Captive Of The Alpha -
Chapter 14
Hades put the document down on the table, running his hand over it, uselessly brushing back the wavy strands of hair that fell over his face. He pinched the bridge of his nose and Leoxi, sitting in front of him, looked at him worriedly.
-Why don’t you go and rest, you look exhausted,” he said.
The alpha shook his head and resumed reading.
-There are too many things I have to do to sleep right now,” he said.
-Two or three hours won’t make a difference.
-I’ll do it later when I go to see her, after I give her b***d I can sleep for a couple of hours.
-Being a workaholic will kill you one day.
-If it hasn’t so far I doubt it will in the future.
-Whatever you say, in the end it’s a hopeless case to argue with you,” Leoxi took a sip of his drink, “Well, do you like it?
-Who?
-Who is it going to be? Your new acquisition.
Hades lowered the document in front of his face, he hated it when his twin came up with abstract comments.
-And Leoxi hated how slow his counterpart could be with some things.
-The woman you have in a bed right now, in one of our rooms, do you like her?
-Don’t you think that’s too early a question to ask, I don’t even know her name?
-At least you can have an idea, in the end you wanted her to be the change because of your intervention.
-Why do you think we don’t have a queen by now, I said I’ll never be with someone who isn’t useful for the job. I don’t need a queen who spends all day in front of the mirror, wasting her time just thinking that it’s better to look pretty or desirable for me than to help me with all the pack’s worries.
-You’re too radical.
-This is not a puppy story,” she remembered when their mother read them one of their favourite fantasy books when they were young. Where there was the mystical Moon Goddess who gave each wolf a half that completed their soul. Life would be wonderful if fantasy were real, but they were wilder and reality was much crueler. Although it had its positive side if you looked at it with an open mind, you were able to be with whoever you wanted without anyone controlling your future and Hades hated anyone pulling the strings of his life, that’s what he was for.
-So what are you going to do with her and her cubs?
-I’ll look into that when I’ve sorted out everything I have pending and her health is better. My image and that of the pack would be tarnished if I simply kicked her out of the manor after I made a trade.
Leoxi was about to answer him when the door opened and a man with light hair and hazel eyes came through, carrying several documents in his hands.
-Good time, Siran, for more papers,” his alpha said wryly.
-Excuse me, these are some that we found in the other pack’s mansion, and I think you will replace them interesting.
The interest aroused in the two men and they took them up and read them avidly.
Hades was fascinated when he came to one with a huge family tree accompanied by a dossier that apparently had the life of each of the members.
The name of the family was Sans and it started from the first generation with the word omega standing out in most of the members. Of the approximate 80 people, more than three quarters were omegas who stood out in the central descendants while those who did not, only showed their name, but not their relationship with other members of the family.
He continued with his gaze too interested for his liking when he reached the end where a part of the paper was torn leaving only one name on the right. A name he recognised. It had not been a coincidence. That was the family tree of the pack’s alpha before the woman in his custody. But the rest of the generational family was gone, had been uprooted. That seemed strange to him, neither were his documents.
-Alpha, I also come to inform you that the new members have been placed in the residence that was uninhabited, we have prepared the minimum conditions, but we will need a few days to prepare the different houses with what is necessary.
-Do you have food and water?
-Yes, although there are some of our wolves who are not happy with the situation, everything has been very fast.
-Don’t worry beta, I’ll take care of that later.
-We had to lock up some of the males. Let’s say they are out of control and don’t come to their senses, they look wilder than usual and three of them are not able to come back from their animal aspect. The herd is in a very bad state, there are females waiting for cubs without care, little ones without families and much more.
-Ask for the necessary help, say it’s my order, and report to me anyone who won’t cooperate, it’s not their fault that their alpha has been irresponsible.
Siran bowed before leaving.
-This is worse than I imagined, I’ll go see mother to see if she has any of the concoctions she makes that will raise a dead man,” Leoxi got up and left as well.
The typical excuse he used to visit his parents who had gone to live on the edge of the pack, oblivious to any trouble. He wished he had enough free time to visit them too, he missed the talks with his father and his mother’s seasoning.
Hades opened the door to the room where the new omega was resting, letting out a young she-wolf who bowed her head.
-Alpha-
-Have you taken care of her yet. Sara?
-Yes, I changed the bandages and cleaned her body, and I put a new cloth over her eyes as the doctor indicated.
-Thank you, you may go.” He dismissed his beta’s current wife and took off his shirt before sitting on the bed.
The woman looked better after two days of consuming his b***d. Her skin colour was returning and some wounds were closing more easily, but the scars would remain there as a reminder of what had happened. He g*****d inwardly. No one should have to go through that.
Carefully he slipped an arm under the nape of her neck and drew her in, biting his wrist and bringing it to her lips letting the carmine liquid enter her. It was becoming a habit now, one he didn’t dislike.
After what seemed like a long time she opened her eyes again. Her body wasn’t fighting against itself this time, it hurt, but it was bearable. She pulled what felt like a piece of cloth over her eyes and tried to sit up slowly to feel the other side of the warm bed but her vision was so blurred she could barely make out the colour of the sheet.
He heard a rustling in the distance accompanied by a faint smell that he could now define, which made his hair stand on end. ALPHA. There was an alpha, she didn’t know if it was near or far, with her senses so worn out, despite feeling stronger, it was impossible to tell. But one thing she was sure of, an alpha was there and he would surely hurt her, and she couldn’t allow that again.
Everything turned red around her and she let her conscience burn away giving way to the wildest part of her inner self and did what her father taught her to do best.
Hades was just finishing talking to Siran at the door about the final preparations when his alarms went off.
He only had time for one thing.
To turn around before he felt the dark wolf’s fangs dig into the skin of his neck until they ripped it apart.
