Nina respected their decision completely. It was their life, and they should be the ones to decide. As his sister, the best she could do was be there to comfort them during hard times. After a few more words, Nina shared the news about Pharaoh with Micah. "Dad was just diagnosed with late-stage liver cancer."

Micah froze. "How could that happen?" he murmured, stunned. When Pharaoh left the country, he had been in good health, and now, in such a short time, it was late-stage cancer.

Nina wished it weren't true either, but the official report from a top-tier hospital left no room for doubt. "Dad initially wanted to skip treatment and just take some medication, but I managed to convince him otherwise," she said, hoping Micah would come see their father.

After all, they were father and son by blood. Even though Pharaoh would not say it outright, Nina was certain he missed his son deeply. Still, given Micah's current situation, she hesitated to ask him to come back.

Micah then spoke up, "Can you take care of him for now? I'll wrap up my tasks here as quickly as possible and get over there."

"Take your time," Nina assured him. "His condition is stable, and the doctors said that with regular treatment, he should have decent results."

After the call, Micah spent half an hour finalizing his work and then headed straight to the hospital. When he arrived, he found Freya standing by the window, watching children playing below. She was silently crying. "When will I be able to enjoy family moments like everyone else?" she whispered.

"Freya, I'm here," Micah said as he entered, holding a bag of her favorite fruit.

He set it on the table and took out two clean containers. He then carefully washed and sliced the fruit, placing it neatly inside.

Hearing his voice, Freya turned and

joined him, glancing at the fruit but without much appetite. "You already have so much on your plate. Now that you finally have a little time, let's just sit and talk for a bit. You don't have to fuss over this."

She felt a heavy sadness, and seeing him juggle his work and still make time for her only made it harder. Micah, too, was feeling the weight of it all. Between official duties, daily responsibilities, and replaceing time to be with her, he was stretched thin.

"It's just slicing some fruit," he said with a smile, handing her a fork. "Come on, let's eat a little together." With him by her side, Freya's mood lifted, and she ate a few pieces of mango.

"I'm planning to finish up my work over the next couple of days so I can go back home to see my father," Micah said, broaching the subject. "He's diagnosed with late-stage liver cancer, and even with treatment, his time might be limited."

Freya understood; they both did. With late-stage cancer, even the best treatments could only do so much. As his children, it was their duty to be there.

"But you have so much work, and we'd need several days there," she said, a hint of worry in her voice. "What about everything waiting for you here?"

Micah gently brushed a stray strand

of hair from her forehead. "We're in a

can keep me connected. Most of rush lately has been due to the recent disaster relief efforts. Once things settle down, it won't be quite as intense. I'll still be busy just not nonstop."
