Cara's

POV

I can't let her get away with this. It would be the end of the Kamaria pack. Lisa only cares about Lisa, that is all. She would drain the money out of the pack and then leave them high and dry. I may not have been treated great for the last five years here, but I had a good life here before that. I know that Lisa was the root cause of the bullying I went through after I turned eighteen. My father loved and helped build this pack. I needed to help them because if the pack fails, they will become rogues. I can't stand by and allow almost nine hundred wolves to become displaced. I was in front of Lisa instantly, and her maniacal laughter stopped. She was stunned to see me use my powers.

"If you had powers, why did you allow yourself to be locked inside the cell? You could have left at any time. I don't understand," Lisa said as she walked backward towards her parents. I have to admit that I enjoyed the fear she had towards me now. She has always had the upper hand between us. I was glad that Paxton reminded me of what she had done to me since she became Luna. I already have a plan to get her to accept his rejection.

"Not so fast, Lisa. I happen to agree with Paxton. You are the worst choice to be in charge here. I think the best idea is to leave Paxton's parents in charge, while they decide on what to do next. I can't allow you to have free reign to destroy this pack more than you already have. You are so happy to try to get rid of Paxton so you can run the pack. I am sorry, but I can't allow you to do that. I may not have had a lot of support the last five years I lived here. But Alpha Hugo and Luna Mary Anne were always nice to me. I can't allow the pack to suffer while you have your way. You are a terrible she-wolf, and you don't deserve to be rewarded," I told Lisa.

"I won't accept his rejection, Cara. I have nothing else if I'm not the Luna here. The least I can do is run the pack. I won't have a mate anymore and can't have children. My life is ruined, so I deserve this, considering what my life has become. I won't let you take this away from me too, bitch," Lisa shrilly cried out.

I leaned forward to speak into her ear. "I don't think you are going to have a choice," I said with a smile. I wanted her to strike out at me. I was about to pay her back for some of the injuries she caused me.

Lisa didn't hesitate to attack me. I learned how to defend myself from Brenna. I mostly learned defensive moves from her, as I am usually a non-violent person. Getting to pay Lisa back for the years of pain she put me through was a gift that I never realized that I wanted. I blocked her every attack, and with each missed opportunity, she got even angrier. She was swinging wildly now, but I still managed to block her.

I couldn't resist a dig. "Aren't you the Luna here? Have you always been this ineffective? A former Gamma and this is the best you can do?" I asked with a critical gaze. It set her off even more. She screamed out in frustration as she swung at me even harder now. I continued to prevent her from connecting, but now I started to fight back.

The moment I punched her in the face, she stopped and stared at me in surprise. So many emotions raced through me. Has she always been this bad of a fighter? She depended much more on her friends Tanya and Bridget than I ever knew. Three-on-one were better odds for them than me. I was never trained to defend myself, so I was powerless against them. As she touched her hand to her nose, her surprise turned into disbelief at seeing her blood on her hand.

Her growl of anger warned me of the pending attack, and I snapped back into a defensive stance. I wasn't worried about the warriors stepping in to help her. I was, however, worried about her mother stepping in to do just that. Her mother's face was twisted in anger as she watched me making a fool out of her daughter in front of a growing crowd. I knew I didn't have to worry about an attack behind my back. Knowing that gave me comfort and peace. I knew my mother and my mate would stop whoever decided to join the fight.

Sure enough, after I punched Lisa in the face again, her mother roared in anger and phased into a dark tan wolf. I didn't hesitate. I knew something was about to happen. Lisa's smug smile told me that she was about to have some help. I lifted my hand and held her mother's wolf suspended in the air, mid-leap. I guess Gamma Emily really would do anything to protect her daughter. She must have forgotten that my mother was also here and would do the same.

Lisa gasped in surprise at me, having stopped her mother. Not just her but the entire crowd around us suddenly realized I was no longer the pushover I used to be. I slid Gamma Emily in the air towards my mother and asked, "Can you hold onto her for me for a minute? I'll get around to her next." I didn't want to lose track of Gamma Emily and allow her to try to attack me again. I am going to be just as hard on her. I was happy to see it sinking in that the plan she and her mother came up with was the wrong move to make.

