Chapter 937 Silent Mode (2)
Chapter 937 Silent Mode (2)
Tomorrow was an official date. Stephanie thought to herself.
After returning to her room, she called Harold, but she did not expect that Spencer would pick up the phone.
"Grandpa, haven't you slept yet?" Stephanie looked at the time. It was almost ten o'clock.
"He just came back. He is full of injuries. I am cleaning his wounds." Spencer said.
"What? Is he injured? Where is he? Has he fainted?" Stephanie asked with a frown.
"No. What's wrong?" Harold asked.
"I'm calling to ask how you are doing. How did you get hurt? Did you get beaten up by those people?" When Stephanie thought of this possibility, she couldn't help but say, "Hurry up and quit. You don't have to earn money to support the family. I'm here"
"I was hit by a piece of wood. It wasn't a big deal? Harold said and made light of it.
"It's not a big deal. Only a large piece of skin on the back of his shoulder is gone." Spencer deliberately said exaggeratedly and sighed, "So much blood."
"What! Why are you so seriously injured?" Stephanie felt goosebumps all over her body.
"I'm fine. I'm fine. What about you? Is there anything wrong?" Harold took his phone, turned off the speaker, and said to Stephanie.
"No." Stephanie wanted to share her good mood of going on a date with someone tomorrow, but when she heard that Harold was injured, she immediately did not want to say anything else. After giving a few words of advice and hanging up the phone, she took a shower and went to sleep. When she got on the bed, she remembered that she had forgotten to apply the mask.
Stephanie did not go to have fun the next day. She received a call from the Relax Room early in the morning and rushed over. There was a patient, who had been suffering from depression, missing after returning. The patient's family searched for a day but could not replace him. They found the Relax Room and were making a scene at the reception. Stephanie should not show up to deal with this matter, but she still came out to appease the family members and called the police, asking the police to look for the patient.
Due to the police and patient's family members showing up in the Relax Room that day, many people with depression didn't dare to come over. The Relax Room was empty and quiet.
Stephanie sat in the office in a daze, waiting for the phone call from the patient's family and the police.
Later, John came.
When John walked into the office, Stephanie was still in a daze. She knew that someone had come in, but she did not realize that it was John. She just looked at him and asked, "What is it?"
John knocked on the office door, "Are you hungry? Let's go. I'll take you out to eat."
He heard about what happened here, but he did not ask anything. He just took Stephanie out and found a quiet place to sit down and have a simple meal.
Stephanie had no appetite. She only ate a few things. Then she said that she was going back to the hotel.
When they arrived at the hotel room, she remembered that John asked her out today. However, she left without saying goodbye to him.
"There are too many things today. Sorry. I'll treat you to a meal another day,' Stephanie said wearily.
"If you trust me, you can come to my place. I will take you to relax; John said.
"To your room?" Stephanie glanced at him.
"Yes. But if you don't trust me yet, it's alright." John said as he opened the door of his room.
Stephanie hesitated for a moment behind him and followed in.
John had lived here for a long time. It was a business suite. It had a sofa, coffee table, TV, and almost everything. There was also a small dining table. A reclining chair was near the French window, and a gray wool blanket was on the chair.
Stephanie casually looked around when she came in. She put her bag on the sofa and heard the sound of soft music in the room.
John had poured two glasses of wine. He had good taste. Stephanie took the glass and took a sip. "Not bad."
"I usually drink a little before I go to bed." John tilted his cup a little and said to her, "Come here. Take a look at the window."
Stephanie also stayed in a business suit, but she had never opened her curtains before. Even in the middle of the night, she did not have the habit of looking at the night sky. She had been used to avoiding paparazzi all year round, so wherever she went, she would subconsciously check if the windows and curtains were closed.
John took half a step. When he turned around, he saw Stephanie still standing by the sofa without moving. He could not help but think of something and suddenly smiled. "I almost forgot."
He closed the curtains, leaving only a crack in the middle. Then he turned back to look at Stephanie and said, "Is this OK?"
Stephanie walked over and looked out from the crack. The floor was not high, but the view was good. Neon lights were shining on the distant street, and a building facing them was still lit with an LED display
screen.
"Have a seat." John cleaned up the coffee table and moved it over. There was a chessboard on it. When he saw Stephanie staring at the chessboard, he explained, "Usually, I play alone."
Stephanie sometimes felt that he was very lonely. He ate, played chess, and drank alone. When she thought of herself, she could not help but laugh bitterly.
"What are you laughing at? You're not laughing at me, are you?" asked John, noticing her smile.
"No, Stephanie shook her head with a smile, "I just feel that a person playing chess alone is quite special."
John sat down, "Do you know how to play? Play a game with me."
Stephanie knew how to play. She sat down and her mood was a little more relaxed than before she came in.
The two chatted as they played chess. John was not local. His boss came over and opened a branch company. John's boss asked John to come over. John's boss had arranged an apartment for John, but one of the neighbors was renovating the apartment. It was so noisy that John could not sleep at night, so John simply stayed in the hotel.
