CHASE -
19
I jumped up to the sound of something shattering. I wiped the sleep out of my eyes and lifted my legs over the bed, blindly getting up and heading out of my room, grabbing my phone on the way out. Another sound of something breaking and I knew instantly that someone was in my apartment. Dialling '999' I was ready to press enter whenever I felt like I was in danger but right now, I wanted to see for myself that someone was in here with me.
Silently tiptoeing down the hall, I tried to see if I could spot anyone in the living room but I couldn't see a soul. Where were the sounds coming from then? My heart second away from bursting and my legs having a mind of their own, I walked into the living room and towards the shattered vase on the floor. I slapped my hand over my mouth, preventing myself from any deafening scream as I scanned the red liquid that was smeared across the floor, blood. It had to be. Leaning down, I followed the trail of blood and my vocal cords came to life as my scream invaded the silence. I was face to face with dead mice, not one, not two but three dead mice. I was going to throw up.
'Scared?' A familiar voice greeted me all the while a large hand wrapped around my mouth and another wrapped around my torso. I knew who the hands and the voice belonged to, everything just started to make sense. 'How about we take a seat over here.' He pulled me backwards, sitting me down on the sofa then crouching down in front of me. A sinister smile plastered on his all too familiar features as he stared me down.
'Why.' I felt stupid. Did he even need a reason? I had spent my entire time blaming Chase when in reality, it's been Luke all along. My heart throbbed for Chase. Once again, he was blamed for something that he didn't do. He was accused of something that he had nothing to do with. God I was stupid.
'Because I care for you Bella. I warned you, I did.' He stood up and paced the room. While his back was turned to me I tried to hit enter on my phone to call the cops but he turned around way too quick. I hid the phone in my sleeve and watched him, my heart rate way too high for comfort.
'I told you not to visit him again and what do you do? You visit him again.' I remembered seeing him in the parking lot yesterday, I felt sick to my stomach. He was the one that drove into me, he was the one that left the note in the hospital, he was behind this all of this time and I had sat and blamed Chase for it.
'You tried to kill me..' I looked at his pacing form, waiting for the right time to call the cops. To my awful luck, he turned and walked back over to me. Stroking my face with his rough hand. 'But I didn't.' He brought his face closer, sniffing me. I was pretty much about to have a stroke. 'Oh Bella, Bella, bella. Why would you pick him over me?' He shook his head as if he was telling off a toddler.
'I went to see him yesterday to tell him that I wasn't going to visit anymore.' His eyes shot up at me, clearly happy with my decision. 'But I was stupid. Blaming him for your actions. I really didn't think it through did I?' His brows furrowed and he grabbed a chunk of my hair, pulling me closer to him.
'You never think before you speak, do you?' He let go of my hair and pushed me back into the sofa. My heart was racing in my chest, I didn't know what to do as I watched him get angrier by the minute.
'What am I going to do with you?' He ran his fingers through his hair, he seemed awfully fidgety. I wondered to myself if he even was normal, maybe he should take Chases place at Whitley.
'Now I have to kill you.' I froze at his words. My heart completely gone out of my chest. I swallowed hard and looked away, trying to think of a way to buy myself some time. Pulling my phone out for a split second I managed to hit dial. I hoped that they'd hear this and track my call.
'Please don't kill me!' I had to make him say things that would get the cops attention. He turned around and walked over to me, grabbing my face and pulling me back into him. 'I have to Bella, you chose him over me!' He bellowed in my face, my heart was racing. I hoped that the police was listening to this. Digging his fingers into my face, he pressed his lips against mine. I tried to pry him off me with one hand, pushing against his chest.
'Get off me!' I yelled as he let go, a smirk curving up the corner of his mouth. 'Maybe I'll fuck you before I kill you, or, I can always fuck you after I kill you too.' I felt bile rising to my mouth. I wanted to throw up everything I'd ate before sleep. He was crazy. He surely had to be crazy. Why did I always come across fucked up people? I didn't have time to think about it, I knew that my time was limited, I had to come up with a solution, maybe distract him for a while or to try and challenge him. I couldn't take him on that's for sure, he was much bigger than me and twice as powerful but I had to do something, anything.
'I thought you might like me like this. Isn't that how you like your men? Psychotic?' He laughed, a very horrible laugh that made my insides turn. 'You need help.' I mumbled, not sure if I wanted to piss him off or to calm him down.
'Then help me. Just like you help him.' He growled the last part, his mood dropping from zero to a hundred within the space of five seconds. I tried my hardest not to give into the fear I was feeling, instead, I asked him questions to distract him from his main purpose; to kill me.
I bought myself about twenty minutes, going back and forth with him which ended up with him attacking me, I dug my nails into his arms, trying to rip him off me as I suffocated under his hold around my throat. I was going in and out of consciousness when the door broke down and a group of men ran towards us. Flash lights and guns aimed at us. Well, at him. Relief washed over me as he let go of me.
'Police! Get on the floor!' One of the men yelled as they gathered around him, pushing him to the ground, one of them came and pulled me away from him, asking me questions like if I was ok. I couldn't answer him though, all I could see was Luke's eyes looking into mine as they cuffed him up. I felt like everything was happening too fast, I didn't know if I was dreaming or this really was my reality. I faced the man questioning me, barely hearing his voice as I zoned in and out of it. I think I was panicking.
'You ok ma'am?' I finally heard the man's voice, everything coming back together now. I looked over to Luke that was getting taken out of the room with his eyes on me then I looked back over to the cop stood before me. 'Yes, thank you.' I reached for my neck again. I was thankful that I was alive. Yet again, I'd dodged a bullet. I think I was getting good at this.
