Chapter 67

Rachel was stunned for a moment. She looked up at the man and could not help but smile gently fromthe corner of her eyes.

This cold–looking man always knew what she needed at the right moment.

For example, on the day she broke up with Louis, she walked alone in the heavy rain. That jacket justeased her embarrassment. He said, “I think you need it now much more than I do.” And now he gaveher his jacket that was just enough to make her feel warm.

The cold wooden fragrance exclusive to the man lingered in her nose, making her heart beatuncontrollably faster.

She could not help but tighten her coat and take a deep breath. She was a little lost in the smell thatbelonged to him. “David, what perfume are you wearing?”

The words that came out of her mouth made Rachel feel awkward.

She secretly bit her tongue and felt that she must have been in over her head just now. Otherwise, shecould never say something so inappropriate like this.

Just as she was feeling vexed, she heard David’s low voice with a hint of a smile. “It’s custom–made. Ifyou like it, I’ll get Eddie to send it to you tomorrow.”

Rachel lowered his eyes and said calmly, “Forget it. It’s not suitable for me.”

“How would you know if you don’t give it a try?” David seemed to have understood the deeper meaningin her words. The smile on her lips had a deeper meaning. “An honest lifestyle is to act according toone’s body’s wishes. Just like how people choose to eat when they’re hungry. There’s no need to liewhen they are in love.”

Rachel’s eyes flickered slightly. “But who can guarantee that the temptation isn’t used to fill theemptiness and loneliness in one’s heart?”

David chose to put her question aside in silence. After a moment of silence, he said again, “Actually,I’ve always regarded you as an accident.”

“Accident?” Rachel’s slender brows furrowed slightly, and a trace of coldness seeped out from betweenher brows.

Since he only treated her as an accident, there was no need for him to barge into her life like this.

She wondered if he just wanted to make a fool of her, or if he just wanted to conquer her as

a man.

David looked at the woman who turned around and left. He hurriedly chased after her. “Let

go of me!” Rachel struggled with all her might.

David wrapped his arms around her waist forcefully. He was half gentle and half forceful as he pulledher into his arms. “You haven’t even heard me out.”

“I don’t think there’s more you have to say than I need to hear!” Rachel rejected his request without anyhesitation. There was obvious anger in her tone.

It turned out that in his eyes, their relationship was just an accident.

Since that was the case, she didn’t know why he had to get involved in her life these days. “What aboutthe dinner? What about the bunch of roses by the bed?” she thought.

“I didn’t expect to meet you, but I did. I never thought that I would fall in love with you, but I couldn’tstop falling in love with you. This is the accident in my eyes.” David sighed softly.

“I understand your timidity. I can see the sensitive soul in your heart. You don’t need to take theinitiative to do anything for me. I’m willing to wait until you take the initiative to open your heart andaccept me. I can be sure that you’re mine for the rest of your life!”

The man’s deep voice became gentle, like the gentleness of the spring breeze, like a mountain streambrushing past her heart, making Rachel’s heart beat wildly again.

She looked up at the man in front of her. The corners of his lips curled up into a smile, carrying aninsufferably arrogant aura that he rarely showed.

She swallowed and struggled gently. “It’s getting late. I should go home now.”

“Get in the car. I’ll drive you home.”

When the two of them crossed the road, David quietly reached out and hugged her waist.

Rachel raised her eyebrows slightly and glanced at him indifferently.

It had to be said that David was really good at testing a woman.

She didn’t know how much longer she could hold on.
