Chapter 131

After saying this, Naomi's stomach twisted in agony. But she refused to let it show in front of Brendan.

A woman's moment of weakness would only work on a man who loved her. She didn't need to embarrass

herself further.

"You're quite honest, Naomi." Brendan choked her.

Naomi was turning white. Yet she still stubbornly declared, "Now that Maximus is back, I've had enough of you."

Unable to contain himself, Brendan leaned forward and bit Naomi's lip. "Do you think I'll let you? Dream

on, Naomi."

Brendan's bite drew blood. It hurt like hell, but Naomi's disappointment with him made it seem trivial. Whenever he was in a foul mood, he always found a reason to quarrel with her and took it out on her in the end.

Seeing Naomi's pale face and trembling body, Brendan finally released her with a sigh.

"Naomi, you know how possessive I am. Even when I grow tired of something, I still won't give it up no

matter what."

Naomi rubbed her face gently. She recalled when Brendan had a dog as a kid. The dog ran off, and he went to great lengths to replace it just to end up teaching the dog a lesson.

She never saw the dog again, but the trees in the backyard bloomed more beautifully each year.

Naomi's scalp tingled at the memory.

Back then, she only saw Brendan's kindness and overlooked his cruelty.

The room fell silent, and Naomi's stomach continued to spasm. She sat quietly on the edge of the bed for

a while. When her discomfort eased, she noticed Brendan smoking by the window and headed to the

bathroom with her clothes.

As the hot water streamed down her face, Naomi's heart grew colder, and she became more level- headed. Brendan's words didn't scare her. They simply made her realize she had overestimated their relationship.

However, she wasn't a fucking pushover.

Half an hour later, when Naomi finally emerged from the bathroom, Brendan was gone. Naomi dried her hair with the towel, feeling relieved.

She was so disappointed with Brendan that she didn't have the energy to argue with him any longer. She didn't even want to talk to him. She just wanted him gone.

The sudden spasm jolted Naomi, She swiftly put down the towel and grabbed a stockpot, preparing to

make some instant soup.

The soup was done in a matter of minutes. As Naomi drank the soup, she thought of the grievances she had gone through the past two years. She couldn't help but sneer at herself. Brendan brought up Sophia tonight and even toasted her while Naomi was still there. Naomi finally understood her place in his heart. His marriage with her was only to please his family. However, Brendan must be a fool to think Naomi would just let him walk all over her.

After finishing the soup, Naomi quickly shoved the thoughts to the back of her mind. She grabbed the recorder, intending to go through all the information she gathered today and sort them into files.

Maybe it was the fight she had with Brendan or due to her stomachache, but Naomi felt exhausted after going through a few recordings. The ache didn't help either, and she decided to call it a day in the end. Act Fast: Free Bonus Time is Running Out!
