Jon sat and stared at the computer screen, shocked. With each word and picture that he found, his anger grew. The poor excuse of a wolf was very lucky that he was so far away from him at the moment because Jon was having a very hard time controlling the anger that was threatening to control him. Jon knew that if the wolf was within running distance, he would die very slowly. His wolf was fighting for dominance, but he just pushed him down.

Finally, once everything was complete and printed out, Jon stood and all but ran to Richard’s office. Knocking once, he stepped in and laid the folder on the desk. Richard lifted his eyes from the paper with a smile on his face, but it quickly disappeared when he saw the dark look on his friend’s face. “What’s wrong Jon?”

Jon stayed silent as he handed the folder over to Richard.

“I found him.” He managed to speak around the knot in his throat. Richard quickly picked the folder up and started reading. And just like Jon, Richard felt his anger rising with each thing he read.

“Thomas Reigns, the only son of oil tycoon and Alpha Michael Reigns. He started dating Laretta in 2017.” Richard muttered under his breath until he came to the second page. His eyes snapped up to Jon’s before going back to the paper in his hands. “She’s been admitted to the hospital almost sixteen times in the last eight months … I want him dead Jon.” Richard spoke, his voice colder than an arctic blast. Jon nodded only once.

“Contact Crowley and let him know. He will take care of all the details.”

“And what if his father replaces out that it was you that ordered his son’s death?”

“Let him replace out, I don’t care. He didn’t raise his son right, and the result of his own actions brought about his death.” The anger that was radiating off Richard filled the room. “Besides, Crowley is very good at his job. No one will know that it was anything except for an accident.”

Jon quickly left the room and Richard slowly put the report down. He felt like flying over to Alpha Reigns pack and killing the pup with his own hands.

Just as his door shut, the phone rang.

Richard quickly answered, fearing the worse. “Hello?”

“Hey Richard, I just wanted to let you know that I’m boarding the plane now. I should be at the Seattle airport about 6 this evening.”

“That’s fine Laretta. I will be there waiting for you. You didn’t tell anyone where you were going did you?”

“I didn’t. Mr. Reigns wanted to know why I was leaving, but all I told him was that there was an unexpected death in my family and I had to go. I also told him that I wasn’t sure if I would be coming back, hence my resigning. He wasn’t happy.”

“That’s good. I’ll see you at six.”

“You will. They’re boarding now so I have to go.” He hung up and let out a deep sigh. His mind turned back to the news on his desk. Alpha Thane’s daughter had been found, murdered.

Rogues had been responsible for her death, and Thane had sworn that he would not rest until the ones that had killed her paid with their lives. His heart went out to the hurting alpha, and he promised to send several of his best warriors to help replace the rogues. Jon.

Yes?

I will be leaving around six to go pick up Laretta. I want the guest room next to the mine ready for her when I get back.

It will be done. Oh, and Crowley said that he would send confirmation once Thomas Reigns was dead. And he would make it look like it was an accident, or maybe a rogue attack.

Keep me updated.

I will Richard. Richard quickly left his office and went to look for his sister. Once the funeral was over, he would move those of his siblings that were still living with their mother in with him; if they wanted to.

At five thirty, Richard found himself standing by the baggage claim at the airport. He had a sign with Laretta's name written in large print and he found that he was nervous.

Almost an hour passed before he heard the speaker announcing the arrival of her plane. His eyes were glued to the gate and he held the sign up high, not that he needed to. One by one, he watched as the passengers walked passed him. "Richard?" A soft voice grabbed his attention and he took in a deep breath.

Richard couldn't help but notice just how beautiful she was, even with the dark bruise on her cheek. The soft smell of vanilla and roses washed over him, calming his wolf. It had been far too long since he had seen her. He wanted to hug her, but he for as long as he had known her, he knew that she hated being touched. Richard knew that there had to be a story behind it, but he wasn't one pry. She would tell him in her own time, he hoped.

Once they were in his truck and headed back towards his pack house, he couldn't help but wonder why her scent could calm his wolf that fast. That was something only one's mate could do. Giving his head a good mental shake, he looked over at Laretta to replace her laughing at him. "What?" he asked with a smile.

"I just asked if you would mind if I dyed your hair hot pink, and you said to go ahead." Her laughter filled the cab of his truck, and Richard laughed along with her. "You should really pay attention, you know." He just smiled.

"I will try." Laretta rolled her eyes at his sarcastic tone, but still smiled at him. "So, how's Jon?" she asked, and a quick shot of red hot jealousy hit him. Pushing the feeling away, Richard spoke. "He's doing fine. Jon is also my smiled

"That's pretty cool. I bet he loves it."

"At times I guess he does." They fell silent until the house came into view. "Welcome to your new home."

"It's huge and absolutely beautiful Richard." Laretta's voice was filled with awe and it made his heart soar. Richard was confused at how he was behaving around her. Maybe he should call ... No, Richard stopped that thought. He would never again be able to call his mother for advice or help. He'd have to figure this one out on his own.
