Chapter 168
Chapter 168
However, Old Mr. Johnson continued, “I only have one precious
granddaughter. Of course, I have to choose carefully. I can’t be careless on this.”
“That’s true,” Old Mr. Shain continued, “However, with Rae–Rae’s social status, I’m afraid it’s going tobe very difficult to pick someone who’s worthy of her in Seaxas.”
As their conversation went on, Rachel felt that something was amiss.
As expected, in the next second, Rachel heard Old Mr. Johnson ask Old Mr. Shain, “I wonder if youknow someone who would be a suitable candidate?”
The two of them exchanged glances and quickly came to a consensus. “Now that you mention it, I dohave one.” Old Mr. Shain said.
Before Old Mr. Shain could finish speaking, his trusted aide hurriedly approached him and whisperedsomething in his ears.
Old Mr. Shain was always very good at masking his emotions. However, when Old Mr. Shain heardwhat his trusted aide had said, his face turned solemn as he asked, “Are you really sure of what youhave seen?”
The butler looked at Old Mr. Shain solemnly and replied. “I’m absolutely certain!”
Old Mr. Shain stood up and smoothed the non–existent creases on his clothes. “Hurry and bring me tohim! I’ll personally bring him in!” Old Mr. Shain said nervously.
Just when Old Mr. Shain had just taken a step forward, footsteps could be heard coming from the door.
Everyone could not help but look in the direction of the footsteps.
They saw a tall and upright figure entering the room steadily.
The man was wearing a black suit, which had been ironed meticulously. The well–tailored suitaccentuated his tall figure and the man exuded an innate aura of nobility. People could also feel an airof suppression that was coming from the man, which made them feel slightly intimidated. There was ahint of coldness in his exquisite eyes and his thin lips were slightly pursed. When they were staring intohis dark and fathomless
eyes, they could not read what he was thinking. However, one could feel that they were staring into abottomless pit and could feel impending danger.
The crystal lamp outlined his distinct facial features, complementing the dangerous aura which couldnot be hidden.
Without looking sideways, the man walked towards the crowd and caught sight of Rachel effortlessly.
Although his gaze lingered on Rachel for only an instant, the corners of his lips curled up quietly, revealing a faint smile.
The spacious room seemed narrow and cramped because of David’s arrival as the aura which heemitted seemed to fill up the entire room.
Everyone looked at David in unison and discussed in low voices.
“Who is this man?”
“I’ve never seen him before. He probably has a powerful background. Didn’t you see that Old Mr. Shainhad even stood up in order to welcome him in person?”
“Could he be the distinguished guest that Old Mr. Shain had mentioned?”
It is well known that the existence of the Shain family in Seaxas is not as important and irreplaceableas compared to the Johnson family.
The reason why the Shain family was able to be part of the top four most prestigious families inSeaxas, was mainly due to the Shain family’s support in the background.
Some said that the Shain family who was backing the Shain family in Seaxas was actually the realaristocrats.
Even Old Mr. Shain himself would pale in comparison in front of the Shain family and would beconsidered to be someone who is not worth mentioning.
At this moment, Old Mr. Shain had already stepped forward to welcome the guest in person.
After five years, the man in front of Old Mr. Shain seemed to be even calmer and more reserved thanbefore. However, the indifferent and noble aura which surrounded him made Old Mr. Shain feel that itwas hard to breathe.
Even though Old Mr. Shain was many years older than David, Old Mr. Shain naturally displayedunprecedented respect and fear for David the moment when he saw David.
Pursing his thin lips, David looked at Old Mr. Shain and said, “Old Mr. Shain, I apologize for showing upalthough I was not invited. I’m sorry for the intrusion.”
David said steadily in a deep and cold voice, making one’s body tense up unknowingly.

Feeling flattered, Old Mr. Shain immediately said, “Mr. Jones, you’re being too polite. It’s our greatesthonor that you have came to visit.”
Anyone with a discerning eye could see that Old Mr. Shain’s attitude towards David was a tad toopolite.
Although the Shain family’s social status in Seaxas was not as high as the Johnson family, with Old Mr.Shain’s current social status, he should not be as polite to David as he should have been.
“Mr. Jones, please.” Old Mr. Shain personally led David in and invited David to take the head seat.
