Betrayed by My Pack – Wolfless Hybrids Escape -
Chapter 51 –
Paxton's POV
I texted Lena last night to call me sometime this morning, but she didn't answer. She texted me that she had training and then her work to do before she could leave the pack to make sure that she was not overheard. She is pissing me off, as we only have five days to get the plan in place. We would be putting the plan into play on the sixth day, so I was getting nervous. Things needed to move forward properly, and Lena was the holdup. It was a slap to my face, but as an Alpha, I knew that she had to do her job in the pack. So, I forced myself to calm down. I would have dropped her, but she is the only way I can get Cara and her sisters back. I have to play nice for now.
I knew I was just angry because Lisa refused to back down last night. She was all over me and kept serving me drinks until I was willing to sleep with her. She was wearing her best lingerie and was intent on making sure I accepted her advances. I didn't give her exactly what she wanted. She wanted me to get her off, too, but I was done with her. I knew exactly why she was doing this. It was a last-ditch effort to bear my pup. So I gave her my seed, but I already knew it wouldn't work. After sleeping with her well over a thousand times in the last three years, I doubt that this session would give me the pup I needed.
I didn't want Lisa to bear my pup, but I would not terminate it if she did get pregnant. I needed the heir, and if the first one came from Lisa, so be it. Once Lena texted me that she could call until around two, I let Clay and Rex go out to do their work. It had piled up a little while we were injured. "Attention! This chapter belongs to Jobb.. I sent a mindlink to Rex, asking him to order our lunch to be brought up to my office so we could eat while we waited for Lena's call. I knew I hadn't eaten, and I am sure that they hadn't either.
I cannot shake the feeling that Lena has bad news for us. I hope she hasn't been caught. No, she wasn't going to allow herself to get caught. She is an opportunist, just like Lisa. She would leave someone else holding the bag for this. She will probably throw the vampire under the bus if she has to. She won't be letting herself get caught. She wants Jaxon. I thank the Goddess that Lena is willing to do anything to make that happen, just like Lisa.
Lena may want him, but he will never let her be his chosen. That family likes to wait for their mates. He will get permission to attack me, but that will take a few days. I had my architect draw up the house plans yesterday afternoon. We all had input in what we wanted them to have. Rex made an excellent point that we had to limit the exits and add several more bedrooms. It was now twice as big as we first thought. I forgot that they would be giving us heirs. I guess I had hoped that they would be less likely to want to leave here once they had been here for a year and born our pups.
It will probably take a few years, at least two, for them to finally accept their fate. To acknowledge that no matter what, they would never be able to leave here again. They were loving women, so they wouldn't want to leave without their pups. We would never allow that to happen. They would only be able to see their pups with good behavior. Being good to us their mate, would result in visits with their children. That was something we all agreed on.
They had already started on the new home we needed. The foundation had been poured around four pm yesterday. We needed their home to be up by the time they arrived. I didn't want to wait to get them in there. I have offered a large bonus to the building crew to get this done in a timely manner. The lumber order already came in this morning, along with the pipes and electrical. Everything that was needed was here, down to the screws and nails. The roofing materials have been ordered and will be here by Monday.
I have contacted an interior designer, and Clay has pictures of their rooms at the Beta house. That way, she knows what colors they each like to use to make their rooms and how they would like them to be. We are on a time crunch now, and I already gave her fifty thousand to start the designs. She is coming by tomorrow to show me what she has come up with and what they will need. Everyone knows to keep quiet about who the new home will belong to. I asked that they send them to me if any questions arose. It is no one's business what I do here. After taking away Lisa's card, I might save money by the year's end. She burned through a hundred thousand a month just on stuff for her. So, as far as I am concerned, I am already ahead with saving money for the pack.
At two fifteen, my phone rang, and I was relieved to see it was Lena. "You're late," I growled. She might be helping us out here, but she needs to realize that I do not like to be kept waiting.
