Captured By A Ruthless Vampire King
|18|~Ending Connections~

Unedited.

Embry POV.

I’ve emerged from the shadows of the creepy alleyway only to enter into a bloody concrete jungle. The scene before me is so unreal it glues me into place. There are dead bodies of humans, wolves, and vampires scattered all around this street. The air smells like death. The streets are painted with crimson.

As I emerge into the valley of death I fear evil.

I’m not going to lie or pretend to be braver than I am. I’m scared.

Scared out of my mind, but if there is any chance that I can save lives tonight I will save them. There is no way that I’m going to run to safety and hide like a coward when my people are in danger. That’s never going to happen. I’ll never turn my back on any of them.

If one fight we all fight, even if that means we shall all die. I just wish there was another way.

All I want is for all of us to live to see another day. So many lives have already been claimed on this bloody night and for what. I try my hardest to break eye contact and to stop studying the faces of the fallen but no matter how hard I try... I can’t.

There are just so many. This is such a tragedy. My heart is hurting.

Physically hurting! I can’t stop thinking about the families of the falling from all species who lays lifeless around me. My heart is bleeding. How many children are waiting for their fathers or mothers to return home at this very moment?

How many parents will be hurting when they realize that they have to bury their own child? Too many have lost their mate or beloved?

Way too many humans have lost their only friend in this devil blossomed world? It’s unfair and not right. I hate this. My nerves are wrecked.

And the fact that I can’t shake the feeling that this is only the beginning is making my anxiety worse. I just know that things are going to go downhill from here. I can feel it in my very bones.

My heart is hurting even more just thinking about how serious the threat against Kaya life truly is. It’s killing me knowing that. At this moment my Aunt Elena and my little cousin Jenkins are facing losing their most valued treasure. I rather die than live with the fact that my family would have to live without her because I failed to protect her.

If something happens to her I would never be able to forgive myself. Ever! If she falls I’m going to fall with her. It’s not a choice. She’s like a sister to me. No, she is my sister.

She may not be a Wilde by birth but’s she a Wilde by bond. Blood can’t make us any closer. She is a part of our family and that is just that on that.

I must replace Kaya and get her out of the city now. It’s my duty to protect her and place her life before my own. I will not allow my family to suffer another loss. I won’t.

That thought alone gives me all the courage that I need. I start to run. My feet barely touch the ground as I run down the city street filled with lifeless bodies. The crisp winter air smacks my face and the wind blows many scents into my nostrils. My people's scent becomes stronger and stronger. My wolf is howling and barking at me to run faster.

It doesn’t take me long to locate the building that’s currently hosting the battlefield. The sound of screaming, growling, and bullets flying can be heard a mile away. If that’s not enough the fleeing humans and the toy soldiers and Northern Pack warriors having a full-fledged war in front of the building confirm that I have found the right place.

I take shelter behind one of the many black SUV’S and search for any familiar faces. So, far I haven’t found any. I can only hope and pray that no one discovers me before I have time to form a plan.

My heart starts to beat faster as I watch the bloody battle before me. I didn’t expect to replace anyone to be fighting outside of the building and it takes every ounce of my self-control not to allow my wolf to take over and join the fight.

We need to replace a way inside first. My eyes scan over the extraordinary architecture. It’s really the tallest building I’ve ever encountered. In fact, the top of the building nearly touches the sky. I can’t help but to wonder which floor leads to Cyrus Penthouse.

There is no way this entire building belongs to him. Is it?

Matter of fact, that doesn’t matter. Right now, I need to focus on getting in. I must replace Kaya before I intervene with the fight.

The only question is how? My eyes scan over the grand arch entrance. There are well-manicured flowers, bushes, and even trees up and down the circle driveway that are now all covered in blood. The driveway is filled with equal amounts of werewolves and vampires.

I know for a fact that once one of my kind lays eyes on me they will chant and place all the attention onto me. So, going through the front door is not an option.

I would go through one of the many planted windows. I’ve always been good at climbing. The only problem is that I can see the flashing red lights on each floor. Plus, I can hear the alarm roaring over top of the fight and that’s only half of it.

From down here, I can see all the movement and commotion that’s happening inside of the building on each floor. There are humans pleading for their lives as they run throughout the building. There’re many wolves clashing with vampires and dodging bullets.

I will not be able to scout before I enter and there is no way to tell who I may bump into while climbing through. So going through the windows may not be the best option either.

Maybe, I should see if there is a back entrance. I’m sure there is. This building is way too big for the front entrance to be the only way in and out. Based upon, the other building’s that I have passed they all lead to an alleyway that looks just like the one that I saw the humans in.

That’s it! The human are all running away from danger and now that I’m paying attention to each and every one of them are running in the same direction. It appears that they are coming from the side of the building, which means no one is standing there to stop them from escaping.

That’s the safest way to get in without detection and that’s the way I need to go. Hopefully! Making up my mind, I sprint in the direction that the humans are running out of as fast as I can.

Just like humans, I run behind the shadows of the tree. The only difference is I’m running towards danger, and they are running away from it.

