Chapter 14
Chapter 14
“Dr. Sanders!” Ian heard the commotion, then saw Mr. Howard, who was in a panic. He turned hisattention to the woman drenched in blood. He could not help but gasp. “How did she get injured?”“Leave the questions for later and save her!” There were several wounds on Leah’s scalp. It seemed tohave been pried open by something sharp. Her collar was soaked in blood and she was in a coma dueto excessive blood loss. Han stared at the unconscious woman on the hospital bed. This woman hadendured this much pain since returning from the banquet. Can’t she feel pain? His eyes fell on Leahonce again and realized that she had been detained in a psychiatric hospital for more than a month. Her once plump body became skinny. Her body was petite and she was wrapped in a thick blanket. Itlooked like she was fragile. Han clenched his fists as he felt perplexed. Countless complexities flashedin his eyes and it gradually turned into a bottomless pool. Leah was in a coma for the whole daybecause of her severe injury. Ian came into the ward with X-ray pictures of her scalp. He looked at thetest results and found that her skull was doing fine. However, the fragile scalp was more damaged, injuring the neighboring muscles and veins. Ian leaned down to examine her scalp. Then, he foundsome tiny scars on the other scalp. Those scars looked like they were covered by lasers. Ian coulddetermine what this situation was because he was a doctor. His expression gradually became solemn, then confirmed his diagnosis. He then continued to check behind her ear. It was as predicted. She hadthe same scar behind her ear! Ian’s eyes became gloomy. These strange scars were marked afterplastic surgery. He had to examine the woman again. Many others said that Leah became mentally illbecause she failed to confess her love to Han. However, through his observations, he found that therumors were false. Although she was prone to depression, her thoughts were normal. Ian could nothelp but think of another person. The birthmark on Leah’s wrist was identical to theirs. How could therebe identical birthmarks in the world? Or of the same location? Thinking of the traces of her plasticsurgery made people want to know what kind of secrets she was hiding. Ian was lost in his thoughtswhen he saw it. When Leah opened her eyes, she was taken aback by this unfamiliar man’s face.“What are you doing?” Ian was too close to her and had a weird expression. Someone would probablythink he was going to do something bad to her. He immediately took a step back and pushed hisglasses in embarrassment. He explained, “Don’t be nervous, I’m just examining your wound.” Leah had
no doubts about him. After all, Dr. Sanders had a good reputation in the hospital. She remembered thatDr. Sanders was the one who took care of her when she was sick the last time. Leah felt gratefultoward him.
