“You don’t like it?” David asked.

This was the first time he had ever proposed to a woman, so he was inevitably a little nervous.

David looked down at her and gently wiped the water off her lips with his fingertips. “Do you know howhard I’ve been restraining myself?”

Rachel sighed lightly. “Are you blaming me?”

Rachel chuckled at his words.

She cupped David’s face and pecked on it before hopping out of the car decisively. “I’ll get going. Goodnight.”

“Good night.”

After watching Rachel leave, David returned to his usual aloof self. “Drive me to the 101 Institute.”

“Yes.”

As the car sped along, David’s phone suddenly rang. It was Landon.

“I ran into Lucas at the research institute today and discovered that the research institute wasconducting a highly confidential experiment. They kept it a secret even from our people.”

Back then, David convinced Tom by collaborating with the government to create a laboratory.

Apart from the elites from various research institutes, experts from David’s research institute joined thelaboratory as well.

In the past, expert groups or research and development teams would share all the results of eachother’s experiments. However, the Johnson family always kept some experiments they wereconducting highly confidential. Clearly, there were some things that they did not want to reveal tooutsiders.

“And this evening, another group of people came to the research institute and talked to Ethan.” Landonsaid, “An hour ago, our men reported that Tom joined hands with the governments of 10 states andestablished a research team.”

Back then, when David offered to cooperate with him, Tom talked a lot about his research and

development team.

Even coercion wouldn’t work on Ethan.

Now that he had someone backing him up, he was much more confident than before.

David said meaningfully, “Don’t forget what Ethan’s old job is.”

Landon’s pupils constricted at his words. “Are you suspecting that the Johnson family is using Ethan tomake the poison?”

David adjusted his tie and said coldly, “Ethan is the most well-known poison maker in Aureliana. Sincehe can make poison, he can detoxify it, of course.”

After hanging up, he urged Billy to go to the research institute as soon as possible.

By this time, Rachel had returned to Johnson’s Mansion. As soon as she entered the room, she sawOld Mr. Johnson sitting on the sofa.
