Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) -
Chapter 113
Chapter 113
Second Aunt Smith clenched her fists so tightly that there were nail marks on her palms, but she didnot feel any pain She lowered her eyes and restrained her emotions. She suppressed the indignationand humiliation she felt and finally gave in. “Miss Grey, I’m sorry. I was wrong!”
“Clank!” That was the sound of the cup being placed on the table. The Smiths could not help buttremble.
Rachel Grey slowly raised her eyes and looked at her. “Just this once.”
With that, she stood up and was about to leave when she realized that David Jones was no longer inthe hall. It was as if everything that had happened earlier was only her imagination.
“Wait a minute.” Old Mr. Smith suddenly called out to her from behind.
Rachel stopped in her tracks and turned to look at Old Mr. Smith.
Old Mr. Smith pulled out the “Shares Transfer Agreement” that he had prepared previously. “You cameto celebrate my birthday with good intentions today, but in the end, so much trouble arose. Take this ascompensation from me.”
Everyone panicked when they saw Old Mr. Smith pull out the agreement. “Dad, what are you doing?”
“How can you give the company’s shares to outsiders so nonchalantly?”
Old Mr. Smith glared at them and scolded, “Shut up, all of you!”
Everyone was indignant, but they had no choice but to shut their mouths.
“I can’t accept this,” Rachel rejected again.
She did not need any compensation from the Smith family, nor did she want to be involved with theSmith family in any way.
“I’ll feel bad if you don’t accept it,” Old Mr. Smith said. “All these years, the Smith family has owed youmuch. Now that such a thing has happened, how will I face you in the future if you don’t accept this?”
Rachel curled her lips. “Grandpa Smith, I’ve never wanted anything from the Smith family. In the past, Ifeel the same as I do now.”
Old Mr. Smith saw that Rachel had made up her mind and knew that there was no point in sayinganything more.
He pondered for a long time before speaking again. “I hope that you can attend next month’sanniversary celebration…”
Upon hearing this, Rachel immediately understood why Old Mr. Smith insisted on transferring 5% of thecompany’s shares to her.
There was a hint of mockery in her eyes.
No one would treat another well unconditionally.

Chapter 113
The Smith Group has nothing to do with me.
After saying that, Rachel did not stay any longer and turned to leave.
However, when Rachel left, she lowered her eyes and glanced at the painting, which was OliviaCruise’s gift to Old Mr. Smith. The corners of Rachel’s mouth curled into a meaningful smile.
Mr. Griffin followed her gaze and narrowed his eyes. “Why is this here?”
Everyone turned to look at the painting. Hesitation flashed across their eyes. Could it be that there wassome unknown story behind this painting?
Olivia, on the other hand, thought that someone with good knowledge had finally discovered thepainting’s value. She was secretly delighted but acted calm and composed. “This is a painting from theBaroque period. Is there anything wrong with it?”
When Mr. Griffin heard this, his smile deepened. His left hand caressed the watch he wore on his right. His seemingly casual actions revealed a deeper meaning. “Well, playthings meant for entertainment.”
It was not surprising to him. It was extremely difficult to differentiate fakes from authentic given thecurrent counterfeiting technology.
Even the collectors who had been in the antique dealing market for many years dare to make rashconclusions.
did not
If he had not noticed Rachel’s gaze just now, he might not have noticed this painting.
Sensing something, Mr. Lewis thought for a moment and said carefully, “Mr. Griffin, could it be that thispainting is not aged?”
Mr. Griffin looked at his watch and patted Mr. Lewis‘ shoulder. “Let’s talk again when the chancearises.”
Mr. Lewis realized what Mr. Griffin was hinting at but did not pursue it further.
Olivia, who was standing at the side, vaguely sensed that something was wrong. She hurriedly chasedafter him. “Mr. Griffin, I’ve procured the painting from Glamour Pavilion…”
