Saoirse's

POV

I chuckled and said, "Clay, did you lie to your friends? I replace it funny that you still can't come up with an actual reason for how any of this is our fault. Why don't you tell your friends the truth, Clay? The end is near. How about you try to tell the truth for once," I mocked. He had finally wised up and started hitting my barrier with a barstool. It was not as draining for me to keep it in place, but I still had to use some power to keep it in place. I needed to push him into emptying his bullets. I might have to use more power to keep it in place against the bullets. But he will be much easier to deal with once he is out of bullets. My words worked perfectly; at my provocation, he calmly drew his gun out and started shooting again. I had to look down to keep from showing him how happy I was. I wanted this, and I sent Cara a message to tell her what I was doing.Kevin stood next to Cara, his anger at the men written all over his face. He had held Luna in his arms as she had been scared by the gunshots ringing out. Once she knew that Cara could protect them, she calmed down. I was concerned about how much power Cara was using. I knew she wouldn't last more than five or ten minutes longer. I needed to move this along for both of us.

"Clay, stop this! We need to leave. They are probably already here. We can leave Tom behind for him to be dealt with, but we need to get out of here now," the man who spoke earlier advised.

Clay hates to be disrespected, so I egged it on. "You heard your men, Clay. You need to leave. You failed, probably due to a lack of planning and your ego. I will go out on a limb here and guess something else. I think the Goddess wants us to deal with you. You are making her look bad with the bad things you are doing. You need to pull your head out of your ass and think. He mentioned you had plans elsewhere, so why are you even here? You are so bent out of shape by all your failures that you can't even stand it. You feel the need to blame us for your downfall when in fact, you were the one who screwed everything up," I said.

I gave him a guileless look. I knew that we were innocent of his accusations. He needed someone to pin the blame on, but no matter what he said to them, he was the only one at fault. His men shifted in discomfort. They were getting more nervous by the minute. I need to work them up against Clay. He won't take it lying down, and he will probably kill one of them in his anger. I hate ot say it, but that is what I want to happen.

The other man will have to choose what to do next. Either draw down on Clay or continue to follow his plan even while it breaks apart. As the silence drags on, I know it's a matter of time before that happens. I plan on egging them into it much faster than that, as time was not on our side.

"George, look outside. Is anyone here yet? Check all the windows," Clay finally muttered. He must think we are stupid. Does he think they will all be on the front lawn? After all those shots being fired? I couldn't contain my scoff. If anyone is here, they will be against the west side of the house.”"Looks like you're on a site that's taken this content from o. Don't settle for less-get the real deal straight from the source. Head over to now for exclusive content and updates." The end of the house that faces the new edition. They can't see that

direction from inside the home. They would have to go out and look. I also know if they did that, there would be one less of them very quickly.

I stayed quiet as George went to check the peek. the front door and each window before coming back and saying, "I don't see anyone out there, Clay, but I agree with Paul. We don't need to wait for them to arrive before we leave. We need to take this opportunity and get the hell out of here. We all grew up hearing about this pack. They won't take this lying down. I don't believe they embellished what happened here five years ago. We have pushed our luck far enough."

"Are you scared?" Clay sneered at George. "I'm in charge here, and I say that we are staying until they die."

"Who put you in charge, Clay?" I asked with a laugh. "Surely they didn't. I doubt they asked you to lead them into Black Adder. They seem like capable men. But it doesn't look like they have any faith in you." I knew my smug smile was setting him off.

Clay gave me a death glare. He knows what I am doing. He wants to shut me up, but we both know he can't stop me from speaking. My smile grows as I watch the other three start to murmur to each other. My plan works no matter what happens now. Whether they leave or try to kill Clay is a win for us. Clay sees me glancing over at them and immediately walks over. He has to get back control before things get even worse for him.

At first, they tried to keep their voices down, which was pretty smart for this group. I know he didn't want us to get tipped off about what they were discussing. But we all knew what it was. Three of them wanted to leave. I can't see Clay being able to change their minds. He will beg for time, but I think we have this. He will be forced to leave Black Adder before our power runs out. I don't even bother hiding my smirk now; we won, and he will be furious.

