Black Sun Academy: Vampire Hunter Book 3 -
Chapter 11
CHAPTER 11
Suddenly a sensation like that of fear floods Dominic’s body. Something is wrong, he thought as he frantically looks around, gripping at his chest at the same time, as though his heart were being torn out it. “Where’s Ali?” He shouts out to everyone as they all stand in the Hopkins’ living room.
Voices rise all at once causing a growl to slip past Nic’s lips. Taking a deep breath, he repeats his question, “does anyone know where Ali is at this moment?” No one seemed to be able to give an answer as he begins to pace back and forth across the Hopkins’ tan carpet. Nic could feel through his soul connection to Alina that she was worried and starting to stress out over something, which only caused panic to rise within him.
Ella came rushing from one of the rooms upstairs having just been told by a fellow patron that Dominic was beginning to freak out. “Nic, what’s wrong? Rif and Ali went on patrol about twenty minutes ago. Why, what’s going on?”
Nic’s heart began to pound in his chest, slamming against his rib cage making it hard to breathe. Throwing on his jacket, he goes to the front door with every intention of running out and searching for her when Rifqa barges through the double doors, looking disheveled and frantic. Her eyes land on Ella and she says with wide eyes, breathlessly; “they took her! They took Alina!”
Rage descends upon Dominic’s mind and body, causing tremors to course through him, leaving him visibly shaking as he charges towards the front door once more. It takes Riley, Chris, Devon, and Vince to keep him from storming out of the house to go after her. Vince and Riley had just barely managed to grab a hold of his arms as Devon placed his hands against his shoulders trying to stop him from moving forward and Chris walked up behind Nic and placed his hands on either side of Dominic’s temples, releasing waves of soothing calmness over his being as they slowly pushed and pulled against Nic until he was forced to sit in the closest chair to them.

I feel like I am going to lose it! All that keeps running through my head is, NOT AGAIN!Dominic thought as he pressed his hands to the sides of his head, ruffling his hair as he does so, causing strands of dark locks to fall into his eyes. Clenching his jaw and squeezing his eyes shut tight, he can hear Ali screaming in his mind. Honestly, I think that is the only thing keeping me from going completely insane, he thought; because if I can hear her screaming, then I know she is alive!
“Dominic!” Ella shouts out, trying to get his attention. “Did you hear what I said?” Nic shakes his head, both to focus and because he did not hear her. “We are more than sure we know where they took her. James and Natalie want to see you. They’ve got a plan, but you need to get your head back into the game, dude.”
He nods his head. I can do this. She is okay and we will get her back!Or at least that is what he kept trying to tell himself.

“Hello my dear Alina.” I heard the voice before I saw the face that went with it. Not that I needed to see the face, I would recognize my mother’s voice anywhere, and the fact that her voice always managed to send chills through my body.
Sighing dramatically I respond in a tone that I hope rivaled her icy voice from my youth. “Hello MOTHER. What is going on here? Why have I been kidnapped? Hmm? I wish I could say that I’m surprised to see that you are a part of whatever is happening, but…” I do not get to finish my sentence before she is interrupting me.
“Patients my child. All will be revealed in due time.” Beth smiles at me and I can’t help but think that finally, she’s showing her true colors. That wickedly evil smile upon her lips would terrify any normal person, but as I grew up with her cold-hearted ways, the look she gave was lack-luster at best.
“Whatever.” I shrug my shoulders. I will never let her see fear in my eyes ever again. “You’re no mother of mine! And when I am free you and all these creatures will be destroyed, mother.” I spit back at her.
“We shall see, daughter. We shall see.” And with that claim, she turned on her heels, leaving me to sit on the half-frozen cement ground, my butt becoming numb as the cold seeps in through my jeans.

It has been less than 24 hours since the demon bastard took Alina from me and I feel like I’m going to explode from the rage boiling inside my blood, Dominic thought as he looked around the bedroom that he had shared with Ali. His one and only attempt at trying to sleep was a complete and utter failure. He could not get his mind to shut down leaving him to stare up at the white, swirled ceiling.
With a heavy sigh, he threw the blanket from off his body and gets out of the bed. He knew there was no way he would be sleeping anytime soon. Making his way down to the kitchen, he set about making a pot of coffee. Once it was brewed, Nic poured himself a cup and then made his way over to the kitchen table where he promptly flopped into one of the chairs. Sipping his coffee (black, no extras like sugar and cream), he stared into the void of blackness that was becoming his mind.
“Dominic, Dom, NICI!” Devon shook Nic’s shoulder, trying to bring him back to the present. Tilting his head slightly, he arched an eyebrow wanting to know what Nic was thinking about. “Hey, you alright?”
Dominic shook his head which had him automatically running a hand through his hair to push it back off his face. It took a moment to focus and to realize that Devon was standing right in front of him. “Hey Dev, what’s up? How long you been standing there?”
“Wow dude, really? What’s going on in that head of yours? I’ve been trying to get your attention for the last five minutes bro.”
“Oh, uh, huh. Sorry, I’m just a little out of it I guess.” He looked around the kitchen for a moment before his gaze landed on the window and he saw that the sun had risen beyond it, casting light across the tops of the trees which caused shadows to fall upon the ground. “Damn, what time is it?”
Devon looked to the clock on the microwave; “it’s nearly 8:30. I’m surprised there aren’t more people up and milling about.”
“Yeah, as soon as everyone is up, I want to start to figure out our next move.”
