Claiming My Wolf -
Chapter 63
~~Aaron’s PoV~~
I was only gone for a few minutes to make a few calls. I had to call my parents and Laurel’s parents too, to tell them what was going on, and then convince them not to come to the hospital. The hospital was closed to visitors right now because there were so many people being treated, but luckily I had come in with the injured, so I was allowed to stay.
Then when I got back to the waiting room, Micah was gone.
Did something happen? I race down the hall to the room where they moved Ava and Laurel after they came out of surgery, and there’s Micah, sitting next to Ava and holding her hand. Their heads are really close together and they’re smiling at each other and it’s kind of weird, but I ignore them for now to focus on my mate.
Laurel’s lying in the bed closest to the door. Her eyes are still closed and she looks like an angel lying there, just like always. When the doctor sees me, he raises his eyebrows. “Mr Miller, I told you we’d tell you when we had any news.”
Micah growls at him, and I’m surprised at the authority he’s giving off. “Doctor, that’s his mate. Tell him what he needs to know.”
And to my surprise, the doctor bows his head at Micah. “Yes, Beta.”
And to my surprise, the doctor bows his head at Micah. “Yes, Beta.”
Beta? Micah’s the Beta now? Clearly I missed a few things, but again, it’s not my main worry right now.
The doctor turns to me. “As you already know, your mate was knocked out during the attack. Her physical injuries are fairly minor, but she hasn’t regained consciousness yet and we’re not sure why.”
“Can I talk to her?”
The doctor glances over at Micah who nods firmly, so the doctor agrees. “I’m going to go check on some other patients. Excuse me.”
He leaves the room and I take a seat next to Laurel. She’s got a different scent about her tonight, and I wonder if it’s to do with her injury. But then I take her hand to start talking to her, and sparks light up my skin, and suddenly I understand.
“The mate bond is fixed?” I ask Micah and Ava. They’re still grinning at each other, and that finally makes sense too. “You guys are mates?”
They nod at me, and I look down at Laurel with excitement. We’re mates too then. Not just chosen mates, but real, destined mates too.
I knew it. I always knew it. We chose each other, but we were meant for each other too. I can’t wait to see her face when she realizes it.
I knew it. I always knew it. We chose each other, but we were meant for each other too. I can’t wait to see her face when she realizes it.
Hey, Blaze, I call my wolf in my head. Can you try to reach Laurel’s wolf? Maybe she’s conscious even if Laurel isn’t.
He agrees and less than a minute later, he’s howling gleefully in my head. She’s our mate! She feels it too.
I knew she would. Can she talk to Laurel?
She’ll try, he promises.
I rub her hand, whispering encouragement to her, each second feeling like a lifetime, but finally, her eyelids flutter.
“Laurel? Can you hear me?”
It takes a few seconds longer, but finally she smiles and her eyes open, so full of love for me I can hardly stand it. “I hear you, and I smell you too. My mate.”
“I told you,” I remind her, and we both laugh before I lean down and k**s her. Finally. Everything is the way it was always meant to be.
