Chapter 78
Rebecca paced back and forth in her room, her hands trembling. Honestly, she wouldn’t care if someone else had said that, but Cathy was her good friend. How could she do that to her?
She stopped near Lily’s crib and crouched because her knees were too shaky. She felt very angry at a situation that always cornered her. But Angela’s words echoed in her ears, that she just had to be selfish and prioritize herself.
Once again, Lily’s crics saved her from prolonged overthinking. She quickly picked up Lily and looked deeply into her face..
“I’ll never let anyone take our happiness, Lily, I promise, even if I have to become a bitch,” she murmured, her eyes red as she finally shed tears.
After almost an hour of calming herself, she came out of the room with Lily in her
arms.
“Angela, sorry I suddenly fell asleep after bathing Lily and giving her milk,” Rebecca said with a guilty look.
Angela smiled broadly,
“No problem, I’ve been keeping myself busy with teleconferences to ensure everything goes smoothly tomorrow. You must be very tired. If you’re still sleepy, you can continue sleeping, and I’ll take care of Lily.”
Suddenly, the front door opened, and Sean appeared, carrying several shopping bags in
his hands.
“I bought burgers and fries for our lunch. Oh, my little princess!” Sean exclaimed, looking down at Lily in Rebecca’s arms.
“I’ll wash my hands and change clothes,” Sean said as he hurriedly placed all the shopping bags on the kitchen island and quickly headed to his room. But he suddenly remembered that his mother was there and would be confused to see him and Rebecca having separate rooms.
Rebecca swallowed hard, thinking the same thing. “Um, Angela, can you show me the wedding venue? I haven’t had a chance to see it,” she said, deliberately bleski view and signaling to

“Wow, that’s perfect, but four hundred guests? I don’t even know
Rebecca muttered, unsure.
I would invite,”
“Well, I was about to tell you this, um, one of the wedding organizer staff suggested we invite fellow influencers or models or anyone in your contacts,” Angela said cautiously.
“What? For what? None of them have any real personal connection with me,” Rebecca replied, disliking the idea and not bothering to hide it.
Angela nodded. “You’re right. Um, actually, it was Sean’s idea.”
Rebecca glared, “Sean? Why?”
“Becky dear, Sean wants to give the impression that you’ve moved on and left everything related to the Specter family behind,” Angela said, trying to reassure Rebecca.
“Do you think so? Well, I don’t know. After what Cathy said about me, I’m not sure any famous person wants to deal with me now. I mean, even the public might hate me,” she said, gently stroking Lily’s cheek.
“Are you sure you’re going to let that fire burn your entire career instead of trying to put it out?” Sean interrupted, suddenly appearing and dropping himself onto the sofa across from Rebecca.
“What are you trying to say?” Rebecca asked, confused.
“About your friend or ex–friend, Cathy. Do you know where she is now?” Sean asked

Rebecca shook her head, “I last saw her at the airport when we first arrived here. She might have moved to a safer place,” she answered, half–dreaming.
Sean opened his phone, scrolled, and searched for something. Shortly after, he showed Rebecca his phone screen.
“I accidentally found this, sent by one of your fans,” he said quickly.
Rebecca frowned, feeling all her joints ache and her chest hurt when she saw Cathy and her family sunbathing at an expensive resort in Hawaii. She didn’t look pressured at all as if she enjoyed trading comfort for her friend.
“I can’t speak ill of Cathy, at least she was a good friend to me,” she said sadly.

Sean shrugged. “Well, if you say so, Have you seen the wedding ring?” he asked, trying to change the topic after seeing the sadness and disappointment on Rebecca’s face.
“Not yet, show me, please!” Rebecca forced a smile, turning her gaze to the kitchen island where Sean had placed all the shopping bags.
“Here, take a look,” Sean said, placing a ring box on the table in front of Rebecca, then leaned down to take Lily from her arms.
Silently, Angela smiled with teary eyes. She never thought that after three years of hiding in the clinic, her only son could finally live his life properly again.
Rebecca reached for the ring box and slowly opened it. Her eyes sparkled when she saw a beautiful ring with a sizable diamond on it.
“Sean, you didn’t have to buy me a diamond. I mean, this wedding-” Rebecca swallowed hard, momentarily forgetting that Angela was there. “I mean, this wedding is not my first time. I don’t think I deserve it,” she said, feeling relieved she found the right words.
“Oh dear, what are you talking about? You have no idea how precious you are! You deserve more than this diamond ring. Don’t ever say that again,” Angela interjected. sincerely.
Rebecca looked up at Angela, her eyes suddenly glassy. “Thanks, Angela,” she said with a choked voice.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang loudly. Sean frowned and checked the surveillance camera from his phone. “Ah, it’s the girl from the boutique yesterday. What was her name. again?”
“Cassic! Yeah, that’s her name. I’ll let her in,” Rebecca said, standing up and walking to the door.
“Hi, Cassie!” Rebecca greeted her like she was greeting an old friend. Cassie swallowed. hard and smiled nervously, making Rebecca frown in confusion.
“Cassic, what’s with that face? And where’s my dress? Is it still in the car?” Rebecca asked, curious because Cassie wasn’t holding anything.
“Um, Ma’am, can we talk?” Cassie asked nervously.
“Of course, let’s get in,” Rebecca said, stepping back and letting Cassie into the condo.

“Okay, Cassie, what happened?” Rebecca asked impatiently. Behind her, Sean and Angela were also listening to their conversation.
Cassie burst into tears, “I’m sorry, Becky, Alicia took the dress. Well, it wasn’t literally her, but she did it through my manager. I’m sure she gave my manager some money. I really couldn’t do anything. I’m so sorry,” she rambled, wiping her tears with her palm.
“It’s okay, Cassie, it’s not your fault,” Rebecca said, clenching her fists. She knew what Alicia was planning-
