Chapter 102: Seek Solace in Drink

Half an hour later, a file recording where Ko Chen has been is sent to Tan Lin. She stares at the pictures on the file and holds it even tighter. Her fingers turn pale and the file wrinkles. She looks at the woman in yellow in the picture with her extremely cold eyes and ridicules: "Yu Fei, right? Ko Chen lied to me for you. Let me see who is more important for him, me or you?" Upon saying these, Tan Lin tears up the file ferociously and throws the shreds into the dust bin. The night of the city witnesses the scenes of debauchery and luxury. Ko Chen hangs up Tan Lin's phone and then leaves Yu Fei's house. He calls Duan Tsingfeng and says: "Hey bro, have a drink with me." The latter is up to his neck in seeing a patient. He sniggers when he checks out what time Ko Chen calls. He answers: "It's not even past 8 PM. Why are you in such a mood today?" Ko Chen is impatient with Feng's teasing and gives him the order: "See you in half an hour at the usual place." And then he hangs up without waiting for Duan's answer. Duan Tsingfeng smiles crossly after hearing the busy signal.

Half an hour later, Duan Tsingfeng shows up on time at the"usual place" Ko Chen mentioned. It is called Battery Bar. Knowing the way, he walks in and is warmly received by the waiter. The latter says: "Hello, Mr. Duan. Mr. Ko is waiting for you on the second floor." Duan follows him upstairs. He sees Ko Chen swilling a bottle of wine when entering the booth. As Ko Chen drinks, his Adam's apple moves up and down, which makes him very charismatic. There are many empty bottles on the coffee table. Duan feels headache and covers his forehead with one hand. He sighs heavily and then walks to Ko Chen to take his bottle. He cries: "Are you out of your mind? Don't you remember what I told you before?" Ko Chen doesn't lose his temper when his wine is taken away. He just takes a look at Duan and says softly: "You are here."

And then he takes another bottle without waiting for the answer. Duan Tsingfeng doesn't know what he is up to. He tries to keep the wine off and says: "You wanna die?" Upon hearing this, Ko Chen freezes. His fingers move a bit and he stops. He leans back slowly, raises his head, covers his eyes and makes a deep sigh. Seeing this, Duan knows something must have happened because Ko Chen is always calm and rational and he seldom reveals his emotions like today. It's not his style to show people the soft part of his heart. Knowing that Ko Chen worries about something, Duan sits down beside him and doesn't speak. He is waiting for Ko Chen to tell him the reason, though the latter probably won't. Times passes and Duan waits patiently. Finally, Ko Chen speaks but not mentions the reason. He takes a bottle of wine again and speaks one simple word: "Drink." Ko Chen means it, so Duan doesn't stop him. He knows him better than anyone else. Ko Chen won't be like this if he has not been depressed for a long time. He takes the wine Ko Chen hands to him and pours it into two glasses, half full. "Drinking is not like you did just now. Swilling a bottle of wine is not a good way of drinking. You can't taste the flavor in that way. It's no better than drinking a bottle of plain water."

Duan gives Ko Chen one glass and keeps the other. He stares at Ko Chen directly and catches a trace of solitude which quickly fades away. He easily tells that it's probably because of Yu Fei. Shaking his head, Duan takes a sip and suggests: "Ko Chen, really, she won't leave you even if you tell her you have that disease. Why you have to torture yourself and her.""That she won't leave me makes me unwilling to tell her the truth." Ko Chen takes a swig and says firmly. Duan has no idea how to convince him. He has done that a couple of times since Ko Chen was diagnosed. But the latter always refuses firmly.

"I'm not hardhearted enough to let her see me die and live a lonely life." Ko Chen puts the glasses on the table with a rush. His eyes are red. Now he is not that CEO but just a mediocre ordinary man. Though Duan is a genius in the field of medicine, he is not better than Ko Chen in terms of relationship. He doesn't know how to comfort him, so he just drinks with him. He says: "Forget it. You wanna drink. I'm in." The two take one glass after another. After finishing two bottles of wine, they are still sober.

Ko Chen bends over on the table and focuses his eyes on the wine. After a while, he says sadly: "Tsingfeng, tell me the truth, can I be healed?" Duan puts down the glass and speaks seriously and sonorously: "Yes!" But Ko Chen doesn't believe his words. Looking at the wine in his hand with his eyes drifting, he recalls his memories of childhood. His father was always not at home because of work. But every time he came back, he played with him. However, he didn't know since when his father never came back home. He asked every family member and relative, but no one told him what happened. When he grew up, he knew that his father died of disease from the old news.

Now he has the same disease as his father's. Ko Chen once thought he was not afraid of death. But as soon as he met Yu Fei, he knew that it's not like that. He didn't know his weakness before, but now he knows that Yu Fei is his weakness. Today Ko Chen gets drunk and he rarely does before. Duan Tsing Fong sends him back to Ko's Abby. Uncle Zhang receives them and takes Ko Chen back to his room with Duan. Yu Yu sees everything in the dark behind a column. She doesn't even blink when peeking. She wears a brand new customized sleeping gown. Originally, she just wanted to drink some water in the kitchen but when she sees that Ko Chen is sent back drunk, she has an idea.

Doctor Ding comes here to check Yu Yu every day for a few days. Yu Yu has already recovered and she tells Uncle Zhang that she doesn't need a doctor anymore. But Uncle Zhang refuses her, casually saying that he has to make sure she doesn't have sequela. Ever since the night she badgered Ko Chen, she never sees him again. It seems that he is hiding himself from her. Yu Yu rolls her eyeballs and makes a sardonic grin. "I will come for you if you hide yourself from me." She says to herself. She takes the hem of her gown and tiptoes upstairs. After she makes sure Duan and Uncle Zhang get downstairs and walk away, she makes her way noiselessly to the door of Ko Chen's bedroom.
