CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery -
Chapter 698
Chapter 698
Sawyer laughed upon hearing Nash's words and said, "You seem surprisingly normal. I guess you got the antidote from Seth? Wait, that's impossible. Seth couldn't have developed a real antidote."
His eyes narrowed as he scrutinized Nash, puzzled. "Haven't you noticed any physical changes?"
Bang!
Nash slammed his hands onto the table, creating a loud noise, and glared at Sawyer with cold, sharp eyes. "Say something useful!" Sawyer, noticing Nash's bloodshot eyes, smirked. "You didn't get the antidote."
The veins on Nash's arms bulged, and his joints cracked as he clenched his fists in frustration.
Recognizing the tension, Sawyer decided to cooperate. "Pharaoh never shows his true face. Neither Seth nor I have seen it. Those who have probably aren't alive anymore. As for Seth and I turning against each other... that's not really accurate. It was all about our own interests. He wanted a piece of my pie, so I threatened him. When we couldn't come to an agreement, I ended up as a prisoner here."
He spoke nonchalantly.
"Threatened?" Nash stood up, his eyes icy, "What do you know?"
Sawyer tried to stall, smirking as he reached for a glass of water beside him.
Just as he lifted it to his lips, Nash's eyes narrowed with suspicion. He grabbed Sawyer's hand. "Don't move!"
Sawyer looked up at him and said, "This prison is full of your people. The chances of me getting killed here are slim. I've already checked..."
Before he could finish, he felt his throat tighten, his eyes widening in shock as he stared at the glass. The water inside was clear and tasteless but it was enough to make him feel unwell.
"Did you drink it?" Nash noticed the change in his complexion.
Sawyer coughed up a mouthful of blood, his face contorting in pain.
He had not expected this outcome. He had anticipated attempts on his life after being imprisoned and had checked everything meticulously, including the water.
How could it be poisoned?
Nash, realizing the urgency, shouted, "Get a doctor in here, now!"
Sawyer continued to cough up blood, collapsing into his chair. With his last bit of strength, he grabbed Nash's hand and shakily scribbled something in his palm before exhaling his final breath.
"Doctor's here! Doctor's here!" The warden rushed in with medical staff, looking panicked.
But it was too late. Sawyer was dead.
Nash clenched his fists, turning to the warden with fury. "Didn't you say no suspicious people had contact with him?"
The warden stammered, "I-I don't know... There shouldn't have been anyone..."
"Then how was he poisoned?" Nash roared, grabbing the warden by the collar. "This is supposed to be a secure underground prison!"
The warden, drenched in sweat, pleaded, "I'm sorry, Captain York. I didn't expect this to happen!"
"Captain, we caught the suspect who poisoned the glass of water!" A guard announced, dragging in a handcuffed prison guard and forcing him to kneel.
The warden looked at the guard, shocked. "How could it be you?"
The prison guard raised his head. "I'm sorry, warden. He had to die."
The warden, looking betrayed, could only stammer, "You...!"
He was too furious to speak.
This prison guard had been one of his trusted men, working alongside him for six or seven years.
He had placed great trust in him, never suspecting he was an undercover agent.
