Benson 197
Chapter 197 The Meaning of the Search
Yvonne’s words were exceptionally clear–no matter what he did, she would no longer give him a chance.
The only thing holding them together now was Olivia’s absence.
She was right; their marriage was nothing more than a transaction.
Benson’s eyes lingered on the ring on her finger, which sparkled brilliantly.
In the car’s dim light, it shone like a shooting star across the night sky.
Though this ring had always been associated with Olivia in his memory, it. fit Yvonne’s finger perfectly, as if it were meant for her.
However, no matter how beautiful the ring, it couldn’t win her heart
because she no longer needed him.
“My heart didn’t die in a day. The reason we’ve come to this point is partly because of you and partly because of me, but it has nothing to do with anyone else.”
Yvonne’s voice was as cold as the winter wind, piercing straight to the heart. Her tone was firm and indifferent.
Benson looked at her face, feeling lost in her calmness.
He leaned back in his seat, his hands resting naturally on his legs, but his gaze had nowhere to land.
At this moment, he suddenly felt that everything had become meaningless.
Except when he kissed or touched her, she would show a different expression. At other times, her demeanor was as cold as an iceberg.
She didn’t care where he was, what he was doing, or what others thought about their entanglement.
The unresolved topics in St. George were finally laid bare at this moment.
The hidden indifference and embarrassment beneath the surface were
thus exposed one by one.
Benson was filled with pain and struggle. For a moment, he really wanted to let go of everything.
Leaving him, whether it was Marcus of Jeremy, would treat her more sincerely than he ever could.
However, he couldn’t let her go; he wasn’t willing to let go.
“Let’s wait… for Olivia to come back.”
Benson’s voice was low and weary.
“I’m serious when I say if you’ve had enough, I will let you go.”
He looked into her eyes, a flicker of pain and unease in his gaze.
“Waiting for her return isn’t my fallback plan… it’s to give myself some time.”
To learn how to truly love her!
Benson found himself laughable. She had loved him so much, yet he had ignored her feelings.
He remembered the way she used to look at him with affection, and he felt suffocated by his inability to reciprocate at the time.
The love that once sparkled in her eyes now felt so distant.
Yvonne’s beauty had been etched in his memory since the first time they
met.
Even though he had never truly acknowledged her, her presence had left a deep and lasting mark on his heart.
He always remembered her gentle smile and the shy look when she glanced at him.
Even with her right beside him now, he felt a chasm between them. She was so near, yet seemed out of reach.
Yvonne was silent for a moment, then slowly spoke, “I believe you, this time you won’t go back on your word.”
Back at 6 Elm Street, Yvonne felt incredibly weary.
Her figure appeared somewhat desolate at the doorway, and the sound of the car door closing was unusually sharp in the night.
Benson leaned against the car seat, his long legs stretched out, his gaze lost in the darkness outside the window.
The air inside the car seemed to become heavy, every breath growing slow and stifling.
Yvonne removed her makeup and took a shower. Her movements were slow and meticulous, as if trying to recover from the day’s exhaustion.
The room was silent, with only the soft drip of the faucet and her gentle breathing.
When she came out, she noticed Benson’s pillow was missing. She stood there, momentarily stunned.
Her eyes scanned the room until she finally found him in the guest bedroom.
She pushed open the door and saw Benson sitting on the bed, appearing
somewhat restless.
“What’s this…” Her voice held a hint of confusion, her eyes showing a mix of perplexity and fatigue.
Benson didn’t answer immediately, he just looked up at her with complex emotions in his eyes, “Yvonne, do you hate me?”
“I did…” Her voice was calm as if she were stating something trivial, but her eyes flashed with a bit of pain and helplessness.
“And now you don’t?” Benson asked again, a trace of hope and shame in
his voice.
“Actually, you probably hated me too, didn’t you?” Yvonne said softly.
“When I insisted on marrying you, it was to surprise you. Who knew you wouldn’t recognize me at all. Your resistance to my presence, without giving me a chance to explain, made me afraid to explain.”

Now that she understood the truth, she found it impossible to explain anymore. Perhaps this was fate’s way of mocking her.
Benson remained silent for a few seconds, then turned his back, his voice low and tired, “Get some sleep.”
They say that love taken to the extreme turns into hate. But if she no
longer even hated him, it meant her heart was truly dead.
At this moment, Yvonne no longer hated him.
Since Mr. Donald’s party, the two of them began sleeping in separate
rooms.
Benson no longer said anything outrageous, nor did he act inappropriately..
Living under the same roof, they suddenly became courteous to each other.
It was as if all the arguments and conflicts had faded away under this new
arrangement.
Yvonne felt the relationship had returned to the early years of their marriage, yet it was different.
Because she no longer had any expectations.
As for Benson’s thoughts, she didn’t know and didn’t bother to replace out.
Even when they went to the company, they drove separate cars and never appeared together.
Bella was shocked to hear about these changes, “Did he.., turn over a new leaf? Has he changed?”
“Maybe.” Yvonne replied blandly.
The coldness between the two even reached Maria, who couldn’t help but
ask Benson.
She overheard him saying, “Married for so many years, maybe these are the last days that people don’t want to remember; isn’t that too much of a failure?”
Chapter 197 The Meaning of the Search
Bella naturally hoped her friend could live according to her own wishes.
Especially regarding Benson, she felt utterly helpless. She had hinted to him but failed to get through, making it incredibly frustrating.
Particularly when Yvonne was ill and he wasn’t by her side, she was furious, not to mention how Yvonne must have felt.
But Bella wasn’t as optimistic as Yvonne, and she couldn’t help but worry.
Olivia, after all, wasn’t real. She couldn’t possibly have amnesia for a lifetime.
Now Benson feels he owes you, and it’s hard for him to continue being a jerk, worsening his image.
But Yvonne, if he replaces out that you are the one he’s been searching for, will he really divorce you happily and let you go?
After all, he has been searching for seven whole years!
“He searched for seven years, and I loved him for seven years, yet this is the ending. How sad and pathetic!”
Yvonne was filled with confusion and sadness, unable to comprehend why all this had happened.
Did he really search earnestly? And had she truly loved him
wholeheartedly?
‘Don’t be sad yet; think about what to do about this?” Bella genuinely worried for her, “What’s going on here?”
‘Just let it be.” Yvonne said softly, “By the way, could you go with me to the hospital?”
Bella’s heart skipped a beat, “Why the hospital? Are you… pregnant?”
