Betrayed by My Pack – Wolfless Hybrids Escape -
Chapter 95 –
Alexei's POV
We were in the air fifty minutes after Paxton took our mates. We were not too far behind them, but my anxiety was high. My team is always prepared to be quick, ready at almost a moment's notice. They already knew that this one would be one of the most important missions we would ever participate in. It wasn't just my mate on the line, it was Jaxon's and Kevin's too. Paxton is never even going to see us coming. We will try to kill only the five of them, but that also depends on whether his pack members can listen to reason. It was going to be six getting
killed, but we found Lena's body shortly after arriving at the airfield.
No one felt any pity at all for her. She had brought this all on herself. Jaxon was actually hoping to be the one who ended her. His anger was ready to burst, but he tried to hold it in until we got to Kamaria. I had checked in on Saoirse and Cheryl in the hospital. They were both still asleep, but we knew what we were dealing with now. Several members of Jaxon's pack ended up at the hospital. After the first twenty cases, it was determined to be wolfsbane poisoning. They started treating everyone who had ingested the punch.
We all knew now that Lena had been the one behind it. Jaxon had sent Beta Blane and Delta Atlas out to check the weapons storage warehouse. They didn't tell Lena's father, Eddie, why they were there. They discovered that two bottles of wolfsbane were gone, but nothing else had been taken. They had just texted that information to Jaxon. We were still discussing the manner of our attack.
The plane was almost full, with eighteen of us and two pilots. Since we were not taking the two stewardesses, we could hold twenty-one passengers on the plane, not counting the two pilots. So we could take eighteen with us there and still have spots for our mates to return with us. It was surprisingly quiet on the plane. It told of the serious nature of what had happened tonight. Most of my team was in the back of the main cabin, where the seating was more like a plane and side by side. Anton and I had bought this jet last year. He wanted more room for him to be able to bring his growing family with him. I agreed with him, as I was hoping to be able to do the same with my family one day.
The main area of the plane where we were currently sitting had four reclining chairs-two of them on either side of the plane. We had pulled out the hidden tables that rest inside a cabinet when not in use. I wanted us to get a plan together before we landed. I already had Jaxon call in a favor and got us transportation from a larger pack less than a hundred miles from Paxton's pack. They were going to arrive at the airfield before we even touched down.
Jaxon had called Alpha Peter because he suspected that Paxton had used his private jet to take our mates, and he had. Jaxon didn't have a treaty with Alpha Peter, but Paxton did. Once Alpha Peter realized what Paxton had done while using his plane, he wanted to assist us. He didn't want to be in the middle of a war, especially not one with Black Adder, which was smart on his part.
Anton and I had several businesses all over the world. We needed a private jet to do spot checks and use it for our missions. We can't travel on commercial airlines. We occasionally have equipment that causes others to raise their eyebrows at us. We also need to be able to have the main area of the plane dark when it is daylight out. So, having a personal jet was the best choice for us, and we could afford it.
I was surprised that Brandon and Justin were with us on this trip. I thought for sure that they would stay behind with Raven. But they were furious and excellent strategists. They were both very strong, excellent fighters, and excellent shots, so I was glad to have them here with us. They had both kissed Raven goodbye and headed straight to go get their weapons and ammo. They sat on the couch behind our chairs, in the middle of the cabin, listening to our discussion. My brother Anton sat with them, and also interjected occasionally. He wouldn't stay behind; he wanted to kill Jana and Anika for hurting Cheryl.
Casey and Robert were at the hospital with Cheryl. Blake watched the children with Raven's two youngest children, Julie and James. The twins were now seventeen and a half and had been happy to help. They knew that something had happened, but Raven hadn't wanted to scare them by telling them until everyone had recovered. The twins loved playing with Cheryl and Anton's children. Raven is a force of nature. She wanted to come with us, too. It was all Brandon and Justin could do to get her to agree to stay at Black Adder. Asking her to be in charge of the pack, with her father and brothers. She was recovering from a concussion and wasn't allowed to fly.
They hit Saoirse and Cheryl the hardest. They had considered them the most dangerous in the group. It was hard to kill a vampire, I should know. I am an expert at it, along with my teammates. Paxton honestly thought he was safe having Jana and Anike there with him. He forgot one thing. They are worthless in the sunlight, which is when we will attack. After the sun rises. I wanted to run in and do it now, but calmer heads prevailed.