I hope they don't honestly think they will be able to leave. They won't. I will make sure of that myself. He isn't paying attention to me, but I need to hurry this along.

"Clay, you must admit that you are the reason for all this. Your bad choices. Your evil plans. It was all you. I heard what you did at your pack. I can't believe you honestly thought the Council would allow you to be a Beta ever again. You were a Beta for like a month. You are probably one of the worst Beta ranks in our history. It amazes me that even though James was twenty years your senior, you still couldn't beat him in a fair fight. That must have been so embarrassing for a young, strong guy like you," I said with a grimace.

I didn't feel bad for him at all. But I do feel like his buddies needed to know who he was. I highly doubt he told them what he had done. There was still some honor among thieves, so I doubt they would follow him if they knew who he was. Clay was good at that, though. He had Paxton, and Rex fooled that he was a good guy. They had known each other for the majority of their lives. It just shows that sometimes you only see the face they want you to see.

"Shut up, bitch! You don't even know me," Clay yelled over his shoulder at me and started to try some damage control. But there was no way I would allow him to twist things around in his favor again.

"Clay, didn't you tell your friends what you did? How did you become a Beta? Your brother already had the job. It was his birthright. You never would have been a Beta, if you weren't clinging onto Paxton. You even had someone else end the Beta you wanted to replace. You were scared to death of James. You were too scared to fight him for his position because you knew you would lose. You had to resort to tampering with his vehicle to get him out of the picture, and you couldn't even do that. You have others do the dirty work for you to try to keep your hands clean. That is pathetic, Clay. You are completely deplorable, and I'm not the only one who thinks that either," I said with a smile.

Several shots rang out from Clay's gun as he attempted to kill me. The bullets bounced off my barrier as if he threw a handful of rocks at it. I tilted my head and looked at him. It hadn't worked before. Why would he think it would work now? He was almost shaking in his anger now. "Shoot at her, only her. As long as Saoirse dies, I am fine with leaving as soon as that is accomplished," Clay said with ice almost dripping from his words.

Now, I didn't intend on that happening. I had a good barrier up, but I didn't have to use all my strength to keep it up. As his men approached me, I saw they were ready to test the strength of my barrier. He just told them if I got killed, they could leave. I didn't anticipate Clay coming up with this plan. I glanced over at Cara, knowing she would be worried about me. She knew I would have to bolster the barrier to keep them from getting to me. I was already tired before they arrived. I wasn't prepared for Clay to figure out how to get through my protection. If they had stayed separated, I would have had no problem. With all three of them shooting at me, it would only be a matter of two, maybe three, minutes before they managed to break through. Fear must have shown on my face as Clay walked up to my barrier and said, "You may be right. I might never have been able to beat James, but that doesn't matter anymore. I am about to beat you, bitch. I have to admit that is good enough for me, Saoirse."

He stepped back, and bullets started raining down on me. They were on three sides of me like a triangle, trying to replace a weak spot. This was not good. I was trying so hard to keep it up as best I could. My hands were held out as if I was physically holding to barrier up. My eyes were closed as I tried to focus as much as I could on keeping it in place. I didn't want to give up. I couldn't give up with this barrage of bullets. It was getting much harder to protect myself on all sides; I was getting weaker by the second.

I was not going to be able to hold out much longer. I wanted to tell Cara how much I loved her before I linked Robert to tell him goodbye. Everything I did today was to protect her and her sisters. They needed to live on. I am sure that Robert will get a second chance mate. I never wanted it to end things like this. I would do anything for my babies, but they are not letting up.These men are terrified, and they want to leave. Clay did this, and I wanted to kill him for it. For taking my happy life away from me. For not allowing Robert and I to grow old together. For not allowing me to see my precious babies. I couldn't stop the tears that ran down my face. I did my best, but it was time to say my goodbye's.
