LEVI

I threw a chunk of the raw meat into the wolves' cage and I felt a sense of sudden anger wash over me.

The wolves began to eat, and I watched them, lost in thought as I was reminded of how strong and fierce they can be - yet had failed to take out one of the greatest obstacles of my life. "What do you want?" I snorted when I felt Asher's piercing gaze bore holes into my skin from behind.

I had noticed his presence ever since he walked in on me. His idea of stealthiness wasn't exactly something that I reckon with and I have no idea how he managed to figure out that I was here, in the cave. "You should know why I'm here Levi." He primped. I sensed the anger registered in his voice. "You always seem to know everything and are quite on top of things if you'd ask me."

I gave a humourless laugh, pushing a strand of hair backwards in an uninterested manner.

"Let me guess, the b***h said something to you and you're here to defend her sorry a*s?" I questioned, leaving him speechless and at a loss of words.

Brushing past him, I picked up a huge chunk of meat and threw it at the wolves while they battled themselves for it, trying to bite and tear each other down.

"Amery is not a bitch." He corrected me in a stern voice.

I rolled my eyes at him in blatant disgust and made to leave but he stood in front of me, completely blocking my path.

"Move." I growled, my eyes sizing him up until they settled on his face but he threw his chin at me in a challenging manner.

I had absolutely no desire to get into a heated argument with anyone today but so far, it seems as if the goddess had other plans for me.

First, it was Amery who had bumped into me intentionally and now, it was my sorry excuse of a brother who was pathetic to the extent of falling for a half-baked werewolf.

Never in my wildest dreams had I imagined that a girl would ever come between my brothers and I. Why are they so hell bent on winning her over, despite the prophecies concerning her? Was I now the only sane one amongst them?

"Why did you lock up Amery in a cave to be eaten alive by your wild wolves?" He sneered in anger.

"The plan was to have her eaten alive but she's breathing, isn't she? I'm just as upset that it didn't work out as I planned it to." Came my nonchalant response, and I made to leave but he held me by the collar and shoved me against the nearest wall. "What did you just say?" He fired, his lips curled up in rage as he tightened his grip on my collar.

My wolves in the cage sensed the attack and howled in a deep voice, rushing in a bid to get to me but I still remained silent, not uttering a single word.

"You sick bastard-" He raised his hands to hit me but stops halfway.

"Go ahead and do it, Asher." I laughed, fueling his anger. "Go ahead and prove to me just how much of a coward you are and to what extent you'd go to attack your own brother all because of a useless girl." I challenged, lifting my chin at him defiantly. "Don't forget the bet we had Asher," I continued while his eyes took a dangerous shade of red. "This is nothing but a game, and I'm going to play it my way. Whatever I do to win is none of your business and you have no right to stop me."

"I don't know your idea of a game Levi, but if it's at the expense of Amery's life, then I won't take it sitting down." He threatened.

"You sound so confident."

He smirked "I don't need to be because I'm already winning. It's already obvious that Amery is mine and sooner or later, she's going to let me mark her."

His response triggers me and I replace myself slowly creeping towards the edge in anger. My wolf tensed up at the idea of having someone else mark her - our mate.

My face scrunched up as I glared daggers at him. Angry at not just him, but my wolf as well. If looks could kill, then I'm pretty certain that he'd be dead by now.

"I can't believe that both of you are just so stupid enough to put your lives out there because of...that thing." I bellowed. "Doesn't the prophecy mean anything at all to you? She'll be the death of us. You both are dangling all our lives in danger just to get your d**k wet! Pathetic!" I spat in anger and forcefully shoved his hands away from my collar.

"Coming from a man who doesn't even respect his own mate. Why should I give a damn on what you have to say about this? I care about Amery, and that's all that matters."

I chuckled in a sarcastic manner.

"Do you really care about her though?" I questioned, facing him squarely. "You only care about winning the competition, Asher, and nothing else. You don't care about her, not one little bit. Amery is nothing but a trophy to you and you're only led on by your competitive streak to win."

Something dangerous and anger snapped in Asher's eyes.

"Tell me to my face that you haven't tried to make her have s*x with you." I demanded but he remained silent. "Your silence alone is enough proof that I am speaking the truth. You don't love her, neither do you care for her, or respect her for that matter, so don't insult yourself by actually believing that you-"

The rest of my words are caught in the air as Asher's fists landed on my cheeks in a solid punch. I knew that he wouldn't be able to handle the truth. He threw another punch at me and I dodged it, catching his hands mid air.

"If you ever try to make an attempt on Amery's life again..." He gritted his teeth in anger and closed the space between us. "If you so much as try to slip up one more time, Levi, then I f*****g swear to the moon goddess, you'd not only face my wrath but you'd gain me as your worst enemy."

He releases his hands forcefully away from my grip and pushes past me to make his way out of the cave. That was exactly when a sharp throb shot into my skull intensely.

With a deep groan, I fell to the ground, clutching onto my head tightly as I felt my wolf stir up inside me.

The impact from the severe hit destabilizes me instantly as I am filled with an unwelcome pain that shoots up my spleen and ruptures in massive waves throughout my entire body.

"Help me!"

I hear Amery's enstranged voice through her message. I am thrown into a fit of unrest as my wolf persists inside me to replace her.

"Levi..." I heard Asher's worried voice through my dark hazel world as he rushed towards me and struggled to help me up from the hard surface.

"Are you okay? What's wrong?" He fell to his knees in front of me when I refused to get up like he had asked.

I noted the panic and dread in his voice as he spoke to me, regardless of the fact that he had just threatened death on me merely seconds ago.

My breathing had gone erratic and I took deep breaths to calm my raging heartbeat.

"It's Amery..." I groaned tiredly, my head still hurting badly as I tried to shut myself away from feeling any sort of connection to her.

"What about Amery?" His voice had gone up a higher pitch as he watched me keenly.

"She's in danger." I let the words roll out of my mouth before I could stop them.

I tried my utmost best to ignore the signals but my wolf made it almost impossible for me to. Each time I closed my eyes and tried to block her away, the vision only came back stronger, compelling me to listen and not shut her out. Just why on earth is my wolf always trying to get involved? And why did she reach out to me instead of Asher?

"Where is she?" He questioned, pulling me up by the collar. "Say something, Levi!" He shook me vehemently, urging me to speak.

"I don't know." I blurted out nonchalantly.

The migraine slowly kicked in as I clutched onto my head a little tighter than before.

He hit me across the face. "She's in danger and might possibly lose her life. Try to connect with her, Levi. Don't be such a prick, you god-damned fool!"

"Find her, NOW!" He yelled at me and after much hesitation, I gave into my wolf's restlessness and state of unrest.

Closing my eyes firmly for the first time, I give into my wolf and allow myself to feel a connection with Amery.

It's a warm feeling - something that pulls me deeper and deeper into everything that she is. Her beautiful smiles, her amusing frowns, the spark in her enchanting blue eyes - then I saw blood on her. Snapping my eyes open, my heart hammers and I quickly rush up to my feet as though I had been shocked back to life.

"She's hurt! Wounded badly. We have to hurry." Those were the only words that escaped my lips as I dashed out of the caves, leaving Asher to follow, hoping that we would get there on time.

Hold on for me, Amery.
