David pursed his lips and reached out to hug her waist tightly. He kissed her cheek and temple. “Bewith me?”

The request was tempting to Rachel, but rationality prevailed at the critical moment. “I’ll wait for you tocome back.”

“I can’t bear to part with you.” David’s palm clasped the back of her neck. Their foreheads werepressed together, their breaths blending.

Similarly, Rachel was extremely reluctant to part with David.

After hearing David’s conversation, she could already make a guess about what was going on.However, the moment David voiced it out, she was still involuntarily filled with disappointment andreluctance.

Rachel’s fingertips curled up slightly as she gently kissed David’s lips. “How long will you be gone for?”

“It’s not confirmed,” David said. “Could be two or three days, could be a week.”

As soon as he finished speaking, a gloomy atmosphere quietly filled the

car.

Suddenly, Rachel chuckled.

A dangerous glint flashed across the depths of David’s dark eyes. He pinched the soft flesh at her waistand said sinisterly into her ear, “You heartless girl, are you so eager to not see me?”

“Of course not.” The ticklish Rachel retreated backward and explained anxiously, “I just confirmedsomething.”

David raised his eyebrows slightly and looked at her meaningfully.

His gaze seemed to be saying, “You’d better give me a satisfactory

answer.”

“Maybe I didn’t love Louis Smith that much.”

In the three years she had been dating Louis, business trips had become a common occurrence.However, at that time, she was not too reluctant or disappointed.

On the other hand, when she found out that David was about to leave,

the disappointment and reluctance she felt were unprecedented. For a moment, it even felt somewhatunfamiliar.

At the same time, she was once again sure that she didn’t love Louis that much.

It had to be said that Rachel’s explanation successfully pleased David.

However, he did not show it on his face. He pretended to be angry and said with a dark expression,“Are you comparing me to a scumbag?”

“I’m just comparing my past self with my current self,” Rachel said.

She looked at his slightly furrowed brows and gently smoothed them with her fingers. “I’ll wait for you toreturn.”

“Okay.” David kissed her lips.

After the car stopped at the Platinum Mansion, Rachel opened the car door and got out.

However, as soon as she turned around, she saw Lucas jump out of nowhere.

“Where’s that bastard? Let me take a good look at his face!”

“What’s wrong with you!” Rachel pulled on Lucas‘ arm angrily.

It was not that she was worried that Lucas would cause trouble for David, but rather, she was worriedthat he was not David’s match.

Lucas tapped her forehead. “Stupid girl, you’ve only been dating for a few days and you’re alreadysiding with outsiders! Who am I doing this for? If I wasn’t worried that you would be cheated, I wouldn’thave waited here for so long!”

“I’m not a three–year–old kid,” said Rachel as she walked into the corridor.

The elevator went all the way to the top floor.

A nearly 100 feet curved floor–to–ceiling window was enough to have a panoramic view of all ofSeaxas.

At the other end of the balcony was a sky garden. The thriving plants added to the brutality of the night.

The apartment had probably not been lived in for a long time. Even with the new ventilation system on,it still exuded a cold aura.

After Lucas entered, he followed Rachel around like a shadow. “Hurry up and tell me who thatdelusional bastard is!”

Rachel glanced expressionlessly at him and walked to the refrigerator in the kitchen. “Coke or beer?”

“Beer,” Lucas said.
