Between Heaven and Hell -
CHAPTER FIFTEEN
HE STARED at his phone's screen for a long time before he finally decided to call Helene. It did not take long before she answered his call. "Yo! What can I do for you?" she asked giddily.
"Remember last time... when you told me that I should-"
"Oh, that!" Helene said, cutting his sentence. "So, have you finally decided?"
Jonathan heaved a sigh. "Yes, I decided to do what you told me."
"At last, you listened! You know what, I can see great potential in you. And because of that, you should start today."
"Wait! Today?"
"Uhm, yeah. Today is not tomorrow, so today." Helene laughed. "Don't worry, Jonathan. Because this is your first, I'm not going to give you a hard task. Let's start with the easy one." "Okay. So, what is my first quest?"
"A good friend of mine recently asked for my help. He's feeling something in his workplace for the past few months. I want you to check if there's a ghost there." "Ghost hunting?" His brows furrowed.
"Yeah. You're a medium. You can see, talk, and feel them. Don't worry, Oreo will come and assist you." Jonathan heard Helene talked to someone in the background. It must be Oreo. "Your cousin will come and pick you up. Good luck, man." He plopped down on the bed when she hung up, only to sat up afterwards when he remembered that it was a Sunday and Momo was supposed to use his body. She would probably throw a tantrum when she replaces out.
Jonathan left the bed and went inside the bathroom and took a quick bath. Oreo would arrive anytime soon to fetch him. Knowing his cousin, he would get mad if he was not ready yet when he gets home. He just finished taking a bath when the doorbell suddenly rang. Jonathan was certain that it was not his cousin. Who could it be?
He wrapped a towel around his waist and opened the door. A delivery guy holding a box greeted Jonathan.
"Hi, Sir! Good morning," he greeted cheerfully. "Are you Jonathan San Miguel?"
"Yes, that's me. Why?"
"Kindly receive this parcel, Sir." He handed him the box.
He looked at the delivery receipt and saw his name written on it. It was from an online shop. But the thing is, he did not order anything online! Jonathan's eyes grew bigger when the realization hit him.
"Is this a scam?" he asked hysterically. "I'm not receiving this. I'm not going to pay something I didn't order "
"No, Sir. It's not a scam. You don't have to pay for it either."
His brows furrowed.
"E-eh?"
"Sir, I just need a photo of you holding the parcel as proof." Then, there was a flash of light from the phone. "Thank you, Sir."
The delivery guy left, and Jonathan was left dazed.
"Damn that guy. He took a picture of me wrapped in a towel." He kicked the door close and went back inside his room.
Jonathan put the box down on his table and stared at it for a couple of seconds. He really had no idea who sent it and what was inside.
He shook his head and reached for the cutter to open it.
"What the..." he uttered upon seeing what was inside the box.
Facial wash, toner, moisturizer, blackheads remover, face sheets, and many more he had no idea what were for greeted him. He was ready to throw them away when he suddenly realized something.
He got his phone and checked his bank account through the mobile app. There was this online transaction made a few days ago, and he was not aware of it. However, Jonathan knew very well that he was not scammed by online frauds, but with a ghost!
"Momo!" he screamed at the top of his lungs.
That must be the reason why he could not feel her presence since he woke up. She was hiding from him because she did something.
Jonathan turned around immediately when he felt Momo's presence behind him.
"There you are!" He pointed a finger at her.
"You're almost naked-oh! My orders arrived! Finally!" She flew past him. The excitement was evident in her voice.
He crossed his arms over his chest and watched her hovered above the box full of skincare products.
"Why did you buy something you cannot even use?"
Momo did not cause trouble this time around, but she stole his money.
"You told me to take care of your precious body," she countered. "So, I bought you these products. Gosh, do you even know how I freak out each time I will touch your face? Well, it was you who's touching it technically, though... But still, I could feel it because I possessed your body. Your skin is so dry, and that's gross, okay? You can thank me later, Jonathan."
He pinched the bridge of his nose.
"I don't need that. I'm fine with my skin. It's you who wanted-Wait! How did you know my bank account details?"
"Do you really think you can hide it from me?" Momo laughed.
Jonathan massaged his forehead.
"From now on, you're not allowed to touch my money. I'm the only one allowed to make bank transactions. Is that clear?"
"You mean I can't buy food when you're starving?"
"Well, that's an exemption. What I'm telling you is that... you're not supposed to spend money just to buy unnecessary things." He sounds like a husband lecturing his shopaholic wife.
"Why are you acting like you'd go bankrupt? You still have six digits in your bank account. And why do you love your money so much when you told me that it's not what can make you happy?" Jonathan waved his hand dismissively. When it comes to that matter, he will be the one to decide.
He was about to take off the towel when he felt Momo watching her.
"What are you still doing here? Get out. I'm about to get dress."
"Come on, Jonathan. I'll just look away," she said naughtily.
"Momo!" he snarled.
Yes, she was a ghost, a mere soul rather. But Momo was still a woman, and he was a man. He needs to set boundaries.
"Fine! Fine!"
She went out of the room.
"No peeking or else..." he warned her.
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
He donned on his clothes quickly.
"Jonathan?" Momo yelled from the outside.
"What?" He fixed his hair.
"Are you done?"
"Not yet," he lied.
"Liar!" Momo appeared beside him.
"Why are you so impatient?" He gave her a side-way glance.
"Time is running, you know."
"Momo..." He turned to her. "I have an important matter to attend to today."
"What do you mean by that?" she asked in a low tone.
"You can't use my body today. I'm sorry."
"Argh!" she screamed frustratedly as she hovered above him.
"I promise I'll make it up to you," Jonathan said to console her.
Momo stopped just above his head.
"Then, take me with you..."
