The test results were clear that Jamie's son, Charlie, had no biological connection to Ben. He studied the report over and over, feeling his resentment grow.

This was precisely what he had anticipated, and it only steeled his resolve that he had no reason to hold back with her now.

Finishing his morning work with time to spare, Ben decided to head to the hospital. He thought a little humiliation might serve Jamie well.

At the hospital, Jamie's attempts to explain were falling on deaf ears. The woman was convinced Jamie was lying, especially after catching Ryan's lingering glances at her.

The woman's anger boiled over. "In the old days, women like you would have been run out of town for this kind of shameless behavior!"

"You're the one with the problem here!" Jamie's sister, Winnie, shot back. "My sister has told you a thousand times they're just friends. He keeps that old photo of her, not the other way around. What does that have to do with her?"

Winnie couldn't stand it anymore. She had just been impressed with Ryan, but now her opinion of him had flipped entirely. He already had a girlfriend and yet he was still hanging around her sister, causing all this trouble.

The woman turned her icy glare on Winnie, eyeing her up and down. "Oh, don't you start. You two seem like two peas in a pod. Maybe you're also in the business of stealing other people's men."

That was the last straw for Winnie. She was furious. She and Jack were an official couple and they even had an engagement party. And here this woman was, throwing around accusations. "Say that again, and I'll make sure you regret it!" Winnie said, rolling up her sleeves.

The woman's temper flared, ready to retaliate, but Jamie quickly stepped in to hold her sister back. "Winnie, calm down. Don't let her provoke you."

Jamie was especially worried,

knowing Winnie was in the early stages of her pregnancy. A fight could end terribly if things got out of hand. Though they could take legal action later, nothing could undo the damage if anything happened to her.

At the mention of the baby, Winnie took a deep breath and started to calm down, her sense slowly returning.

Ryan tried to lead the woman away. "Enough. Let's go home before you embarrass yourself even more."

"Yeah, I've definitely embarrassed you," the woman snapped. "I should just stay home like a fool, turning a blind eye while you do whatever you want outside."

She angrily shoved him away, then looked at Jamie with fury sparking in her eyes. She raised her purse, clearly intending to strike Jamie with it.

The bag was loaded with heavy items including a phone, a full makeup kit. If it landed on Jamie's head, it could easily cause a concussion.

Just in the nick of time, Ben

appeared, grabbing the woman's wrist in a firm hold. His eyes were cold and sharp, cutting through her like a blade. "What do you think you're doing?"

His presence was commanding, making her lose her nerve in an instant. Her bravado from moments earlier faded. "I-I was teaching a homewrecker a lesson. She's trying to steal my husband, so I have every right to hit her."

"Shall I explain the criminal charges for assault to you?" Ben replied, a cold smirk tugging at his lips. "I happen to be a lawyer."

The woman's defiance crumbled, and she went silent, not daring to escalate further.
