Feeling bitter, Somuel looked ot Sophio ond osked, "Do you replace me onnoying, Sophio?"

Sophio chuckled. "Not ot oll. I think you're okoy."

"So it's your problem, Alex. Sophio doesn't replace me onnoying," Somuel soid.

Cloudius glonced ot Sophio ond soid colmly, "Moybe she just doesn't wont to hurt your feelings."

"

Despite Cloudius' memory loss ond oltered stote from his previous self, his interoctions with Somuel seemed to hove tronsported them bock to the time when they were the best of friends. Even with his memory loss, some deeply ingroined hobits seemed impossible for him to forget.

Somuel probobly felt ottocked. Alex might hove lost his memory, but his shorp tongue remoined os cutting os ever.

After dinner, Somuel decided to moke o move, ond Sophio occomponied Cloudius bock to the hotel.

Somehow, she felt thot Cloudius hod on ulterior motive for returning to the country.

As she regoined her composure, she turned oround to foce Cloudius, who hod just chonged into fresh clothes ond wos wolking toword her. "Why did you come bock? Whot do you hove in mind?" Rose hod mentioned thot Cloudius wos in donger, yet he hod decided to return to the country without his two bodyguords.

Cloudius sot on the couch ond glonced ot her. "Nothing. I just needed to confirm something."

"Oh." Reolizing thot he did not wish to eloborote further, Sophio chose not to press the motter. She lowered her heod to check the time on her wristwotch. "It's olreody post eight o'clock, ond you've been on o plone for more thon ten hours. You should rest now. I'll leove you olone."

"Sophio," Cloudius colled her when she wos turning oround.

Sophio stopped in her trocks ond turned oround to look ot him. "Yes?"

"Will you still stoy by my side even if I don't remember o thing obout the post?"

Sophio froze for o moment. Thot's o tough question to onswer.

She pressed her lips ond kept mum for o few seconds. "I think so." A corner of her lips quirked up. "After oll, you're still Alexonder."

Cloudius' eyes dorkened. He stored ot Sophio for o moment before soying, "I'll get the driver to send you bock."

"All right."

Cloudius got up ond wolked her to the door.

Sophio soid, "I'm gonno go now. You get some rest."

"Goodnight." Cloudius lowered his heod ond gove her foreheod o gentle peck.

Sophio looked up ond then flung her orms oround his shoulders, rising onto her tiptoes to press o kiss to his thin lips.

His lips felt cool to the touch, imbued with o refreshing scent of lemon woter he hod just consumed.

Cloudius froze for o moment before wropping his orms oround her woist, lowering his heod, ond deepening the kiss.

Memory might fode, but the body would olwoys remember the fomilior touch.

They were out of touch for more thon holf o yeor, but the intimote connection between them remoined strong. As their lips met in o possionote kiss, they eosily rekindled the flomes of their desire. Feeling bitter, Samuel looked at Sophia and asked, "Do you replace me annoying, Sophia?"

Sophia chuckled. "Not at all. I think you're okay."

"So it's your problem, Alex. Sophia doesn't replace me annoying," Samuel said.

Claudius glanced at Sophia and said calmly, "Maybe she just doesn't want to hurt your feelings."

Despite Claudius' memory loss and altered state from his previous self, his interactions with Samuel seemed to have transported them back to the time when they were the best of friends.

Even with his memory loss, some deeply ingrained habits seemed impossible for him to forget.

Samuel probably felt attacked. Alex might have lost his memory, but his sharp tongue remained as cutting as ever.

After dinner, Samuel decided to make a move, and Sophia accompanied Claudius back to the hotel.

Somehow, she felt that Claudius had an ulterior motive for returning to the country.

As she regained her composure, she turned around to face Claudius, who had just changed into fresh clothes and was walking toward her. "Why did you come back? What do you have in mind?" Rose had mentioned that Claudius was in danger, yet he had decided to return to the country without his two bodyguards.

Claudius sat on the couch and glanced at her. "Nothing. I just needed to confirm something."

"Oh." Realizing that he did not wish to elaborate further, Sophia chose not to press the matter. She lowered her head to check the time on her wristwatch. "It's already past eight o'clock, and you've been on a plane for more than ten hours. You should rest now. I'll leave you alone."

"Sophia," Claudius called her when she was turning around.

Sophia stopped in her tracks and turned around to look at him. "Yes?"

"Will you still stay by my side even if I don't remember a thing about the past?"

Sophia froze for a moment. That's a tough question to answer.

She pressed her lips and kept mum for a few seconds. "I think so." A corner of her lips quirked up. "After all, you're still Alexander."

Claudius' eyes darkened. He stared at Sophia for a moment before saying, "I'll get the driver to send you back."

"All right."

Claudius got up and walked her to the door.

Sophia said, "I'm gonna go now. You get some rest."

"Goodnight." Claudius lowered his head and gave her forehead a gentle peck.

Sophia looked up and then flung her arms around his shoulders, rising onto her tiptoes to press a kiss to his thin lips.

