Bound by the CEO’s Baby By Sun Scar Chapter 96
Chapter 96
Damien’s business meetings ran long and throughout the week. Still, he made time to call Ana first thing when he was off work. She was equally busy and Alan had a lot to say about his days at school.
One fine day, he just couldn’t get through to Ana and twisted and turned with anxiety throughout the meeting. He sent her numerous texts and stared at his phone as his business associate eyed him worriedly.
Ana had mentioned that she would meet Marcus one of those days, but Damien wasn’t sure if it was that day. Still, when her phone didn’t go through and switched off, Damien felt irritated.
Finally, he kept his cell phone aside and grudgingly paid attention to work.
When he checked his phone again, he had several messages and voice messages from Ana.
[Sorry, my phone died. Charging in the car. Hope you had a good day. Love you. Call me when you are free.]
Damien breathed a sigh of relief. He should have known it would be something like that. But it was the other texts that worried lum.
[Damien, you need to call home immediately.] It was from his dad.
There was one from an unknown number that simply read: [Found you.]
He shook his head, thinking it was just a wrong number, and moved on to the voice messages from Ana.
‘Damien, please call me. The day was so crazy…”
Damien felt awful for bombarding her with messages. But it was the last voice message that explained the panic in her voice.
‘Baby, someone broke into the house. Please call me.”
Damien’s shaky fingers scrambled on the screen until he got the right number. He didn’t even wait for Ana to talk when he heard the line connect. “Ana? Baby, I am so sorry.”
“Damien?”
“Are you okay? Is Alan okay? What happened?”
“Hold on.” He heard shuffling and then she was back on the phone. “Where have you been all this time?”
Even in Ana’s sleep–addled state, she was really pissed.
“My meeting ran really late and I had it on silent. Please don’t reply to my insane messages. I really didn’t do it on purpose.”
Ana sighed. “I am too exhausted for this conversation. I have to talk to the police in the morning and try to salvage what is left of our bedroom.”
“Anastasia, are you okay?”
“Yes. We are fine. I slept at my place tonight. I had to deal with someone breaking into the apartment and clean. up as best as I could.”
“Were you and Alan there while it happened?”
“Fortunately, no. While we were out. Some of Alan’s things were taken and our room was destroyed.”
the mess
Damien shook his head in disbelief. “Wait, they took Alan’s things? Like that? Does he have anything really valuable? Did they take anything else?”
“I don’t know yet. I am supposed to go through things and see what is missing in the morning.
“The television and stereo? The closet?”
“Nothing was touched except for Alan and our rooms.”
“That is weird. You called the cops?”
“Your dad did. He was at the house when I discovered it. I didn’t notice until it was time to put Alan to bed…”
Damien paused. “How did you not notice that someone broke into the house?” he questioned.
“Because it wasn’t obvious until I saw the bedroom. Why are you being such a jerk?”
Because I am thousands of miles away and can’t do anything to make this better. Fuck it, I am coming home.” “Damien, don’t. We’re fine. You have a lot of things to complete. And I am thinking of letting my meetings run really late
too.”
“Are you trying to anger me? Because it is working. And I can reschedule my meetings,” he snapped. He had no right to be angry but she was coming at him with claws drawn as well. He just had to protect himself from her lashing out.

“Why?” her voice cracked. Instantly, his anger faded.
“Because I actually want to make sure you both are safe. You and Alan are everything to me, and if something happened to you, I wouldn’t survive. Do the cops have any idea who it might have been?”
“I do,” Ana replied confidently.
“Who?”
“When I walked into my office today, an envelope was waiting for me on my desk.”
Damien felt his heart sink. He want to puke out what he had eaten that day because he knew what was in the envelope. She didn’t need to tell him.
“Are you going to ask?”
“No.” Damien replied.
“I haven’t told anyone yet. Not even your dad.”
“He knows already and so does my lawyer.”
“And you are still okay?”
Damien chuckled. “Yes. The lawyer did a background check on her but I don’t know what he found yet.”
“That is what you were talking to the lawyer about that day?”
Damien hummed. “I went to my dad after work on the day I didn’t pick you up. I figured my father could give me advice and he told me to contact my lawyer immediately. I know I am a grown man but sometimes I need my father too.”
“I didn’t think you could ask for help. But I am glad you did.”
“I told them everything. The lawyer said there wasn’t much he could do as there really wasn’t any proof. But if she was the one who broke in, it should be enough evidence to put her in jail. At least we can get a warrant to search her apartment.”
Ana cursed under her breath.
“What?”
“Do you think she was the one who trashed your car?”
Damien thought about the possibility for a second. “Didn’t the eyewitness say a guy did it?”
Ana corrected him quickly. “No, a guy was poking around and acting suspicious. The eyewitness didn’t see who really did it.”
There was no way Damien could finish up his business with the things happening back at home. If it was Carmen and not a random attack, then the woman had gone to a level of crazy Damien wasn’t comfortable with. It was the kind of crazy that even bodyguards and money couldn’t handle.
