Chapter 478
“Could this be the legendary daughter of a different surname?”
“After all, the Johnson family has been the richest family for many years. Why is she dressed sopoorly?”
“Look at how she’s dressed. She’s wearing a white business suit. If I don’t know any better, I’d thinkshe’s here to attend a funeral!”
“No matter what, the Chamber of Commerce is only held once every three years. Everyone here isdressed appropriately, except her. She’s really embarrassing the Johnson family of Seaxas!”
When Hannah heard this, a fleeting smile flashed across her upturned lips showed unconcealablesarcasm and smugness. “Alright, that’s
eyes. Her slightly enough. No matter what, she’s still the daughter of the Johnson family. We can’tafford to offend her.”
“So what? In the end, she’s just a daughter of a different surname.
for her that the Johnson family acknowledges her. Ou sute. It is fortunate
have looked twice at her.”
no one here would
“Even though I have a different surname and all of you disdain me, you still have to greet merespectfully, don’t you?” Rachel turned slowly. One of her arms was crossed in front of her chest, and
the other held a goblet. Her wrist shook slightly as she twirled the champagne within, which glitteredunder the sunlight.
Her cold tone was distant and indifferent.
“As for my attire, the Chamber of Commerce didn’t explicitly say to dress like a peacock, right?Besides, I didn’t come to the Chamber of Commerce to curry favor with anyone or attract the attentionof any member of the opposite sex here. You claim to be young ladies from noble families, but in myeyes, you’re no different from the gossiping women out in the streets.”
Upon hearing her words, Hannah and the others felt their faces flushing in embarrassment.
She originally thought that Rachel was an easy target for her to bully. She did not expect her to be sobold!
She actually called them out in public without any scruples.
Of course, these words also attracted the attention of wealthy young men nearby.
“This daughter of the Johnson family is truly one of a kind.” The speaker nudged Charles Page with hisshoulder. “Charles, aren’t the two of you kind of related? Can you introduce me to her?” –
Standing next to the pair, Katy Page sneered. “How is she related to us? If it isn’t for…
Before she could finish speaking, she was cut off by Charles’s cold and sharp gaze. She pursed herlips resentfully and swallowed the rest of her words.
“The daughter of the Johnson family is not someone to mess with,” Charles said calmly with a glass ofwine in his hand.
“Is that so? In the end, she is nobody without the Johnson family.” The man scrutinized Rachel with anopenly explicit gaze as if he was sizing up a plaything. His words were filled with disdain. “Old Mr.Johnson was suddenly hospitalized not long ago. People have been talking. Now that he has broughther to attend the Chamber of Commerce, it is obvious that he wants to use her to make a marriagealliance. Otherwise, why would the Johnson family keep her for all these years?”
In other words, the Johnson family had cared for Rachel all these years only to sacrifice her for amarriage alliance one day.
“Even if the Johnson family is in dire straits, they wouldn’t need to sacrifice their daughter’s marriage tosurvive.” A lazy voice suddenly sounded.
Everyone looked up and saw Lucas Johnson leaning lazily on the rattan chair.
He was wearing a black shirt with the collar slightly open. The lines of his collarbone were faintlyvisible.
The sleeves of his black shirt were rolled up to his arms, revealing his tanned skin. His clean andslender fingers were holding a cigarette.
Amidst the smoke, one could vaguely make out his exquisite eyebrows, high nose bridge, and the faintsmile on his lips. His beautiful eyes were naturally raised, looking s***y but cold.
The moment the man saw Lucas, his eyes widened in shookk. He called out respectfully, “Mr.Johnson…”
