Chapter 91

Perhaps the heavens had sensed David’s eagerness for rain, the rain gradually became heavier, andthere were faint signs of a storm.

David ran into the car in the rain and successfully drenched himself. He also asked the driver to turn onthe air conditioner in the car. As expected, David sensed that his body temperature was a littleabnormal in the middle of the night.

David took out a thermometer and measured it. It was 101.3°F.

David got up and threw all the fever medicine and cold medicine the servants had prepared into thetoilet bowl to flush them away. Then, David returned to the bed and revealed a satisfied smile.

The next morning, the sun was shining brightly.

After last night’s heavy rain, the air was faintly filled with the smell of grass and earth.

Rachel changed her clothes and was about to go downstairs. When Rachel opened the door, shehappened to meet Mrs. Brown who passed by the door.

“Good morning, Miss Grey.” Mrs. Brown greeted Rachel with a smile when she saw Rachel. Sensingthat Rachel’s gaze was on the decoction in her hand, Mrs. Brown hurriedly explained, “Mr. Jones wasfine yesterday. However, he suddenly had a fever this morning. I think it was probably because he wasdrenched in the rain last night. I don’t know where the fever medicine at home went, so I brewed someheat–relieving decoction for him first.”

Rachel couldn’t help but be worried. “Have you informed the doctor?”

“Yes.” At the mention of this, Mrs. Brown could not help.but sigh. “But Mr. Jones has never liked to takemedicine. I have no choice.”

“Give it to me.” Rachel raised her hand and fiddled with the hair by her ear to hide the unnatural lookthat flashed across her face.

Mrs. Brown was stunned for a moment. She secretly sized up Rachel, and a fleeting smile appeared inher eyes. “Thank you, Miss Grey.”

Rachel pursed her lips and took the tray with both hands.

After watching Mrs. Brown leave, Rachel turned around and walked toward David’s bedroom with thedecoction.

Rachel knocked on the door and heard David’s low and hoarse voice. “Come in!”

Rachel pushed open the door and realized that David was not resting on the bed. Instead, he wasflipping through a document in his hand.

Compared to his usual dress of a black shirt, today, David was wearing dark blue pajamas. The outlineof his collarbone and his sexy Adam’s apple could be vaguely seen at the collar.

The thin pajamas clung to David’s body, vaguely outlining his strong and sexy chest muscles.

His sleeves were rolled up, revealing firm arms. The blue blood vessels protruded, looking especiallystrong.

“Get out after putting the things down.” David’s indifferent voice sounded in the quiet bedroom,revealing an indifference that kept people a thousand miles away.

Perhaps sensing that the person didn’t move, David raised his eyes and his pitch–black gaze piercedstraight through with a piercing coldness.

That bone–chilling gaze was like a dagger pressed against Rachel’s heart. Rachel held her breath andtightened her grip on the tray. Her legs went weak as if she was stepping on clouds, and she did notdare to move.

When David saw Rachel, the coldness in his eyes disappeared in an instant, and a gentle smileappeared. “Why are you up so early?”

David closed the document in his hand and waved at Rachel.

Rachel took a deep breath, pursed her lips, and walked toward David with the tray. “I heard from Mrs.Brown that you have a fever.”

Rachel placed the tray on the bedside table and raised her hand to test the temperature of David’sforehead with the back of her hand. Rachel frowned slightly. “You didn’t take your medicine?”

“It’s fine.” David pulled Rachel’s hand from his forehead, his fingers caressing the protruding joints ofher wrist.

Rachel’s originally slightly cold fingers on David’s palm instantly became hot. Rachel looked at David’sunusually red face and the worry between her brows intensified. “How can you not take medicine?”

As she spoke, Rachel stood up and prepared to get the first aid kit.
