Benson 106
Chapter 106 Terms of Exchange
Three days had passed since Yvonne returned to Las Vegas, but she had not gone back to Wutong Road nor called Benson. Apart from their marriage certificate, it seemed like they had no connection at all.
The morning sunlight streamed through the blinds, casting a quiet stillness over the room.
Yvonne sat at her desk, files piled high in front of her, but her mind seemed to wander, not focused on the work at hand.
Taking advantage of the momentum from securing the BR project, she sought out Raymond, hoping to secure another opportunity.
In a private room of an upscale restaurant, Yvonne sat upright at the table, dressed in a black professional suit, her expression firm and composed.
Raymond sat across from her, his demeanor calm but with a hint of curiosity and doubt in his eyes.
“Mr. Raymond, before you sign with Wanxiang, I’d like to make another effort,” Yvonne began, her tone sincere and confident. “Last time, I spoke about Caesar’s future and its advantages. This time, I’d like to hear your thoughts or any conditions you might have.”
Raymond nodded slightly, his gaze deep and sharp, as if scrutinizing every detail about Yvonne.
“Miss Yvonne, the terms you’ve offered and your vision for Caesar’s future are very appealing… but I’m
afraid…”
He paused, choosing his words carefully. “LS still replaces the risk of entering Caesar too great. Perhaps we can collaborate in the future. This meal is on me.”
Yvonne felt a slight sinking in her heart but maintained a calm smile on her face.
“Thank you for taking the time to meet with me,” she said, her voice soft but firm. “I hope we can have the opportunity to work together in the future.”
Raymond rose to leave, and Megan, who had been sitting nearby, frowned, feeling very discouraged. “Why” is it always like this? They clearly recognize our value and are confident in our terms, so why won’t they cooperate?” she muttered.
Yvonne leaned back in her chair, a hint of fatigue in her eyes. “They just don’t have confidence in me,” she said quietly, with a hint of helplessness in her tone.
Although she had graduated from an art university, that was a long time ago.
Luxury brands like this were unwilling to cooperate with someone without experience in managing luxury department stores.
Megan looked at her, her tone full of determination and encouragement. “How could that be? They just don’t know you. You can do anything.”
Yvonne felt a slight warmth at her words and smiled faintly. “Let’s eat first,” she said, her voice much softer.
“What about Mr. Raymond?” Megan asked, still unwilling to give up.
“As long as he hasn’t signed with Wanxiang, we still have a chance,” Yvonne replied firmly, her eyes showing an unyielding determination.
Raymond walked out of the private room, still reflecting on the conversation.
He was very interested in working with Yvonne… but the company’s decision wasn’t his alone to make.
Chapter 10 Tems of Exchange
He had assessed the risks and found that entering Caesar was too risky at the moment.
As Raymond headed to the parking lot, he saw a man in a brown coat leaning against his car, smoking.
The red glow of the cigarette flickered in the man’s fingers, and Raymond recognized him–Benson.
Under the streetlights, Benson wore a black turtleneck and a brown coat, looking noble and serene. Las Vegas was at its coldest, and the city felt bleak….
Yet at this moment, Raymond felt that his surroundings were imbued with a touch of color. Indeed, beauty knew no gender.
“Mr. Benson, what a coincidence.” Raymond approached, smiling slightly to break the silence.
“I’ve been waiting for you,” Benson replied directly and forcefully, not wasting any words.
Raymond was quite surprised. He had no previous dealings with the young master of the Taylor family, a rising star in the investment world.
“Mr. Raymond, you’ve been with L.S for many years. Have you thought about the future?” Benson asked, his
gaze sharp as he opened the car door. “Do you have time to talk?”
Raymond knew Benson’s capabilities. Many companies sought his consultancy, and Benson always pinpointed problems accurately and turned losses into profits.
Unclear of Benson’s intentions, Raymond didn’t refuse the opportunity. In the business world, they were bound to cross paths frequently.
They went to a top–tier club, where the waitstaff were elegant women in evening gowns.
The interior lighting was soft and luxurious, with expensive artworks adorning the walls and a faint
fragrance in the air, creating an atmosphere of ultimate elegance.
Benson walked slowly in the serene night, the streetlights casting long shadows behind him, like his past trailing behind.
Raymond followed, his steps hesitant, his mind curious about the unknown and cautious of potential changes.
This unexpected conversation seemed poised to determine his future direction.
“Mr. Raymond, if you don’t want to leave L.S, you could consider your future, like your retirement years…” Benson began after they sat down, not rushing to the point but rather leading with a near–philosophical
tone.
His voice was calm yet carried a deeper meaning. “In your current situation, you have absolute, unrestricted control over operations. Although shareholders hold part of the company, they have little say in decision–making, let alone any real understanding of the company’s operations. Your current salary and bonuses, though high, are insignificant compared to the company’s annual profits.”
His words were like a needle piercing Raymond’s inner tranquility, causing ripples in his mind.
He had often questioned himself about this undeniable truth: many founders in similar positions earned far more despite running less successful companies.
If he retired, he would lose his wealth with nothing to pass on to his descendants.
Facing Benson, Raymond’s eyes revealed a mix of confusion and caution.
Why is Mr. Benson being so generous? Why do you want to help me out of this awkward situation?” he probed, trying to uncover Benson’s true intentions.
Chapter 106 Terms of Exchange
“L.S does indeed have issues with its equity and management structure. These aren’t difficult for me to
resolve.
Benson’s tone was full of confidence and control, his seemingly casual words revealing a deep
understanding and wisdom about the situation.
Raymond remained silent for a long time, his inner turmoil like a wind–stirred lake, calm on the surface. but turbulent underneath.
He was well aware of Benson’s methods and capabilities, but faced with a proposal that could almost determine his fate, he was still reluctant to lower his guard easily.
“One should not receive rewards without effort. Why is Mr. Benson being so generous? Why do you want to help me out of this awkward situation?”
He probed, trying to uncover the real intention behind Benson’s proposal.
Benson smiled, his eyes shining with cunning and wisdom. At this moment, the atmosphere seemed to freeze, leaving only the confrontation in their eyes.
“We’re essentially making a trade. You give Caesar Group a chance, and I help you out of your current predicament.” His voice was low and powerful, as if declaring an undeniable fact.
Raymond fell into deep thought. These words felt like a baptism, making future choices exceptionally difficult.
His greatest question at this moment was whether Benson’s move was for the overall benefit of Caesar Group or solely for Yvonne.
