Chapter 14 Luna’s High Fever

“No.” Victor parted his lips slightly. His face reverted to its usual cold demeanor as he shifted his gaze away from Keira.

“Torry… Keira’s voice was tender and alluring, igniting something in his heart. She hooked her arm around Victor’s neck, kicked off her shoes, and stepped on Victor’s leather–shoes on her dainty toes.

Victor was concerned that she would fall and reluctantly supported her waist, but his overall demeanor became even more rigid.

“Hubby?” Keira pouted, focusing on Victor with her large, crystal–like eyes. She held Victor’s face and gently swayed her body, pleading in her coquettish voice, “Please, Hubby, Pretty please..”

Victor finally gave in “Fine.”

“Hubby…” Keira furrowed her brow. Her eyes shimmered as she thought about how to alleviate Victor’s concerns. She knew that Victor was uneasy, so she was prepared to employ all means to persuade him.

However, before she could finish speaking, she suddenly realized something. Did Victor just agree so readily!

“Hubby…” Keira exclaimed in surprise. Is it that easy!

She had not expected things to go this smoothly and was astonished that Victor nodded before she even pulled out her second trick.

“Hubby, what did you say?” Keira looked up cautiously and appeared somewhat incredulous.

Victor took a deep breath and pinched his brow regretfully. Her coquettish plea had given him the urge to give her the world. For a moment, he thought she was only going out to work, and it shouldn’t be a big deal. But now.

Is it too late for me to take it back?

Sensing Victor’s thoughts, Keira grinned even more happily. She cheered and jumped up, prompting Victor to embrace her immediately out of fear that she would fall..

“Thank you, hubby. You’re the best!” Keira did not hide her joy and gave Victor a peck on the lips.

However, Victor’s back tensed suddenly. He lifted and carried her in his arms before striding toward the bedroom.

“The the master bedroom is unsuitable…the guest bedroom Keira’s voice trembled as she tried to explain to Victor that the master bedroom was being cleaned and many people were there, making it unsuitable for their amorous activities. Moreover, their belongings were all placed in the guest bedroom.

Victor tilted his face toward her and smirked with a sudden understanding. “So, you like doing it in different places.

Understanding the situation, he carried Keira to the nearest guest bedroom. Before Keira could react, she found herself pressed against the table.

“I can explainhmmVictor’s forceful kiss cut Keira’s words, bringing tears to her eyes. “I’m not done speaking. Can we talk first before..

Victor swept the documents off the table. The cold table surface sent chills down Keira’s spine, causing goosebumps all over

her skin.

“Go on,” Victor said, looking perfectly composed in his tailored suit and not a hair out of place. Other than his heavy breathing, he seemed no different from usual.

She instinctively curled her toes and held onto his arm tightly. You can assign a bodyguard to me. I promise I’ll behave and come home straight after work.” Her voice was soothing, like a gentle spring breeze.

Victor’s gaze flickered. Previously, Keira would never agree to have bodyguards, thinking they were his way of monitoring her.

Is she doing this to put me at ease?

As the last ray of sunlight disappeared below the horizon, a flash of white light crossed Keira’s mind, causing her vision to

blur. Her voice trembled as she held weakly onto Victor. “Torry, let’s be happy from now on, okay?”

Victor kissed her forehead and replied lovingly, “Okay.”

In the end, they did not have dinner. Keira lost count of how many times Victor made love to her until she passed out from exhaustion.

In the dead of the night, Keira was soundly asleep when a sense of panic ignited in her chest. She woke up abruptly and reached out to Victor’s side of the bed, only to replace him missing.

An inexplicable unease washed over her.

She pulled back the covers, put on the robe by the bedside, and tried to get up. However, a sudden dizziness hit her and nearly sent her sprawling on the carpet. Thankfully, she steadied herself using a nearby shelf and paused until she felt better.

With difficulty, she walked out, pushing the door ajar. To her surprise, the usually dimly lit hallway and lobby were bright with lights. The servants were all awake. Some were on standby in the lobby while others were hurrying about.

Keira stopped someone to inquire what had happened. Then, disregarding her discomfort, she hurried barefoot toward the end of the corridor.

The door to the medical room was open

Keira rushed in and saw Victor making a phone call at the side.

Meanwhile, Otto was still in the silk shirt he wore to nightclubs. It was evident that Victor had interrupted him clubbing and made him come over.

“What happened?” Keira’s voice trembled as she asked. The smell of disinfectant in the air made her even more uneasy.

When Victor heard her voice, he immediately ended the call and turned to her. Disapproval was written on his face when he noticed her bare feet and exposed calves. He wanted to persuade her to go back and rest but faced with Keira’s tearful and imploring gaze, he found himself at a loss for words.

“Luna has a high fever and seizure again.” Outo came over and informed Keira of the current situation.

Luna was physically weak due to premature birth. Furthermore, she had intermittent high fever of unknown cause and remained incurable, Keira’s legs went weak in despair.

“What should we do now?” Keira asked with a trembling voice. She leaned in Victor’s embrace for support and barely stabilized herself by relying on his strength.

Otto glanced at the servants doing everything they could to cool down Luna’s temperature and shook his head helplessly. “We can’t identify the cause. All we can do is physically cool her and wait for the fever to subside.”

“Luna has already taken two doses of antipyretic within six hours. If we give her another dose, her body might not be able to endure it. I’ve also contacted her psychologist, but they can’t provide a definitive answer either.

After uttering these words, Otto quickly turned around to administer acupressure therapy to Luna. Since they had exhausted conventional medical methods, they now relied on holistic medicine, targeting acupuncture points to control her body temperature as much as possible.

Victor furrowed his brow, noticing Keira’s pale complexion and her body limp and devoid of strength. He embraced and assured her. “Luna was also ill like this before, and the fever subsided within twenty–four hours. Don’t worry too much.”

Keira pressed her nails tightly into her palms until tiny droplets of blood emerged. Only then did she feel a semblance of calin. She pushed away Victor’s hand and wiped away the tears on her face. She looked at Luna’s abnormally flushed face and heard her murmuring unconsciously.

Then, Keira took a wet wipe dipped in alcohol from the servant before carefully wiping Luna’s underarms and chest. However, Luna waved her arms restlessly. Her chubby limbs were hot like miniature furnaces.

“Mommy… I want my mommy.” Luna’s voice was soft and tender, quivering slightly due to the discomfort caused by the high
