Captive Of The Alpha -
Chapter 34
The frantic laughter of the she-wolf annoyingly invaded the dining room. Everyone’s attention was focused on the two females facing each other. More than one had risen from their seats to intervene. Despite having new members and adapting, they had specific orders from Hades not to attack any of them. There was always someone who played dumb and ignored the alpha’s word. That one, of course, ended up being punished. And this would not be an option.
First, that she-wolf was threatening and insulting a defenseless puppy, a fatal mistake, second, she was messing with the one who had been the queen of the grey pack and the alpha’s new protégé. Like Sara, messing with her or her children meant offending Hades himself.
But she overlooked all that. Her orbs had turned golden. In the midst of the transformation and forgetting all warning, she launched herself at Nebraska, arms flailing.
Siran walked quickly to intercept her but his presence was not needed, Nebraska had made her specialty, moving faster than average. Before everyone could react the queen had the she-wolf by the back of her neck on the ground and was holding her still with one knee on her back.
-Quiet,” she whispered, slurring her words and narrowing her eyes. A sweet smell enveloped the she-wolf and she gradually calmed down under everyone’s gaze until she lay on the ground, barely moving in her human form.
Layan couldn’t help but rise from his seat. He was very intuitive and even if many didn’t understand what had just happened, he did. He gritted his teeth in a crooked smile planning his future moves.
Nebraska stood up from his near opponent and took two steps back. The woman stood up from the floor and sat there looking sideways as if she was in a haze until she came back into focus and smiled foolishly.
Someone approached her and helped her to her feet, covering her.
-What did you do to her?” the wolf questioned, concerned, not so much about her condition but about what had just happened.
-Watch your tone,” Hades’ voice burst out, raising the b***d of everyone present. His serious and not at all pleased with what he was witnessing was more than evident.
He walked among the wolves who parted in his wake and bowed their heads in respect. He stopped at Nebraska’s side and with one arm wrapped around her waist possessively and brought his lips to her neck leaving a fleeting but distinct k**s. The omega didn’t move, merely bowed her head to give him access. The scent of him told her not to reply.
-She,” he relaxed his frown, “will soon be the queen of the silver pack.
A collective gasp. Murmurs followed. Hades waited for everyone to get the message until he raised his hand for total silence.
-So anyone who dares to offend her or anyone close to her will be in serious trouble,” he smiled, but one of those smiles that chills your soul, “And by the way, take her to where you know, I don’t like indiscipline,” his tone had changed for the moment.
The wolf nodded and dragged the woman out of the dining room. Nebraska felt herself being pulled by Hades’ arm.
-Besides, you look beautiful today, I can see why that she-wolf jumped on you, I could do the same.
Nebraska pursed her lips at the high pitched words coming from the alpha.
-Everyone keep eating, it would be a shame to waste the feast,” the alpha had shifted his attention and the others took heed.
He led her to the table, leaving him in the chair, and he sat down in his seat.
-Ma, is what he says true,” Nicolas whispered to her.
She nodded her head.
-I’ll give you the details later,” Hades answered before gobbling down the first piece of meat, “Secrets at the table is rude.
Nicholas straightened up in his seat and assumed a good posture. If his mother joined the silver pack as their queen, it meant that she would be bonded to Hades, making him her new “father”. Talking back to him, knowing his character and even more so now that he seemed upset, was not a good idea.
Hades growled as he felt the door rattle and smelled the scent behind it.
-Layan,” he said as the wolf entered and sat comfortably on the velvet couch that accompanied the office furniture.
-You have an interesting specimen for a fiancée.
The alpha’s body tensed and glared at him.
-Don’t go near her.
-Do you think me capable of anything, alpha? But you have to admit there are details you left out in our second meeting. It was convenient that she wasn’t marked by Rufoc, that her marriage was annulled and that he was sentenced to perish at the next full moon. But the part about her being able to bend wolves, you didn’t mention that-
-Nebraska is an omega so she has different powers than us, that’s no secret.
-You left out that she was so strong.
-I didn’t think it was convenient. She’s mine now and I decide what needs to be known about her and what not- I had to be careful what I talked to Layan about and not go into detail about what her abilities consisted of.
He was a dangerous alpha and used to getting everything he wanted.
-To his surprise he just patted his thigh and stood up with a relaxed smile, “It was a good talk. I’ll stay for about three days until Rudoc’s execution to make sure everything goes well. I expect your best hospitality,” he turned and left Hades clenching his fists until his bones creaked.
Siran entered shortly after to replace him in the same spot.
-Trouble with the alpha Layan again?
-And more than you can imagine. Order Leoxi to keep an eye on Nebraska and her cubs, I don’t want any surprises.
-As you command alpha, but there is someone who wishes to speak with you.
A small brown head with two large violet eyes appeared behind the beta.
Hades leaned towards her and stroked the crown of her head with a half smile, relaxing the muscles in his face.
-Do you want something, Catalina?
-Alpha, I want to ask you something,” she rubbed her fingers together nervously, “Don’t marry my mother.