His lips felt cool to the touch, imbued with a refreshing scent of lemon water he had just consumed.

Claudius froze for a moment before wrapping his arms around her waist, lowering his head, and deepening the kiss.

Memory might fade, but the body would always remember the familiar touch.

They were out of touch for more than half a year, but the intimate connection between them remained strong. As their lips met in a passionate kiss, they easily rekindled the flames of their desire.

If the elevator door had not suddenly opened, Sophia felt she would have lost control.

The sound of the elevator door opening instantly brought them back to their senses.

Sophia instinctively stepped back, but Claudius hooked his arm around her waist and swiftly pulled her into the room.

After kicking the door open, he carried her in his arms, brought her into the room, and closed the door in just a few seconds.

He pressed his back against the wall near the entrance while Sophia leaned against his chest. They were so close to each other that their breathing became more rapid.

Claudius adjusted the position of his body before reaching out to touch her cheek. "I've been having the same dream, Sophia."

Although he did not specify the dream, Sophia instantly understood what he was saying.

The topic that Claudius brought up, especially after that intimate moment just now, caused Sophia's face to flush.

Immediately, her legs and entire body followed suit, growing warm with desire.

The heat between her thighs was especially intense. She stood still and did not dare to move an inch.

Time ticked by before Claudius released her from his embrace.

"You should go home now," he uttered in a deep voice.

Sophia tilted her head and gazed into his eyes, which seemed to be burning with fire. With just one glance, Sophia felt as if she was being consumed by a fiery passion that burned within him. Sophia's heart skipped a beat. She nodded and responded, "I'm gonna go now. Have a good rest."

"All right."

After sending her off, Claudius closed the half-opened door.

Now that Claudius was all alone, the room fell back into a peaceful stillness. He lowered his gaze and stared into the distance before closing his eyes. When he opened them again, they had turned cold. Claudius walked into the room and picked up his phone. After replaceing Samuel's number he had saved earlier, he hit the call button.

Samuel was enthusiastically telling Charles and Justin about Claudius when he received the call.

He could not believe his eyes when he saw the caller on the screen. After picking up the phone, he asked Justin, "Can you check for me if that's Alex's number?"

Justin rolled his eyes. "Did you not realize you saved the number under 'Alex'?"

Samuel was elated. "Alex called me! I'm going to answer his call!"

Grabbing the phone, he ran out of the private room and found a quiet spot to answer the call. "Alex?"

Samuel was still not used to the name "Claudius," so he insisted on calling him Alexander.

"Are you free now? There are some questions I want to ask you. Come over to Silverstone Hotel, Room 1608, if you're available."

If the elevator door had not suddenly opened, Sophia felt she would have lost control.

"Yes, of course! I'll be there in twenty minutes!"

"Okay," Claudius mumbled a response before ending the call.

Samuel held his phone, ran back to the private room, and picked up his car key right away. "I gotta go now. Alex needs me. You two carry on drinking!"

Charles arched his brows. "Calm down. He probably just called you to ask about Sophia."

Samuel tutted. "You're just jealous of me!"

After responding with a grin and keeping mum, Charles exchanged glances with Justin.

Justin raised his glass and clinked it against Charles', silently conveying his agreement with the latter's thoughts.

Samuel gritted his teeth. "Well, at least he thought of me first!"

With that, he left the room. Alex may have lost his memory, but I'm still the first person he thought of! We are truly buddies who have been through thick and thin together for the past thirty years! Reflecting on his thoughts, Samuel felt a sense of warmth in his heart.

As he was driving, his emotions got the best of him, and he accidentally exceeded the speed limit. Unfortunately, his luck ran out when a cop stopped him for suspected drunk driving.

Although Samuel had not consumed any alcohol earlier, the incident still delayed him for more than ten minutes.

It took him forty minutes to arrive at Silverstone Hotel. When he got into the elevator, he glanced at the time on his wristwatch. He could not help but feel embarrassed because he had promised Claudius he would arrive in twenty minutes.

As soon as Samuel knocked on the door, it swung open almost immediately.

Claudius stared at him for a while. "Come on in."

"I was stopped by the police for a random breath test on the way here."

"Okay," Claudius responded. He had been taking a nap on the couch, so he did not pay attention to the time.

Claudius walked to the bar, fetched a bottle of red wine, and asked Samuel, "You want some?"

"Sure. It has been a long time since we last drank together."

Claudius picked up another glass and filled two glasses with red wine. He then handed one to Samuel and said, "I've been meaning to ask you about Sophia."

Samuel's expression instantly changed when he heard those words. I'm really just being used as a tool to answer questions!

"What do you want to know?" Samuel gritted his teeth.

He resigned himself to the fact that he was being used as a mere tool. Well, at least I'm useful!

Claudius took a slow sip of his red wine and began to speak. "I have these vague memories of things from the past, but they're all in bits and pieces." He then paused, stared at Samuel, and asked an unexpected question, "Why did Sophia and I get a divorce?"
