Billionaire's Regret
Chapter 45:

Aaron stood in front of the window. He just finished a quick call from Annie. This has him instantly worried. As per agreement she never reach out to him since they both knows that Gregor Damian was keeping a close eye on them both. "I want an answer Aaron." Grace was worried but covering her truth. She knows this can have serious consequences for her professional career.

"What is your problem?"

Aaron turns to look at her. Again he just realize he certainly needs his head examine to be involved with someone like this woman.

"Tell me the truth. I want to know how I was drugged over a period of years. I just know you were somehow also involved in that."

"Aaron I am a doctor whose motto is always, do no harm." Grace stood from behind her desk. She approached him. As she tries to reach out to him his words stilled her movement.

"Don't touch me Grace."

"I can't believe how cold you have become Aaron."

"Since the moment I found you and your lover my world has turned into a mess."

"That's not my fault, Aaron. You created this when you become involved with Annie Black. Since you also know another man claims her you keep refusing to accept his truth. What makes her so special?" Grace asks with barely concealed fury. "Annie was my wife long before I knew about you. She belongs only to me."Aaron declares furious.

"The bitch was a bloody child when you married her. I loved you long before you met her."

"Watch your tone of voice Grace."

"I am right though. I loved you from College."

"I don't know what you are talking about." Aaron suddenly looked at her frowning. "I just remember something that completely slipped my mind. Where are Sylvia and her brother Danny?"

"You don't know?" Grace suddenly sounded shocked and concern.

"What should I know?"

"They are both dead. The airplane that Gregor hired crashed."

"Bastard," Aaron suddenly feels guilty. He has failed someone who he promised to help. He just knows he should replace a way to sort his life. He has a wife and son but circumstances keep him away from a life with them.

Annie climbed into the car. She has noticed the waiting car knowing it would follow her.

"Thanks for coming Maude."

"Where are we going?" the young woman smiles before driving away.

"I need to go home but I also need to be somewhere else."

"Than what's the problem," Maude looked puzzled.

"The car following us, they are always there. This is driving me crazy."

"You should talk with Ricky and his boys. Those guys are into all sorts of things. The whole neighborhood was just waiting for you to reach out. We don't like those men always lurking around."

"What can they do?" Annie looked intrigued.

"I would suggest be candid with your issues. I am sure they would have a solution."

"Okay, where should I meet them?"

"I know just the place."

Aaron left the hospital. He drove directly to the building where he once met Sylvia. As he climbed out of his vehicle he stood looking at the building but was seeing a different picture. He now remembers when he was running for his life he entered this building. It has changed his life but he never remembered the implications. He knows for certain he left the orphanage to start working on his first oil rig. But then where does the memory of him being thrown from the mansion fits. He briefly remembers a school for troubled youth while being blind. Again, where does that picture fit?

"Sir, do you have some change?"

Aaron looks down at the dirty boy holding out his hand. He reached into his pocket and placed the whole wad of money in his hand. "Tell me about this building?" he points towards the apartments." "You want to buy it? You look you can afford it."

"I think a blind girl lived there. Do you know where she is?"

"I don't know." The boy starts to leave. "Ask the manager." He was gone.

Thom Black watches Aaron down in the street. He looks at the woman sitting in the corner. She looks so frail.

"Your son is outside." He said softly. He watches her struggle onto her feet before coming closer. She looks down into the street. It took a moment before she realized she was looking into his shocked eyes.

"I don't know how to answer his question Thom. I had hoped Annie would have contacted him."

Aaron stood looking at the upstairs window. He remembered like years ago it was the image of someone watching him that made him run into the building. The eyes lock into his looks so familiar. He found himself moving forward needing to know.

"Mom," he whispers. As he crosses the street, he didn't see the car driving directly towards him. He managed to jump out of the way. As he landed on the sideboard, the car stopped and doors opened.

The sudden blasts of gunshots startled him. Surprise he watched Mathew moving fast towards him. He looked back towards the car and the man who watched him. Getting onto his feet he starts to run... "Zac, your bastard!" he yells.

"Sir, stop." Mathew reaches him pushing him out of the way. The bullet grazed his arm.

"Bloody fuck. He shot me."

"You need to get off the street sir."

Aaron watched his former friend drives away.

Thom watches them. He notices another car parked a ways but Aaron wasn't aware. He watches him entering the apartment building. He finally looks back towards the woman who had a hard life. "It is time he knows the whole truth." "I know so much lies and deception. I rob him of a life that was rightfully his."

"Amongst it all you managed to give him a choice to be his own man. He can't blame you for that."

"My son and I have regrets I am not sure we could overcome. Maybe he is lucky with Annie."