"I'm sorry. The training class ran over, and I had a lot to do before I could get free. I am sorry to say that I don't have great news," Lena stated. My heart dropped, did someone replace out what she was planning. "I'm dropping the call," I told her, disguising my voice. I can't be involved in her trapping me in anything that could get me in trouble.
"I'm alone. I will video call you if you need me to prove it. The problem is the vampire. She tried to attack Cara yesterday, which I already told you. What I didn't know is that Alexei found out about the attack, and he is furious with her. He is trying to kick her out of the coven. She said that if we had approached her a few days ago, she would have helped for free, but now she can't," Lena told us.
"What does she want?" I asked. This is pissing me off. I am already hemorrhaging money with this new build. Things are tight. I should have already known this would cost me money.
"Jana said that she either wants a quarter of a million so she can replace a new place to live or," Lena hesitated, and I knew that whatever she was about to say would be worse than the large amount of money this woman wanted from me.
"Or what, Lena?" I prodded. She needs to stop stalling and spit it out. "I have to get Cara and her sisters out of there, so what exactly does she need from us to get that done?"
"She wants you to build her a house. She said it is fine outside your pack, but that she wanted to be kept safe for her sticking her neck out," Lena quickly said.
We all froze. That is not something that we would even consider. We do not want her, especially right next door. Jaxon was crazy to be willing to allow them to live there. We don't mix with their kind. My pack would not be happy if they found out we were protecting a bloodsucker right next to the pack. I can't allow that to happen.
"Paxton, that might not be a bad idea, or not as bad as you think it might be," Clay started out. I could see the wheels turning in his mind as he formed an idea.
"I don't care what you are thinking, Clay. Our pack would be horrified if we brought a leech here to pick them off one at a time. There would be an uproar. They would not accept it. We can't do that," I told him. He has lost his mind.
"Paxton, you know as well as I do that we have to have the vampire help us. We can't get them out without her. Our hands are tied. Plus, that vampire that wants Cara will be coming here to get her back. He doesn't have to wait on the Werewolf Council. That guy will be hot on our heels, and he is a killing machine. We can't take him out. We need a vampire here to protect us. Who better than the girl he just rejected? Maybe she can replace another vampire to help who would be willing to do it for a safe place to live. Our people will leave them alone, I am sure of it. We can't fight against vampires properly. Think about it. The pack might not love having bloodsucking neighbors. Hell, I don't want them either. But they will have to get over it. I am sure that when they take out Alexei and his group, who, no mistake, WILL be coming to kill us to take the girls back. The pack will appreciate having them here to protect us," Clay laid it all out for us.
"Shit, I didn't think about that. You are right; they will come, and they will attack. We could lose a hundred warriors easily if we didn't have a few vampires of our own to counteract them. It would be a massacre," I stated as I ran my hand through my hair.
This whole thing has taken on a life of its own. I may be able to use the vampires to help me out with Lisa. They could eliminate her, and no one would be the wiser. Maybe having them here wouldn't be so bad after all. I could use them to ensure the girls are kept in line. "I agree, Paxton. I believe the pack will be happy that they were here to help us when we get attacked. But they must swear they will help us when we do get attacked. That is the deal, Lena. Tell Jana to look around for someone who would be willing to help her. She only needs one person. We can get the women out even quicker with three of you behind the scenes at that point," Clay replied.
"So is that what you want me to ask them, Paxton? You are willing to build them a house outside your pack and provide them security?" Lena asked.
"Yes, I will build a two-bedroom, two-bath home for them to live in. We will protect them from anyone who tries to do them harm. Ensure they understand the caveat that they have to be willing to help us fight when Alexei comes to attack us. If that is acceptable to them, let me know. I will replace a site to build it on outside our pack. But if they are not willing to fight, I will kill them myself, make sure they are aware of that," I told her. I was not going to be playing with these vampires. They have a deal if they are willing to help us get the women out of Black Adder and are willing to help protect our pack.