So far, so good! No one seems to have noticed me. Even the humans that I’ve passed haven’t spared me a single glance, despite the fact that I’m running faster than a human could manage. The door that they are coming out of comes into view, forcing me to pick up speed. I’m almost there, seconds away when somebody catches me by my arm.

“Embry, wait!” whispers a familiar voice, gripping my arm tightly.

“Marko Polo!” I gasp, as my head snaps in his direction. He nearly pulls my arm out of my socket as he forcibly shoves me behind a tall bush.

“Let, me go,” I tell him.

“No, you’re not going in there! It’s dangerous! Why did you come here?”

Why does he even care? “Let me go now,” My wolf growls. “Before, I end you.”

“No,” he growls back stubbornly, with red eyes. “I let you go for a reason.“You’re going to ruin everything! It’s dangerous in there. Don’t you see that? Everyone inside of the building is about to die.”

Not on my watch. I manage to break free from his grip and race back towards the building door.

Suddenly a forceful explosion of Kaya emotions flood through our family bond hitting me hard and fast nearly knocking me down onto my knees. I can feel it all. I can literally feel her heart thundering like lightning bolts inside of my very own chest. The threat to her life is real.

Very, very real! I’m running out of time. My wolf completely takes over at the same moment that Marko Polo throws me back down onto the ground. This time, she throws our sharp claws into his back and then uses all of our strength to push him off us, which sends him flying into the air.

In a flash, we are back to our feet and running through the building. I can feel the very moment, The Northern Pack awareness of my presence and this alone makes them fight harder. They know that I’m here. As expected the wolves in human forms start to chant and the wolves in animal form howls in unison.

My presence alone gives them hope that we have a chance to win and also gives my wolf a boost of confidence. Almost instantly, my wolf detects Kaya’s faint scent.

She follows it through the hallway filled with fighting soldiers wolves and vampire’s alike, down a flight of stairs also filled with an equal amount of fighting soldiers, and into a room that hosts many more fighting vampires and wolves. At this moment we don’t fear running into a fight.

My feet never pause no matter how many times I pass lifeless bodies littering the bloody marble floor. No matter how many times vicious growls of attackers reach my ears.

I continue to follow Kaya’s scent, which leads me down another flight of stairs.

It’s very strong at this level. That’s the only thing that brings me to a complete halt.

My eyes scan the room filled with violence and countless deaths. Out of nowhere, another forceful explosion of Kaya emotions flood through our family bond once again hitting me hard and fast but this time it does knocks me down onto my knees. I can feel her soul blowing through my body like a gust of wind like we are one. I can’t pinpoint exactly where she is but I can feel her presence and love through our bonded hearts connection.

The feeling is so soft, sweet, and so beautiful just like Kaya. It feels like her body is hugging my body without Kaya's tiny arms actually wrapping around my slender frame.

I can literally feel the bond that we share buzzing like a bumblebee throughout my entire body, exploring the ties of our souls, displaying all the love that she feels for me, and then out of nowhere, she’s gone. I can literally feel our soul tie being snatched away from my soul. Ripped and Detached. Gone.

“Noooooooooo!!!” I scream to the top of my lungs and throw my hands over my now aching chest. She is gone. I can’t feel her. I can’t feel her. No, no, no... I can’t feel her.

Our connection has been ended. Smashed! Closed off! Shut! Done......

Kaya is dead.

The link to my entire family bond is wide open. Each one of my family members shattered souls is spreading throughout my body like an inferno of never-ending pain.

The Pain, The Fear, The End, The Fury, and The Sorrow... Everything. I can feel every single emotion, tangling with my very own shattered soul.

And then comes the feeling of emptiness. I’m all alone, barely able to breathe. I can’t even stand on my own. I’m gasping for air, shaking and crying... I feel like I’m dying. My wolf howls of intense pain rings loudly and wildly inside of my head.

Then suddenly, my chest is ablaze and I can feel every sane thought inside of my head starting to slip away. Like a ship sinking beneath the intense and unforgivable waves of a vengeful sea.

Towering rage entirely takes over my body as my wolf shoves my human side to the back of my mind. Golden blood bleeds into my vision completely as my neck snap’s back up to view the fight before me.

I search for one thing and one thing only......Kaya’s attacker and I take a deep whiff of the air searching for the scent of her blood. Instantly, I come in contact with a red-eye monster standing in the middle of the room.

He’s staring directly at me, watching me closely. Waiting for me and directly beside his feet lies Kaya's lifeless body. Her blood drips down his face. The shinning life force that she once possessed haunts his tainted soul. He killed her. She’s gone because of this vile creature.

He killed her and now I’ll kill him. An eye for an eye... A life for a life. His blood belongs to me.

For the first time, I agree with my wolf. I accept her path of vengeance and we damn sure well destroy anyone who gets in our way. Vengence belongs to us. He’s mine.

He’s dead. His blood is ours to take. I will kill him or die trying if it’s the last thing I do.

I charge.........
