Chapter 74 The Aftermath of Alcohol
Mary’s phone call left George speechless.
He sat in his dimly lit office, fingers tapping lightly on the desk, brows furrowed.
To be honest, over the past few years, the information Mary provided had been too limited. He and his boss had gone to many places, mostly returning empty–handed.
Each time their hopes were dashed, his trust in Mary gradually wore away.
If not for his boss’s insistence that the person really existed, he would have thought Mary was making everything up.
His doubts and dissatisfaction snowballed until today’s call from Mary was the final straw. “No news for years, and now that you’re asked to turn yourself in, you suddenly have news?
George sneered, his tone dripping with sarcasm and distrust.
He felt Mary was treating everyone like fools.
Unwilling to waste more time on what seemed like an endless game, he hung up the phone, not wanting to deal with her.
Despite George hanging up, Mary was excited.
She stood by the window, gazing at the distant lights, her heart filled with uncontrollable excitement.
She had guessed who that person was.
This discovery was significant for her, she felt she had a bargaining chip. After all, Benson had been searching for that person for so many years, indicating how important they were
to him.
Mary knew this news would allow her to continue thriving in the entertainment industry, ensuring her good life.
She smiled slightly, knowing that by holding this secret, she could secure an irreplaceable position in Benson’s heart. This would be her stepping stone to success.
The next day, Yvonne and Bella enjoyed horse riding and boating at Biscayne Point, basking in the sea breeze and warm sunlight.
They also visited the Vizcaya Museum, immersing themselves in its historical atmosphere.
Benson patiently accompanied them, occasionally taking out his camera to capture their laughter and natural poses in front of the ancient relics.
Through his lens, Yvonne and Bella’s smiles appeared as if from a painting, contrasting sharply with the old architecture.
In a quiet comer of the museum, Bella suddenly stopped, her eyes deep as she looked Benson, softly asking. “If he really settled down with her and behaved, would she reconsider not getting a divorce?”
This question was like a stone thrown into a calm lake, stirring waves in Yvonne’s he
She felt conflicted. Her feelings for Benson from her youth were profound; he was her fi love, and she had hoped to spend her life with him.
However, now, even with Benson by her side, showing some hints of wanting to please h her emotions remained calm, without the ripples of the past.
After a day of touring, Yvonne and Bella gazed at the starry sky in the courtyard, enjoyi the peaceful and beautiful night.
The hotel owner warmly brought them some homemade plum wine, which was rich in flavor with a hint of sweetness.
After a few sips, they were captivated by the unique taste of the wine.
Unknowingly, Yvonne had drunk two glasses, lazily leaning back on the sofa with a satisfied smile on her face.
Benson, having handled some work matters, looked up to replace Yvonne slightly tipsy, he eyes revealing a dreamy glow.
However, Bella’s mood didn’t match the beautiful night.
Seeing Benson annoyed her, she couldn’t even stand to look at him.
When Benson approached, Bella simply greeted Yvonne briefly and hurriedly left the courtyard, leaving Yvonne and Benson alone under the stars.
Yvonne half–opened her eyes, glancing at him, maintaining her lazy posture, motionless
“Have you had too much to drink?” he asked.
“No, I just drank a bit quickly. I’m a little tipsy, but my mind is still clear,” Yvonne replied, her voice light.
At Biscayne Point, the temperature difference between day and night was significant. Wrapped in a blanket and curled up on the sofa, Yvonne still felt cold.
Benson gently embraced her, holding her tightly. Perhaps due to the alcohol, she seemed particularly docile, quietly leaning against his chest, looking up at the stars.
He turned his head, his gaze falling on her fair neck and the hair dancing in the breeze. He couldn’t resist lowering his head to kiss her lightly. “Any plans for tomorrow?” he asked gently.
“Me and Bella plan to go cycling, explore the surroundings,” Yvonne answered.
“Do you want me to join you?” He leaned in slightly, holding her in a sliekul
d
manner, their eyes locking
Yvonne was silent for a while, gazing at his handsome face in the dim light. Since their mamage, this was a rare moment of tenderness from him.
“Up to you” she said softly. As she was about to look away, he gently cupped her chin
He kissed her deeply, and Yvonne didn’t resist. They had be intimate the night before. and the lingering sensation still enveloped her heart.
Afterward, Yvonne felt a bit regretful. After all their issues hadn’t been resolved.
But she wasn’t a sentimental person, thinking perhaps this could be considered a delightful tromance” during their trip.
As they kissed passionately, a sudden urgent ringtone shattered the romantic atmosphere.
Benson didn’t pull away from Yvonne, continuing the sweet kiss while reaching for his phone from his pocket to answer it
“Boss, there’s an emergency. I just sent it to you. Please check it immediately.” George’s anxious voice came through the phone. Benson leaned forward slightly, supporting himself in front of Yvonne as he opened his phone screen.
George had sent a sketch. The person in the drawing was none other than Benson himself. At that moment, the burning passion in Benson’s heart seemed to be doused by a bucket of cold water.
In his arms, Yvonne’s eyes sparkled enchantingly, her lips like blooming roses, espec alluring in the charming night
However, Benson’s heart was filled with turmoil Ultimately, he decided to leave.
Tuming away, the night wind brought a chill. Yvonne slightly moved her neck, watching his departing figure, guessing the call might be related to work
She sat quietly, gazing at the stars, her heart filled with questions. Soon, Benson hurried back saying. Yvonne, I have to return to Las Vegas immediately.
Yvonne simply responded with an ‘Oh,” watching as Benson rushed to the room, hastily packing his clothes into a suitcase. She didn’t ask much, silently standing by the door, observing his every move.
When Benson arrived at Mary’s place, it was already the early hours of the morning. Mary sat on the sofa, still looking delicate. She slowly spoke, “You know, the fire was too intense back then. I can’t remember many things, but I suddenly recalled, she can draw Benson suddenly grabbed Mary’s arm tightly, urgently asking. “Do you know who she is?”