"Since Gamma Emily wants to bring our powers into this, I accept," I called out for everyone to hear. "Feel free to phase if you want to, Lisa; it makes no difference to me if you do or not. But I will move forward with having you accept Paxton's rejection. He reminded me of something, too, Lisa. All those times you broke my bones or hurt me bad enough to have to go to the pack hospital. I remember feeling terrified of telling the pack doctor who did it after you threatened me with doing even worse the next time. I think it's time for you to get a taste of what you put me through."

"No! You can't force me to accept his rejection. I won't do it; it isn't allowed. This pack is going to be mine, Cara," Lisa shrieked as she ran away.

I let her run away. I wanted her to think she could get away before I picked her up into the air and brought her back. I was back in the grove, as I have practiced this very move to warm up for two weeks now. Lisa screamed the whole way back. I am not going to enjoy hurting her, not like she enjoyed hurting me. But she needs this lesson as she has no empathy or remorse for her actions.

"You can't force me to accept the rejection," Lisa screeched out.

"She can. There is no law against it. It is frowned upon when it is used under duress. But you know firsthand how it felt when you forced your mate to accept the rejection you gave him. How was it fair for you to do it to him when he didn't want to accept it? This is the same thing, only you are about to get some of the treatment you gave, Cara. It is exactly the same. I am glad I am getting to witness some karma coming back and hitting you for once," Rex called out. The Alphas present agreed with him, nodding their heads in agreement. "Where do you want it? Any requests?" I asked Lisa.

"What are you talking about?" Lisa replied in frustration.

"I am asking you what you want me to break. You have broken my right arm four times. My left arm three times. My right leg three times and my left leg twice. I could start with some fingers, as that is where you started with me," I nodded as I had just decided what I wanted to do. I ignored the looks of sympathy from those around me and focused on Lisa. I have healed up, and my mother helped me with my memories. I still remember them, but the pain involved had been dulled. I no longer wake up screaming in fear anymore.

I took no joy in doing this, but I broke every finger on Lisa's right hand with the flick of my wrist. Her shrill scream drove the birds out of the nearby trees. I know it hurts. She had done it to me, and she had felt no issue in doing it. At least she had a wolf to help her heal. Wait, not she doesn't. I can sense her wolf there, but she seems to be glad that Lisa is being punished.

"Ready to accept yet?" I asked her. I was hoping that she would refuse again, as I was going to deal her a painful blow to her right leg next. I will not stop until she accepts his rejection. I am not doing this for Paxton. I am doing it for all the pack members who live here. I am doing it for the ones who depend on this pack to keep them safe. They would have nowhere to go, and most packs can only take a small amount at once. No one would be able to help them stay together with eight hundred and seventy-eight people in this pack.

"You bitch, how could you do that to me? No! I will never give up my position. Do your worst, Cara. I will go to the hospital and heal. At the end of the day, I will still be in charge of Kamaria. I'm not worried about you at all," Lisa said through a grimace of pain. She believed that she would be able to outlast the pain. She is about to learn a hard lesson.

"OK, Lisa. I guess I will have to try harder then," I told her. She still thought that I was weak. She thought I was the same Cara who left here just a few weeks ago. She thought I would give up and leave here as I had no ties to the pack anymore. I looked around at the familiar faces around us. The crowd had grown during the fight. I didn't want them to think I did this out of malice. I was doing this so they wouldn't lose everything.

So, I spoke to them and told them what she would do. I can see their expressions change-some in understanding and some in anger. I wouldn't leave this alone for Lisa to try to come back and lie to them about what happened later. Most of the pack members in the crowd knew what she had done to me. I saw Tanya and Bridget in the crowd, watching as well. I didn't miss the fear on their faces when they noticed I had seen them. They were safe from me; they held me still, but they weren't the ones who hurt me. I turned back to Lisa with a smile. I will get this done quickly, as I realized that she really isn't worth my time.
