CHAPTER 91
Chapter 91
Lewis POV
Damn it, how could I have just left her there? How could I have left her alone with them after what he just did?
I hated myself, I really hated myself as I ran away from the palace.
Goddess, that was the worst thing he had ever done to her, the worst thing I had ever witnessed. How on earth could one person want to break someone so strong willed and righteous? Why would he want to destroy all of her best qualities?
I didn’t understand it, it was her stubbornness and strength that would make her an excellent queen, if Josh just took two seconds to see how blessed he’s been the two of them could have possibly been happy.
I couldn’t stop my mind from replaying everything on loop. By everything I mean everything, the most prominent thought I had was when she tried to kill herself the first time, how deep she had actually cut through her own skin in hopes to be free from him, and that was only after his first defilement. This one was just evil, I dread to think what she might dn.
I stopped in my tracks quickly and let myself zone into the nature surrounding me, this allowed me to hear things that were a lot further away. It was less than a minute when I picked up the sound of some wolves closing in on me and with it panic swept through me. I knew I had to mask my scent somehow, I knew I had to completely disappear off Josh’s radar. He said he couldn’t kill me, but that of course was before I tried to physically take his mate from the palace, in hind sight I probably put Dylan in a trickier situation by doing that. I’m such an idiot.
I ran for about 2 hours before coming to a large river, and instantly stopped at it, that was my ticket! I quickly shifted back into my human form and dived in washing my scent off instantly. I swam for another half hour down stream, allowing the current to carry me most of the way. I got hit by a few rocks and stones here and there, and the water smelt so bad from all the algae and moss but at least it made me untraceable.
1 honestly had no idea where I was going to go, or what I was going to do. I could have of course gone to visit my parents, but they were leading the search for the rebellions head quarters, and tasked with the eradication of the traitors, which I guess, I was now considered to be a part of
No, I knew exactly where I had to go, and that was to replace the rebellion itself, that’s who Dylan needed now, a proper force team, to help get him and his family off the throne and out of her life completely. Although I’m honestly not sure the rebellion would accept me as one of their own, I probably wouldn’t if I were them, I was the kings right hand for years, I was one of the reasons the new world came into fruition in the first place, so I would most likely be at least questioned upon my arrival.
Honestly I was just extremely thankful that the weather wasn’t too bad, I was just grateful it was April, and not winter time.
I began to head west, that’s where I should start. I fed off a lot of rabbits and ducks on my journey. Of course I ate them in my wolf form, I slept in little nooks and at one point I found a cave which I managed to light a fire in. I was just chilling by a fresh water stream, getting some much needed hydration in, when I heard the snap of a twig from close behind me. I was luckily in my human form and so it was possible to pass as human if the hunter was in fact mortal.
“Lewis?” That voice… I knew that voice anywhere. I smiled genuinely and got a large whiff of her scent before turning round only to come face to face with her. I didn’t think before my arms wrapped around my moms slender frame and her head rested on my shoulder. “What on earth are you doing here?
