“What’s the issue? Can’t handle the price tag? Go ahead, beg me. If I’m feeling generous, maybe I won’t insist on your compensating me,” Mila scoffed and glared at Keira hotly.

Keira sniggered coldly and yanked the shawl off Mila’s shoulder.

She retrieved a lighter, set the fur coat ablaze, and tossed it forcefully to the ground.

The flames voraciously devoured the once–elegant mink in moments, reducing it to a smoldering, charcoal black.

Mila snapped back to reality when the shawl on the ground was almost incinerated. The facade of being a literary goddess crumbled, and she couldn’t uphold that image. She lashed out at Keira and roared, “Are you insane, Keira! You wretched person, burning my clothes like this!

Keira smiled and took out a check from her backpack. She quickly wrote on it and threw it on the ground.

The check landed at Yara’s feet. She lowered her head, and the amount was 380.

“Quite the bargain for your fur coat and shoes, right?” Keira approached with an intense gaze, resembling a sharpened sword fixed on Mila. “With this tidy sum, your prized possessions now belong to me.”

Mila retorted. “The fur coat is a lost cause, up in flames. Now, do the honors – kick off those shoes, and we’ll call it a day.”

Mila

had never faced such humiliation, and her delicate face was furious. “Keira, where do you replace the audacity to be so arrogant? Can’t you see that you’re standing up for her by doing this?”

“Well, well, Alice has signed a deal with the company. She owes them five million if she decides to run for it within a decade. She’s stuck in orbit while you’ve gracefully exited the Starzoid Agency. So, do you reckon I must meticulously choose the perfect moment if I decide to handle her?”

“So that’s how it is.” Keira nodded.

The persistent mistreatment Alice endured, despite facing numerous hardships, finally made sense.

Keira speculated that Keziah must have also played a role in crafting this restrictive contract.

“So, you don’t want to take off your shoes?” Keira rubbed her chin and smirked at Mila.

“Do you not care if 1 destroy her?” Mira sensed a touch of madness in Keira. Wasn’t Keira supposed to be protecting Alice? It appeared as though Alice’s future held little importance for her.

“Do you think you’re capable of that?” Keira asked. Uninterested in further argument, she gestured to the boy behind her, and he quickly handed her his phone.

“Quit the babbling and remove your shoes quickly. Otherwise, I’ve documented the entire incident. Once it’s online, I wonder if your literary goddess title will survive.

Mila shot Yara a piercing look, turned her head, and scoffed, “What’s happening? You incompetent fool, how did you not notice someone filming?”

Yara trembled beneath Mila’s intense stare. Surrounded by many onlookers, sheer terror consumed her, she genuinely hadn’t noticed it.

“I’ll repeat myself; remove them promptly, or I’ll share it online. Keira grew weary and walked to a nearby chair and took a

Mila and the rest of the group reluctantly gathered around.

Keira, let’s not act hastily. After all, we’re artists under the same company. State your terms, and we can work out an agreement. Yara hurried forward, shedding her arrogance, and spoke with a hint of temptation.

Keira did not respond.

“Posting it won’t do you any favors, so why bother?” Yara persisted in her attempts to sway her.

Keira smiled and looked at them without uttering a word. Yara, left with no choice, turned to Mila, and began persuading her. “Mila, why don’t you take off your shoes? You can wear mine for now, and I promise to arrange for someone to replace you new shoes immediately.”

Mila’s eyes smoldered, almost fiery, as she scanned the crowd.

As Yara persisted in trying to convince Mila, Milla struggled to control her anger. She couldn’t

help but feel like slapping Yara for continuing to push her. Mila had already suffered enough embarrassment today, and she didn’t want to compound it by removing her shoes and walking to the rest area in the assistant’s footwear. Doing so would be humiliating, and she couldn’t bear the thought.

As Mila and Keira remained deadlocked, Yara grew increasingly anxious. “Mila, if she goes public with it, our painstakingly earned luxury brand endorsement will be ruined. Mr. Lyra worked tirelessly to secure it for you!”

“Judging by Keira’s attitude, it’s clear she’s not strapped for cash; she just wants to take it out on Alice. If we don’t cooperate, who knows what she might do!“.

“After all, Alice is bound to our company. We’ll have ample chances to deal with her. Why jeopardize our future with such a risky move?”

As Yara’s persuasion grew more fervent, Mila finally yielded

She angrily took off her shoes and threw them on the ground.

Keira disdainfully kicked it with her foot before borrowing a broom from the cleaning lady to gather the shoes and toss them into the trash can.

“Filthy thing. What an eye–sore,” Keira grumbled coldly.

With clenched fists, Mila restrained herself from engaging in a physical altercation with Keira.

As Keira’s expression softened, Yara approached and said, “Keira, now that you’ve calmed down, let’s address the matter regarding this video.”

“What issue with the video?” Keira questioned, simultaneously checking for any substantial injuries on Alice. She yawned tiredly.

“I’m exhausted. If you want to talk, demonstrate some sincerity,” Keira massaged her sore neck and turned to depart with Alice. However, Alice stayed put.

“I showed up to have your back today. Can’t you spare a moment for coffee with me?” Keira lightly scratched the palm of Alice’s hand, signaling she had something to share,

She recognized that she had deeply offended someone and acknowledged that even if she didn’t skip work, the days ahead) likely wouldn’t be pleasant, so Alice chose to accompany Keira outside.

“Hey, Ms. Sunter, we are not done yet!” Yara intended to step forward to stop them, but upon meeting Keira’s fierce gaze, she instinctively took a few steps back.

As Keira walked away, she declared loudly, “If you want to talk to me about something, it naturally depends on my mood. After being signed with Starzoid Agency for many years, replaceing my contact information shouldn’t be difficult for you. I’m awaiting your sincerity.”

After leaving the lobby, Keira and Alice walked down to the coffee shop on the lower floor. The coffee shop had only a few customers as it was still open during work hours.

They chose a table by the window. Keira couldn’t help but notice that Alice’s eyes subdued gleamed in Alice’s eyes, which

bothered her.

I had planned to call you at some point, but I didn’t expect us to run into each other like this, Keira muttered, as her voice

held a tinge of sadness. Absentmindedly swirling her coffee, she unintentionally marred the delicate latte art on its surface.

“Why would you have called?” Alice straightened her slightly rumpled clothes, trying to maintain a composed demeanor.

She had always developed a strong self–esteem and did not want to appear vulnerable in front of her friends,

“I wanted to let you know that I’m looking for a job,” Keira said casually.

In an instant. Alice lifted her gaze. As she locked eyes with Keira, a subtle disbelief gleamed in her eyes as she croaked, “You… are you joking?”