We are getting some rooms at a hotel, as we will land a little before eleven tonight. I doubt that most of us will rest, but the plan we devised was a good one. Anton had already booked several rooms for us to stay in. We all needed some rest, and the girls were safe at the moment. Fortunately, it seemed like the most they had done was kiss our mates. If they had gone any further, I would have gone straight there, jumped their wall, and killed anyone who tried to stop me from replaceing my mate.
They seemed to be OK for the moment. I was amazed by how efficient my team was. Dmitry was laser-focused at the moment. He had everyone ready to go and was already making plans before we got to the plane. We went on missions a lot. He is the one who thinks through everything and puts forth the best plan of attack. He has never failed me. I trust him and Ivan as much as I trust my own brother. Dmitry had come over and given his opinion within ten minutes of take off.
I was glad he was here because the worry I felt for Cara was rendering me unable to form any kind of a plan. I just wanted to go there, deal with the five of them, and get my mate back. It just wasn't going to be that simple. Each member of my team has special skills. On this trip, it may be Nadia and her ability of telekinesis that will prove most effective. Jaxon and Kevin were just as affected as I was. We are all three powerful leaders, reduced to just being men who were worried about our mates. Brandon, Justin, and Anton all understood. Their mates had been hurt, too, yet they were calm and ready to deal with Paxton in the harshest way possible. Anton was entrusted to kill Anika, and I was going to kill Jana. We had decided that once we heard Dmitry's plan. Tatiana was here on the plane. She had come with Trevor for the Luna Ceremony. She is the oldest daughter of Reagan and Clive. She is the best tracker around. She is smart, and she is fast. Dmitry brought some of Jana and Anika's clothes they left behind to help Tatiana replace them. I saw how distracted Dmitry was, and at any other time, I would be so happy for him. But until I get Cara back, I cannot focus on anything else. Polina was going to go with Tatiana, and Anton and I. Once Tatiana replaces where they are going to be, Polina will escort her back out safely. They will leave the rest to me and my brother. That helped to calm me down, I will make absolutely sure that Jana suffers for what she has done. Dmitry made sure that his mate would be safe. I couldn't blame him for doing that. It is a natural reaction to protect the one you love. Jaxon would go to the gate with Kevin and Trevor to speak to Paxton and demand the release of our mates. I know that Paxton seems to think that having Jana and Anika working for him will protect him from me. They are still fledglings and had been humans. They have no special powers and cannot be in the sun, although I can assure you they will be getting plenty of it tomorrow.
I already knew that since Cara hadn't come back home, they had managed to get here to drink the punch, too. I knew that if Saoirse were awake, she would have gone to get them herself despite her weakened condition. I would be having a word with Robert when I returned. He hadn't even realized what he had done yet, as he was still a little out of it. He was so worried about Saoirse that he insisted on coming to stay in the room with Saoirse and his mother. I will make very sure that he learns exactly what his good friend Adra had done to get Lena to help her.
The pilot advised us to prepare for landing, and everyone buckled back in. I was still anxious, but we had a lot laid out on the trip. We had earpieces so we could communicate with each other, and we were running this like it was one of our missions. Paxton messed up, and no matter what, he won't be bouncing back from this with a slap on the wrist. Tomorrow, we will dole out the punishment he and his friends deserve. We will make sure that his pack knows just what their ranked wolves have done. Killing Beta James like they did was going to be an unforgivable act.
The pack will not want to believe it, as it was shocking. Brenna and Luna were respected, and they will be believed. I hate that they will not listen to Cara so she won't have to speak. But I will take the opportunity to make sure that she is OK. I need to hold her and comfort her. That is the only thing that will calm me down at this point. I looked at Jaxon and saw the same blood lust in his eyes.
Jaxon might face the Council for doing this, but I will stand with him. I won't let him bear the brunt of it. I know that Kevin and Trevor will stand with him, too. He warned the Council. He warned Paxton, too. He asked them to advise Paxton to stop so the council wouldn't have a leg to stand. They warned Paxton, too. Paxton took not just one Luna but two. There is no way he would be able to get away with that. He might be thinking that he got away with it tonight, but there is no place that he can hide from us. We are coming, and we will get our mates back. No matter what Paxton tries to do.
