Book 1 of Alpha Wolf: Mate Mine
Chapter 66 ~ The Black Alpha, The Killing Machine & The Cunning Fox

~ The Cunning Fox ~

“Rolando!” Marica screamed, her hands covered a shocked mouth.

Air stopped coming and going through her lungs when she saw her mate. Or, rather, the conditions in which he was.

The Gamma was by the bathroom door, about to enter, covered in blood from head to toe and fully naked in all his Greek God glory. His fingers, slightly curled and with a hint of claws, dripped with red liquid. The lower part of his sculpted face was stained red, up to his nose. His chest was covered in mud mixed with other things while his hair, always tangled in that sexy way, fell on his frowning forehead.

Marica barely heard him curse under his breath, as she was too panicked.

Rolando’s plan was to get into the shower and wash out the death out of his body before she saw him. The girl usually stayed in bed late, preferring night school, or went to train with the girls. Apparently, that was not his lucky day. In twelve years together she had never seen him in those conditions.

“Don’t worry, baby. I’m fine.” He whispered, not coming one step closer to her. The wolf would never allow the disgusting blood of the useless guards to contaminate the flawless skin of his mate...

Mate who has never seen his dark side. The secret side of the Black Devil’s Gamma. And he intended to leave things as they were.

She will never know he bit off the guards’ heads, leaving them in front of the pack house. Not that he was sorry to take off the heads of those who had failed their future Luna. Because he did not mind at all. He had enjoyed every single scream and prayer. The last thing they saw before falling into the world of nothing was Rolando’s smirking face, covered in their own blood.

“What happened Rolly!?”

The Gamma growled, closing his eyes as he spotted those beautiful eyes well up with tears.

He knew it would happen.

And he hated himself for being the cause of that waste of tears.

Marica had been the best thing that had ever happened to him in that life of dubious morality. His goal was to make her happy and constantly spoil her. He wanted to give her everything and more.

And tears weren’t part of the master plan.

“Rogue’s attack” The lie came out smoothly, as he avoided his eyes. “I’m fine honey. This blood doesn’t belong to me.”

After one deep inhalation, he took a step closer.

“Why don’t you wait for me downstairs so I get changed and we can go have breakfast at Sweet Ribbon?” He proposed hopeful, feeling the knot in his chest loosen a little when a little glint of excitement appeared in her wet eyes.

Sweet Ribbon was her favorite breakfast spot. Everything was pink, from the saucers to the cupcakes and to the uniforms of the shop assistants. Even the toilet paper was freaking pink! But Rolando did not care. The sight was always comical: the big bad wolf sitting in the soft chairs with his excited mate, eating cupcakes and drinking chai-tea.

All Rolando could think or wanted was to press his fingers against her delicate cheek and watched the typical blush appear. But he could not stain her.

“Ok!! I’m going to change”, the thrilled squeal that came out of her little body made him smile genuinely for the first time that day. It was not a malicious smile.

He glanced at her cute fluffy piajama and sighted. His bloodshot eyes never left his mate jumping excitedly around their room.

With a little chuckle, he shook his head and went to take a shower. All his demons accompanied him.

Luckily for him, Moon Goddess had blessed them all with the magic of mates.

~ The Black Alpha & The Killing Machine ~

Thousands of rogues swarmed that area, awaiting the return of Alpha Ciro. The same Ciro who was gradually being devoured by the Underworld.

At that moment, many of those forgotten wolves were watching the two intruders. Two beasts, one red and one black. Some studied them with challenging eyes, others with a madness that had completely enveloped their human side, a few with fear, and still others with neutrality that bordered on boredom.

Contrary to what was rumoured, these beasts, the black and the red, were nothing like the monsters of fairy tales. No. Because they were what the monsters themselves feared.

A certain portion of rogues around the rocky hill had fled, sniffing the approach of the monsters of the monsters.

The black beast was called Craken. He knew no fear and he enjoyed it that way. Being at the top of the food chain was his piece of mind, his distorted version of tranquillity.

The red beast, on the other hand, belonged to Crucifero and had no name. Killing was his goal. All he knew. It was such a sweet pleasure to be savoured, although most of the time the red beast was so voracious that it simply killed too soon, creating a mess of limbs and fur.

Stormy sky-like eyes followed Cornelia’s every step as she approached them descending the rocky hill in her human form. Wearing only her skin, her voluptuous forms were on full display.

Craken’s gaze lingered on her nakedness and was pleasantly focused on scratches and bites that crossed her body. Some deeper, others already a memory, all made by his mate.

