Benson -
Benson 15
Chapter 15 Retribution
The sky had just began to lighten with the soft glow of dawn, gently sweeping across the sleeping earth.
The distant mountains emerged in the morning mist, like a delicate oil painting.
The trees and flowers were still slumbering in the embrace of the night, with only a gentle breeze rustling the leaves, producing a soft whispering sound. Everyone was still asleep.
Benson hurriedly carried the unconscious Yvonne. Her face was as pale as paper, her breathing weak. His steps were urgent and firm as he moved through the morning fog, heading towards the hospital
Yvonne’s eyelids felt heavy as if burdened with a thousand pounds of fatigue. As her vision cleared, she saw a sea of white–clean, quiet hospital walls. Sunlight streamed softly through the half–open curtains, warming her face but also causing a slight dizziness.
She struggled to regulate her breathing, trying to bring her mind into focus. The surroundings were both familiar and foreign, the faint smell of disinfectant reminding her she was in a hospital.
Her eyes wandered, searching for familiar faces or the presence of a doctor.
Her body felt weak, as if all strength had been drained from her. Yvonne lightly moved her fingers, trying to feel her own existence.
Bella and Victoria stood by her bedside, their faces filled with worry.
“Dear, where does it hurt?” Victoria asked with concern.
Yvonne shook her head, not knowing how to explain everything to Victoria. It was something that made her feel ashamed and disgraced, “Mom, I’m a bit hungry,” Yvonne tried to change the subject.
Victoria nodded and immediately left the room to get food for Yvonne
Bella leaned in close and whispered, “What’s going on? Were you in bed or being tortured?”
Yvonne gave a bitter smile, recalling the events of last night.
Benson had bitten her neck, his voice filled with anger and disappointment: “Yvonne, you are the most despicable woman I have ever met” “I never thought sleeping with him would be this painful,” Yvonne murmured softly.
Bella looked at the

on Yvonne’s body, feeling a deep ache in her heart. “You can still smile?”
Yvonne sighed, a look of helplessness flashing in her eyes. “Maybe this is the retribution for insisting on marrying him–It’s fate.”
Bella sat at the bedside, frowning “Yvonne, tell me, who harmed you? Could it be Benson’s mother?” Her voice carried a hint of suspicion towards
Victoria
Yvonne shook her head gently. “No, Bella, I believe Victoria wouldn’t do such a thing. Besides, this matter is too dirty.”
Bella wasn’t entirely convinced and continued to ask, “What does Benson think?
Yvonne scoffed, “He is convinced 1 bribed the servants to do it. No matter how I explain, he won’t listen.”
Yvonne lay in the hospital bed for a long time. It wasn’t until Monday afternoon that she began to regain some strength.
During this time, Benson never once appeared at her hospital door, filling Yvonne with disappointment and confusion.
Bella constantly cursed Benson’s coldness and heartlessness, unable to understand how a husband could be so indifferent to his wife.
Bella’s complaints echoed in the room, her discontent almost tangible in the air.
However, at that moment, a gentle knock on the door broke the heavy atmosphere.
Bella stopped her rant, her eyes turning to the door with a hint of curiosity. She stood up and walled lightly to the door, opening it gently,
Outside, Marcus stood tall in the hallway light, holding a bright rose with dewdrops glistening on its petals. His lace radiated a warm smile, as if dispelling all gloom.
“Marcus, what brings you here?” Bella asked, surprised
Marcus smiled, “I heard from Yvonne’s assistant that she was hospitalized, so I came to see her. I heard she’s being disclurged today, so I came to celebrate.”
Bella stepped aside to make way for Marcus.
Her simple gesture showed respect and welcome for the visitor.
As she moved, the room’s door opened wider, allowing Marcus to step into the space filled with sunlight and the scent of antiseptic.
Marcus walked steadily into the room, his eyes first resting on Bella, then slowly sweeping across the room before finally settling on Yvonne
His presence seemed to bring fresh air, making the previously stifling room feel lively again.
Marcus approached Yvonne’s bedside, handing her the rose. “Yvonne, I hope this flower brings you some cheer.”
Yvonne took the flower, looking gratefully at Marcus. “Thank you, Marcus. I’m really glad you came”
Marcus sat in the chair by her bed, asking about her health.
After chatting for a while, Marcus suddenly suggested, “Yvonne, once you’re fully recovered, let’s go to the beach to relax. The sea breeze and sunlight will help you recover.
Yvonne hesitated, unsure whether to accept Marcus’s invitation.
As she pondered, Bella Interjected, “That sounds great, Marcus. Yvonne, you should go. A trip will do you good.”
Yvonne looked at Bella, then at Marcus, and finally nodded.
Entering the estate’s hall, Yvonne was filled with determination.
Today, she faced not only the divorce proceedings but also the deep–seated family conflicts and misunderstandings,
Upon entering, she heard Victoria’s crying–a sound filled with guilt and helplessness.
“We forced you to marry Yvonne back then, and it has always been a thorn in your heart. Now you think we conspired with Yvonne to trap you again. I genuinely love Yvonne. Her parents were a loving couple from a scholarly family. How could 1 bear to mistreat such a wonderful child? Victoria’s voice choked with sabs.
Benson stood beside her, his face dark with anger, his eyes blazing with fury, not responding to Victoria’s words.
Yvonne knew that the knot in Benson’s heart could not be untied. His misunderstanding of her had seeped deep into his bones.
Recalling that night of Benson’s rough behavior, she realized he treated her that way because he thought she was no longer pure, unworthy of the pedestal he had placed her on.
Desperate to replace out who had drugged him, Benson only sought to confirm his belief that Yvonne was the despicable woman he accused her of being and to show his parents her true nature,
Taking a deep breath, Yvonne slowly spoke, “I instructed the servants to harm you.”
