Chasing My Ex-wife Back by Symplyayisha Chapter 37
Chapter 37
“What?!” Connie’s voice came through.
“And you too.” Eric turned his attention to his wife. “Stay away from Cole and his family”
“What do you mean by that? Is this you choosing Hailey over Vanessa?”
“Why do you always think so negatively? I disowned one daughter already. You want me to lose the other one to the cold hands of death?”
“No one is dying. You are the one making harsh judgments. Cole is just overreacting. I am sure he is going to come around and ask for our forgiveness.”
“And until then, I forbid you both from going to him or his family.”
“No, that can’t be possible. If we let him be, he is going to choose Hailey over our daughter and we can’t see that happen.”
“Cole is wise enough to know who he wants to be with. If he keeps pushing Vanessa away, then I think we should get the message by now.”
“I knew it, you bastard! You want him for your daughter. She called you also to report the scene to you. Didn’t she? That is why you are here, saying nasty things.
“What the hell are you saying? Because I keep supporting you both, I disowned Hailey. She never wants anything to do with me again. And here you are spewing out nonsense just because I am trying to protect Vanessa. Can you for once in your life, forget about greed and focus on your daughter’s future for once?”
“You call putting so much effort into this man my baby is going to marry greed?”
“What efforts did you ever make to ensure that she ends up with the love of her life? It’s just me, doing everything and you doing nothing.”
“Enough please!” Vanessa commanded where she was seated.
“As I said, have some dignity and stay away from Cole. Even if your mother is giving you silly pieces of advice, you are grown enough to know what is right! Why take stupid actions that would warrant who you call the man you love to come into your father’s house, hit your mother on the cheek and almost kill you? Do you think that’s love? Why throw away your dignity and integrity?”
Connie rolled her eyes at her husband’s speech while Vanessa kept staring at her Dad, not knowing what to say.
“You would do as I say and stay away from Cole and Once the child is born, we will get DNA.”
“I have called Moore to tell him to warn his Son to stay away from us.”
“Why would you do that?” Connie closed the gap with her husband and started hitting him on the arm.
“Get the fuck away from me” He pushed her on the couch beside Vanessa. Then turned to face his daughter. “If you dare disobey me, I will disown you and cut you off from your inheritance!!”
“No, you wouldn’t do that!” Connie rose to her feet, challenging her husband.
Chapter 37
“Oh, you all should disobey me first and I will show what I am capable of.”
“Oh, fuck you!”
Eric ignored his wife and stormed out of the mansion.
“What are we going to do. Mom? I don’t want you and Dad fighting because of me.”
“Oh please don’t cry. Leave your Dad to me, I know what to do to deal with him.”
“I can’t stay away from Cole.” She sniffled. “I want us to be married before the baby gets born. People are going to gossip about me if I move around with a big belly and without a ring or marriage. I don’t want that life, mama.
“Oh stop overthinking. That is never going to happen.” Connie assured, taking a seat by her daughter.
“I really don’t know what is going on with these men but I can assure you
that they are definitely going crazy. Just leave your father to me. He has no right to tell you to stay away from Cole. I will talk to Moore too.”
Debbie was able to reach out to the manager of ENROL who confirmed that Hailey was not in the office. Debbie took permission from her Boss to leave work earlier than usual and in less than an hour, she found herself in Hailey Riley’s home.
Her heart fell when she saw Hailey seated on the couch in her room, wiping tears off the corner of her eyes. She was still in her work clothes.
Debbie rushed over to where her best friend was, kissed her forehead, and took a seat opposite her.
This hurts so much,” Hailey whispered, trying to hold back tears.
“What hurts? Speak your mind.”
“Everything! I mean, how am I going to explain this to the twins that they would understand?”
“I don’t know why I feel so betrayed. Maybe because I was expecting more from Cole. And the way those two bitches mocked me, I felt so embarrassed.”
“You know you are not being fair to yourself.”
“How?” Hailey asked her best friend, sniffling.
“You didn’t see Cole and here you are crying over unknown thoughts.”
“You want me to see him when he is going to lie to my face?”
“I spoke to him. He promised he is not the father of the child Vanessa is carrying.”
Hailey scoffed, “And you believe him?
“I know what you are doing, babe.”
“What?”

Chapter 37
“You are using all of these as an excuse because you want nothing to do with him. You are not ready to forgive Cole totally and let go of the past.”
“That’s not it. I just hate myself that I still feel something for him despite everything he has put me through. And I will be so honest with you, Vanessa’s confrontation with me is doing so much damage to my heart and my thoughts more than you can ever imagine.”
“At this point, it doesn’t matter if Cole is innocent or not. I don’t want to bring my kids into this mess. Just imagine what those witches are going to do when they replace out about the twins. You and I know that Vanessa has a hand in my accident. The only reason she is not in jail is because there is no direct evidence pointing to her. I can’t risk my kids‘ life.”
“I still think you are being cruel.”
“Why would you say so, Debbie? I’m the one hurt here.”
“This is you punishing Cole. In the same way you care about the twins‘ safety, I give you my word that Cole wouldn’t want anything to happen to them also. It is obvious he wants you but those two witches don’t want him to
come to you.”
“They kissed in front of the media Four years ago. Cole and I have been apart for four years. Who knows what they must have been doing behind closed doors.”
Debbie sighed, deeply. “I hate to see you like this but I really don’t know what to do to help you.”
“You seem to have a
enough to convince, Tain perspective about Cole in your head that there is nothing I can say that would be
otherwise.”
Hailey said nothing, wiping tears off the corner of her eyes.
“I will be over him. I just need some time.”
“You’ve had four years, Hailes. What if you take a different approach this time around.”
“What approach?”
“Fight for the man you love.”
“I mean what better revenge could you give those two witches than winning over them?”
“I spoke to Cole for the first time today and my heart went out to him. He sounded devastated. I know he regrets. what he did to you but you are not giving him the chance to make it up to you and on the other hand is Vanessa and her evil mother. You need to go easy on that dude, babe. In the end, he is also human, and no matter what, he still remains Ollie and Enzo’s Father. He is always going to be an important part of your life.”
“I already sent the divorce papers.” Hailey reminded.
“You think he is ever going to sign that?”
Hailey sighed, running a hand through her hair
“You are my best friend and I will always support whatever decision you make. I love you and I want what’s the best for you”

Chapter 37
“You don’t have to make up with Cole now. Just don’t deny him access to those boys. They would be crushed. Not only are you an amazing friend, you are an amazing mother. I don’t want my god babies to see you otherwise.
Debbie was about to say something else when Hailey’s phone buzzed beside her. The device was facing down the
couch.
“You are not going to answer it?”
Hailey said nothing.
Debbie sighed, reached for the phone, and flipped it, facing up.
“Asshole” was the name that flashed across the screen.
“Cole?” Debbie asked.
Hailey’s silence confirmed her thoughts. Then she passed the phone to her.
“Talk to him. Please!” Debbie said with pleading eyes.
