Captive Of The Alpha -
Chapter 9
Hades rose to his full height returning to his human image. He looked at the five wolves before him and nodded for their leader to copy his action. Nicholas hesitated a bit and transformed more slowly, remaining kneeling on the ground with his head down. Looking a non pack alpha in the eyes was considered a fatal offense and Hades could tear his throat out at the thought of it.
-Are the conditions set?
-Yes alpha, all those who could be evacuated are hidden in a safe place, the former beta of the queen and current commander, awaits orders to start the revolt.
-The growls of the other wolves of the silver pack were heard in the air and the muscles of Nicolas’ back tensed, sweating slightly.
-I never intended to be alpha, I just want my pack to be as normal as any other, for there not to be so much misery and suffering, for the queen to take power again and for times to be as I was told, as they were when she led. I am not so deluded to think that a simple wolf like me can take such a great responsibility-.
Hades was silent for a few seconds. He didn’t know how these boys had been believed but of one thing he was sure. He wouldn’t mind having them by his side.
-I’ve heard from your brothers what you’re like, I just wanted to see if it was true that you were as correct as they said you were,” he said.
Nicholas let out a sigh of relief.
Hades, the benevolent one, that’s what they called him in other herds, that was the reason why they had placed their trust in him.
-My brothers?
-They are fine, I left them with someone I trust, they are waiting in my mansion.
-Thank you alpha Hades, I don’t know how to repay your gratitude.
-Don’t worry, your brothers are aware of what I want in return,” he turned his back.
Nicolas raised his head in concern, perhaps it would be.
-If I defeat your father, his pack will pass into my hands, as well as his queen,” he said.
The younger wolf frowned, but did not reply. The look in the wolf’s eyes said it all, he had to trust him, he had to trust him. He prayed that history would not repeat itself.
B***d was flowing. Multiple howls, growls, screams of pain, bites was what flooded the night under a red cloud. The silver herd was gaining ground having infiltrated by surprise. They had met resistance which they had quelled with equal intensity. Most of the wolves only answered to alpha Rudoc because they had no choice, no matter how cruel their leader was, he was their leader unless someone challenged him.
Hades advanced down the hallway with b***d that was not his own sliding down the fur on his back and muzzle. The battle to enter the mansion had been intense, but the victims were only limited to being severely wounded. He had given explicit orders not to eliminate anyone, a slaughter without reason was illogical and he had his methods for dealing with those who would not redeem themselves.
Nicholas followed close behind in a condition similar to his own plus a wound on his right paw that caused him to limp.
The older wolf sensed the scent of another alpha nearby. The bastard had confined himself to the royal hall with other guards. And that was the most important figure in the pack? Ironic laugh, in his 600+ years and in all the disputes he had been involved in, he had given his paw forward as the main defender of his pack. He would surely give that canine eyesore a lesson in ethics.
He stood before the door of the royal hall with the son of his enemy at his back and three more wolves, his beta and his closest guards who had refused to leave his side, as dictated by the b***d pact they had sworn to him.
The hair on his back stood on end as the door shattered and two wolves rushed at him. His two guards reacted quickly and stopped their attack by grabbing them both by the throat in mid-air and holding them awkwardly on the ground. Three more canines appeared before Hades and this time it was he who attacked knocking him out of the way and knocking them unconscious. They could do little against an animal that outnumbered them in size, girth and strength by several numbers.
He felt Nicolas’ growl at his back.
Rudoc was standing in front of the alpha by a few feet. Three wolves were defending him without moving from their place while another smaller wolf with brown fur stood at bay, tail between his paws at the alpha’s side.
Hades became alert and bared his teeth showing them in all their glory. The gleam in his eyes shone so brightly that all three of his enemy’s guards lowered their ears and g*****d turning away. The alpha of the silver pack was annoyed and knew the feeling he exerted on the others, he was not at the top of the pyramid for the sake of it, despite the many rumors of his goodwill.
He advanced towards Rudoc who bristled every hair on his body in an attempt to appear larger and more menacing. The thick chain holding a rusty key was lost in the fur and was not unnoticed. His alpha scent was not as potent as Hades’ and his height, barely reached his muzzle but he still lunged in attack, no one would steal his throne.
Both wolves became entangled in a war of bites and scratches that left the others present at bay.
Only the strongest would emerge unscathed from that fight.
And many knew the outcome
