Embarrassed, he withdrew his hand and said, “I'm sorryfor making your friend misunderstand. I didn't mean anything. If it were other female friends ofmine, I would probably do the same.” Cherie fixed a sharp gaze on him. She knew that this fellowwas up to no good!

Maisie smiled and replied, “That's very kind of you, Mr. Jones.”