He could imagine his mate’s perfect claws ripping through Cornelia’s flesh until they reached her bones, squeezing her neck and dominating the inferior wolf.

Although Cornelia was approaching them to welcome Craken and the red wolf that was once her Beta, she kept a safe distance and stopped several meters (feet) away.

“Oh Mirko! You came for me! ”

The girl was smiling and spreading her arms as if to welcome her Alpha, but her eyes hid something dark and a familiar smell, which did not belong there, to that place, invaded the air along with the dreadful scent of decay.

“My dear! If you kill your mate, you will see that I AM your second chance mate” Cornelia pleaded. “You know very well that I have already killed my mates! My very first and my second chance weak excuse of a mate. And from the moment I did, I felt this much greater attraction and connection towards you.” She said frantically as if she really believed it with all her cells.

“You know I am as right as I am sure!”

But Craken wasn’t paying any attention to her crazed words. No. His eyes were focused on the severed head, which she was holding by the hair.

Recognition flooded the Alpha who winced, curling his lips over her fangs.

‘What have you done?’

Elena and her pack won’t be happy with that particular death. About that particular severed head. And what would have upset Elena, would have upset Mirko.

“I could feel faint sparks every time we touched, and you know I’m not lying! I swear on my love for you!” Meanwhile she continued her pathetic speech, swinging the severed head as she spoke, blood dripping all over her.

Frerea had never been Cornelia’s mate. She had been in love with, or rather obsessed with, Cornelia since they were little girls. She had killed her own mate the same way Cornelia had killed her own. In reality, Cornelia had turned down two of her mates. The first, fated mate and the second chance mate.

Riccardo, from Crystal Wolf’s pack.

Whose head hung from her hands. The hands of his mate who instead of love, gave him death.

Frerea had lived a life of heart pain the same way Cornelia had. Both will have an even more tragic end. Both will always want a mate that was never meant for them.

Both had grown increasingly insane over time due to the loss and rejection of their true mates. But they were the only masters of their fate and had chosen the wrong path, steeped in jealousy and pain. Landing in the madness land.

‘You’ll never die, Cornelia.’ Mirko snarled through the mind link, taking a step forward.

’Ciro will, eventually. After a few more years, for what he did to Marco. But you, you will rot in the Underworld ‘until your last breath.’

Instead of crouching in fear, a sudden malicious smile appeared on her features.

“That’s the wrong answer, my dear Alpha.” she chanted stepping aside. “I was the dam between you and the tsunami. But you made your choice.”

And, like a swarm of crazed ants, hundreds of wolves descended the hill, some going in wrong or nonsense directions, while others appeared from behind the trees.

In barks and grunts, the stronger rogues communicated, spreading wide, sending some to circle around the two superior beasts, cutting off any means of escape. Their numbers were multiplying by the second. Despite Cornelia had full confidence on Mirko’s power, she couldn’t help but worry for him.

“Frerea! Make sure no wolf ambushes Mirko!” She ordered, leaving no room for discussion.

Some rogues silently slipped out of the confusion and headed for the woods. Maybe to escape, maybe to watch and eat the soon-death flesh like vultures.

“Don’t kill the black wolf you stupid carrion! Only the red one!” Cornelia screamed over turmoil as a large wolf, Frerea, dragged her away to safety.

As several feral rogues took a step forward, Crucifero’s wolf flanked his Alpha. The two werebeasts looked at each other for a moment and smirked.

There was something so right about them being there, in the midst of the wildness, as if nature itself craved their presence as much as they enjoyed the kill.

And then, a wave of rogues charged at the two creatures, mistaken for two simple werewolves Alpha and Beta, believing they could take them down.

‘Try to make me bleed if you can.’

In an instant, the two werebeasts fell apart, grinding and tearing. And the party started. Crimson spread conspicuously over the otherwise dry grass of the undergrowth.

Their blood-lust was legendary, and in that crowd of rogues they killed with little mercy like a fox in a chicken coop.

Several heads fell to the ground with their eyes wide open along with their wolf mouths. Mouths that will never kill or bite again.

With swift, precise moves, Mirko was killing three wolves at a time, while the red wolf had become something else. A killing machine. Mechanically tearing life like a lawn mower. It didn’t matter to him how much blood gushed from the wounds on his body caused by more and more rogues.

Claws sank incessantly, whoever dared to get in their way. Cornelia’s shocked eyes watched one wolf after another fall, piling up and creating a mountain of dead bodies.

Fur torn from the flesh.

Broken limbs scattered all around.

Hot red blood still flowing out of severed necks, hairy legs amputated, spilling every inch onto the ground...which was the arena of that infernal show.
