Chapter 226

Chapter 226 Higher-Ups’ Mistake?

After Louis‘ call was hung up, his expression suddenly became extremely gloomy.

Louis‘ assistant, who was sitting in the front row, held his breath instinctively and tried his best to makehimself inconspicuous.

Since Miss Grey left the Smith family, her attitude toward Mr. Smith had been terrible.

And even stranger, ever since then, the Smith family had encountered trouble after trouble. They hadnot had a day of peace.

Miss Grey refused to see Mr. Smith now. It was obvious that she still hated Mr. Smith.

Louis‘ assistant looked at Louis‘ expression and was downcast for a long time. Then, he askedgingerly, “Mr. Smith, why don’t we try our luck by taking the route back to Miss Grey’s house?”

“Do you know where she lives?” Louis looked at his assistant coldly.

Louis‘ assistant was startled and stammered, “I don’t know…”

“That would’ve been an impossible feat,” he thought.

After Miss Grey left Smith Group, it was as if she had vanished. No one even knew her whereabouts, let alone hear any news about her.

Louis sighed faintly and raised his hand to massage his temples. “Go to Johnson Corporation.”

Louis guessed that Rachel must be in Johnson Corporation now. Otherwise, Rachel could not havecome and left as she pleased and eaten with Linda.

As the car drove slowly, Louis‘ phone suddenly rang. It was a call from the bank president.

“Mr. Smith.”

“Mr. White.” Louis asked humbly, “Was the loan that we previously applied for approved?”

Hearing Louis‘ words, the person on the other end fell into a short silence. It was as if he found thistopic rather difficult to broach.

Mr. White pondered for a moment and said tentatively, “Well, Mr. Smith, after

the higher–ups reviewed the materials you submitted, they declined the loan. Why don’t you try tosubmit your loan application to another bank?”

“It wasn’t approved?” Louis frowned. His handsome face seemed to be shrouded with coldness. “Didthe higher–ups make a mistake?”

“In the past, every loan from Smith Group had been approved by this bank. The materials and loanapplications would be reviewed and approved very quickly. Why was the loan declined this time?” Louiswondered.

“Mr. Smith, I can understand your feelings.” Mr. White comforted Louis. “To be honest, I’ve asked thehigher–ups. They’re not targeting you alone. Recently, the higher–ups have issued new rules andmodified the policies. They’ve judged the size of your company and the loan you applied for to be high–risk, so they rejected your application.”

When Louis heard this, the expression on his face remained grim. His frown. deepened.

After a long time, Louis said calmly, “I understand. Thank you for your trouble during this period.”

After hanging up the phone, Louis secretly gritted his teeth and endured the anger swirling in his chest.

“What is going on?” Louis wondered.

“Previously, the loan approval process had been exceptionally smooth. Why is it stuck at the last stepthis time?

“Could it be that the Johnson family had taken action?

“However, if it were really the Johnson family who did it, their punishment

wouldn’t have been so mild.

“But no matter what, the most important thing now is to replace Rachel and try to appease the anger in herheart.”

When the car was heading towards Johnson Corporation, Louis happened to see Rachel preparing toget into a car and leave.

Louis threw caution to the wind. He rolled down the window and shouted, “Rachel!”

Hearing Louis‘ voice, Rachel’s movements paused slightly.

Rachel narrowed her eyes and looked at Louis, who had opened the car door and was rushing towardsher.

David, who was sitting in the car, saw Louis walking over quickly. David’s

eyes darkened and were shrouded with coldness.

“Give me a moment,” Rachel bent over and said to David.
