When Old Mr. Johnson heard this, his expression froze for a moment. He picked up

the glass of water beside him, took a sip, raised his eyes, and looked at Rachel. “It’s nothing serious. Ijust want to talk to you about the engagement. I wonder if you’ve thought about it?”

Actually, Old Mr. Johnson had an impulse for a moment. He was worried that he would survive theoperation and wanted to tell Rachel about the engagement.

But now that he was safe, he selfishly wanted to keep this secret to himself forever. Sometimes, therewere things that were not necessarily good to be known.

Perhaps the current life was the best for Rachel.

“Grandfather, can you tell me why you insist on me calling off the marriage with David? Back then, youstrongly objected to me being with Louis. Was it because of the difference in family background orbecause of this engagement?” Rachel stared at Old Mr. Johnson with a burning gaze, and her eyeswere filled with persistence.

Old Mr. Johnson frowned slightly and said firmly, “So what if I know? This marriage will be canceledsooner or later!”

“Grandpa, are you hiding something from us? Rae-Rae’s marriage came so suddenly. You’ve nevermentioned it before. Now, you’re insisting that she call off the marriage. Is there some… secret behindthis marriage?” Lucas looked at Old Mr. Johnson in confusion.

Old Mr. Johnson looked up and glared at him angrily. “What secret could there be? It’s just that youraunt once owed a favor and used Rae-Rae’s marriage to return it. I’m just feeling sorry for her. If theyoung lady marries into such a faraway place and is unfamiliar with the place, won’t she be bullied to

Lucas was scolded badly. He rubbed his nose awkwardly and muttered softly, “There’s clearly aproblem with your attitude…”

“You brat, I think you need to be taught a lesson!” Old Mr. Johnson said as he grabbed a pillow andthrew it at Lucas.

Lucas dodged nimbly and grabbed the cigarette box on the coffee table. “I can go out and smoke,right?”

“Go, go, go. You, too.” Old Mr. Johnson was anxious and chased Rachel out together. “I’ve raised youfor nothing all these years. You actually suspect my intentions!”

Rachel did not know whether to laugh or cry. Seeing Adrian’s suggestive eyes, she had no choice butto leave early.

Lucas and Rachel walked into the elevator one after another.

“Why did Grandpa get angry as you mentioned your marriage?” Lucas thought of Old Mr. Johnson’sangry face and revealed a helpless expression.

Rachel raised her eyebrows slightly and smiled intriguingly. “He was not angry. He clearly didn’t want tocontinue this topic.”

However, the more Old Mr. Johnson was like this, the more curious Rachel was about the origin of thismarriage.
