Christmas with My Ex’s Dad: Chapter 12
The steam from my coffee mug swirls around my face, a welcome warmth on this chilly morning. I sit at the kitchen table, rubbing my fingers over my bottom lip, still tingling from Griffin’s kisses. Blushing, memories of last night flood back – the way his hands moved over my body, strong and sure, as if he’d known me for years. The experience was electric, an intensity that left me breathless.
I can’t help but compare it to the dull, predictable intimacy I’d shared with Elliot. Is it bad that I prefer his dad? A twinge of guilt creeps in, but I brush it off. After all, Elliot cheated and treated me like an afterthought. Griffin, on the other hand, awakened something inside me, making me feel alive in ways I hadn’t experienced in years.
The kitchen door opens, and Griffin walks in, freshly showered and well-rested. He pauses when he sees me, a smile playing on his lips. “I missed you when I woke up. I had other plans for us this morning.”
I smirk over the rim of my coffee mug. “I would have thought that three times last night would have left you sated.”
Griffin chuckles, leaning against the counter, his muscular arms crossed. “What can I say? Just because I’m older doesn’t mean I don’t have a sex drive.”
I raise an eyebrow, my teasing grin widening. “Oh, I learned that last night. I won’t be quick to forget.”
He laughs, and I can’t help but be drawn into the sound, the infectious joy filling the room. In that moment, I realize how much I crave this connection, this feeling of being seen and understood by someone who challenges me, excites me. But what does this mean for us? What comes next?
Griffin’s eyes lock onto mine as he steps closer, their depths glinting with amusement and something far more intense. The space between us shrinks, and I can almost feel the electricity from last night crackling in the air.
“One night might not be enough for me.” Griffin’s voice drops to a whisper, sending shivers down my spine. He reaches out and gently grabs my wrist, his touch sending a delicious warmth through my veins. “How do you feel about that?”
My breath catches in my throat, and my pulse quickens beneath his fingertips. A thousand thoughts race through my mind, but all I manage to do is open my mouth, no words escaping.
The shrill sound of Griffin’s phone ringing slices through the tension like a knife. He releases my wrist, disappointment flickering across his face as he glances at the screen.
“I have to take this,” he mutters, his jaw tightening. With one last lingering look, he steps out of the kitchen, leaving me to exhale slowly and try to steady myself.
As I wrap my hands around my coffee mug, I can’t help but ponder what just transpired. Is it possible that Griffin wants more than one night of unforgettable sex? And if so, do I want that too?
I know the risks, the complications that would arise from pursuing something deeper with my ex’s father. But the longer I think about it, the more I realize that I don’t care.
The sizzle of eggs hitting the hot pan fills the kitchen as I crack them one by one, trying to keep my hands steady. As I slice through a loaf of bread, I can’t help but wonder if one time would be enough for me. The answer, if I’m honest with myself, is no.
“Smells delicious,” Griffin’s voice startles me as he walks back into the kitchen, his expression relaxed as he pockets his phone.
“Ah, you’re back,” I manage to say.
“Do you have work tonight?” he asks, leaning against the counter and studying me with those intense hazel eyes.
I look up from the cutting board, surprised by the question. “No… why?”
“Good. I’d like you to come with me to my company’s Christmas dinner.” His smirk is as alluring as it is maddening.
“Christmas dinner?” I repeat, my fingers fumbling with the knife as my thoughts race. An event like that – public, full of his colleagues – would surely raise eyebrows. But the idea of spending more time with him, exploring whatever this connection between us might be… It’s tempting. “Are you asking me on a date?” I blurt out, suddenly feeling exposed.
Griffin grins, his hazel eyes twinkling with mischief and something deeper. “I’d like it to be.”
My heart skips a beat at his response, the room seeming to shrink around us. A date? With Griffin? The idea fills me with both excitement and nerves, my stomach fluttering with anticipation. As I look at him standing there, his confident smile making my knees weak, I feel something shift inside me.
Oh no. I think I’m falling for my ex’s dad.
