Hades could not believe it

He had thrown himself in. Without thinking. Without knowing where he was.

He returned so quickly to his human form that it even hurt. He ran to the edge of the balcony, looking down and watching the she-wolf fall from the first floor to the first, onto the carpet that should have cushioned her fall. He was grateful for the first time that his mansion only had two floors or he might have been killed if he had been on a higher one.

In any case, the fall had been brutal.

He didn’t know what had hurt more, the shock of seeing her fall or the total rejection of him. It wasn’t that he was a womaniser, nor did he look for adventures here and there, but the few who had been in his arms had accompanied him to his bed afterwards.

He saw her get up slowly as if nothing had happened and run in any direction to get out of the place, something he would not achieve. Firstly, because of the security of the mansion, and secondly, she couldn’t see her way out. It was already a miracle that she had been able to escape from the room, even in her wild state she was very intelligent, she couldn’t imagine in all her senses.

He turned to his beta and ordered her to be surrounded, but not to be harmed. And following her lead, he launched himself over the edge of the balcony landing on his two legs effortlessly and walking slowly towards the animal.

The she-wolf had no idea where she was, it didn’t seem to be her pack’s mansion, she could make out practically nothing. The faint smells were diverse, without being able to recognise any of them, and that of her children had vanished. She was terrified, upset, she wanted to go out, to run, to be free, to be reunited with her family, but all that vanished when she felt the scent of the alpha who tried to subdue her, closer and closer.

And not only his, but several wolves surrounded her. She could not guess how many. She could barely perceive how far away they were. Her body tensed, making the wounds and bones she knew had been injured hurt more than her animal instincts could suppress. He backed up a step, two. He tucked his tail between his paws, ruffled the fur on his back and growled. She felt in danger, and at least she would have to fight even if her strength deserted her.

-Don’t attack her,” the alpha commanded as he saw her reaction and the response of the eight wolves around her.

She looked even smaller in that circle around her of adults more than a head taller than her and yet she was still able to defy what threatened her. How much must she have suffered to act like that? Definitely, he would personally kill Rudoc, with his own hands. A female should show her full splendour, not hide behind her snarls.

Hades took a few steps towards her and felt her rage even more. The red in his eyes refused to budge, and in that condition he could not bring her to her senses.

Becoming a wolf wasn’t an option either, it would only make things worse. By now, after two days without drinking her b***d she should be, if better, not recovered. But the figure before him, despite the wounds, surely broken bones from the fall and lack of food only hinted that her b***d had had more effect on her than they had anticipated. Regenerating beyond belief.

-Alpha,” one of the men behind him called alerting him.

The atmosphere was tense and he was sure she would be killed if not for his order. A wolf out of control could tear apart even a puppy without remorse, so they had to be put in captivity to seek improvement, and if this did not come in a short period of time, the Council destined their end. Losing control was not a frequent occurrence, but there were always situations that could bring a wolf to the brink of sanity.

Hades suddenly turned his face as he heard footsteps running in his direction and it didn’t stop him. Maybe this was the light at the end of the tunnel. The she-wolf didn’t know how long she stood there, surrounded by hostility, when she felt a sweet smell approaching. Her body relaxed completely and she lowered her ears, raising her muzzle in an attempt to sniff more intensely.

Nicolas walked past the alpha without looking at him and brushed aside a wolf that was blocking his path. His attention was focused on the animal that seemed frightened and yet still waiting for him. He crept closer.

The she-wolf managed to pick up where the scent was coming from and approached as well. It was one of them. One of her cubs. It was there for her. He had come to replace her and this time there were no chains or locks to be imposed between them. The red mist dispersed immediately, her consciousness was returning to her allowing her to feel happy for the reunion and forgetting her surroundings.

Fingers brushed the tip of her nose gingerly and she licked them indulgently allowing him to touch her more. The hand moved to her neck and gently cupped it, giving way to arms that drew her to a sobbing breast.

She couldn’t be happier.

She was no longer alone.

There would be no more darkness.

Now she could rest in peace.

She closed her eyes and let her body fall limp against her son’s thighs.
