Benson 128
Chapter 128 From the Margins to the Spokesperson
“A person’s heart and love aren’t gained for no reason; ultimately, effort must be made, right?”
Benson sipped his tea slowly, his gaze piercing through the rising steam from the cup to land on George’s face.
His voice carried an enigmatic tone, as if he were stating an eternal truth.
George sighed, smiling bitterly to himself.
If things were as simple as Benson said, it would be wonderful.
This old friend in front of him had become inscrutable, his every move
hard to fathom.
George thought of Mary’s phone call, a call that changed the situation, making Yvonne alter her strategy towards him.
What secrets lay behind this?
Upon returning to the company, Yvonne immediately found her
secretary Megan and handed her Benson’s watch.
“Check the origin of this watch for me. I need to know Benson’s every
move.”
Her tone was commanding, a hint of anxiety in her eyes.
Megan nodded and quickly began the investigation.
This wasn’t the first time Yvonne had asked her to investigate
something, but this time the urgency was different.
Yvonne had once explained to her that she had no feelings for Mary, it was just due to another matter, but Megan hadn’t delved deeper.
However, now it seemed things weren’t simple.
Chapter 125 From the Maigns to the Spokesperson
Who was Benson’s true love? This question lingered in Yvonne’s mind.
The relationship between Mary and Benson was perplexing.
If Benson’s true love wasn’t Mary, it would be good news for Yvonne, but she couldn’t figure out his intentions yet and had to rely on Megan’s investigation results.
Yvonne’s current projects weren’t progressing smoothly.
Whether it was brand collaboration or her per. ally selecting Bella as the spokesperson, they were all facing significant challenges.
Luckily, Bella was promising, although she hadn’t been in the core circle for years.
She still maintained clear and pure eyes, which got her into the final round of competition.
Bella’s appearance, riding on Benson’s popularity, saw some old fans posting her candid photos, showing she still had an outstanding presence.
This undoubtedly brought her considerable traffic.
Yvonne spent some money to follow up with the promotion, finally seeing some results in the evening.
However, the competition for Eurasia Jewelry’s spokesperson was exceptionally fierce.
Unlike other talent show–type selections, Eurasia Jewelry’s national selection, though limited in exposure, maintained autonomy and mystery.
This mystery kept the brand’s popularity up while the spokesperson was undecided, but who would be the final spokesperson was
anyone’s guess.
Yvonne knew she couldn’t put all her eggs in one basket and had to
get Bella more exposure.
In the evening, Yvonne returned home and handed the watch to Bella.
Bella took the watch, a flash of amazement in her eyes. “This watch is beautiful. You must be rich,” she teased.
Yvonne smiled faintly, “It’s Benson’s money. Return it after using it.”
She added, “Share some daily moments online, use these as the background.”
Bella laughed and nodded, “Okay, my sponsor.” Her tone was light and playful.
Yvonne chuckled softly and went back to handling her brand collaboration matters.
She felt extremely stressed, running around for these matters.
Just as she was about to board a plane back, she received a call from Susan.
“Yvonne, do you have time to come home?” Susan’s voice carried a hint of anxiety.
Yvonne had been busy with work recently and had only returned home once since her mother was discharged from the hospital.
After being discharged, her mother had become quieter, which made Yvonne feel heartbroken.
Her mother no longer mentioned her father, and every time Yvonne thought of this, her heart tightened.
“I will come back, but it might be late,” Yvonne said, feeling a pang of
sorrow.
Susan was silent for a moment on the other end, seemingly hesitant.
“It’s just… Hannah has been on the internet a lot recently,” she finall
said.
Yvonne’s heart tightened. Was her mother looking up information
about Benson?
“I know,” she replied, her heart aching slightly.
Benson, who had gone from a “guest” to her husband, v. involved in a scandal with a woman who had unclear relations with her father. How would her mother feel seeing this?
now
Thinking of this, Yvonne’s heart filled with discomfort and anger.
She sat in the airport lounge, thinking for a long time, and finally gathered the courage to call Benson.
Since they decided to divorce, she had rarely contacted him proactively.
“Hello?” Benson’s voice was deep and calm, unexpectedly pleasant.
“Can you do me a favor?” Yvonne’s voice trembled slightly, carrying a hint of plea.
There was a moment of silence on the other end, as if Benson was thinking. “Go ahead.”
Hannah had been surfing the internet at home, and Susan always tried to stop her.
As soon as Yvonne came back, Hannah eagerly asked, “Yvonne, you got married? Why didn’t I know?”
She started to blame herself for forgetting her daughter’s wedding after falling ill.
“It’s not like that, Mom,” Yvonne comforted, unsure of how to explain.
Susan also persuaded on the side, “Maybe you should browse the internet a bit. Yvonne’s husband is talented and capabl

Hannah nodded, looking at the interviews online, and began to
develop some fondness for Benson.
“His parents are good, always visiting me,” Hannah s be well with people like them.

Susan nodded in agreement, but she worried for Yvonne. No matter what, a mother would always be concerned about her child.
Online, all information about Benson and Mary vanished without a trace, and even Mary’s social media hints of being with Benson were deleted.
This sparked speculation, and Mary was extremely displeased. She understood it was because of Yvonne.
Benson, who usually wouldn’t do such things for her, broke the rule for Yvonne again.
Mary gradually understood Benson’s intention; he was weakening her value step by step, eventually trading her future for all the information.
By then, their relationship would be completely over.
Mary felt unwilling but couldn’t replace a solution.
She wanted to confront Yvonne but knew she couldn’t compete with her, so her anger had nowhere to go. She finally decided to cause trouble at Yvonne’s old home, making Hannah relapse and causing Yvonne pain.
When Mary barged into Yvonne’s home with a determined and
unyielding attitude, Susan immediately tried to stop her but couldn’t shake her resolve.
Mary pushed past, causing Susan to stumble back, almost losing

balance. Angry and relentless, Mary stormed into the living room.
Hannah was leisurely sitting on the sofa, holding a cup of half–drunk coffee.
The sudden tension in the living room caught her off guard.
Seeing Mary, she immediately held her breath, her face turning pale with shock.
“Who are you?” Hannah’s voice trembled with fear, fingertips shaking slightly, as if the cup she held could feel her internal terror.
Mary paused, a strange smile on her face as she slowly approached Hannah, with a sinister superiority.
“Aunt Hannah, not only did I sleep with your husband, but when he found out I took your brooch, he pretended to want it back lovingly.”
As she spoke, her voice dropped lower, filled with more threat.
“Then, I gave him a heavy blow, knocking him out. That night didn’t end there; I even… set a fire!”
