Contract With The Alpha King -
Chapter 110
Chapter 110
Crimson Howler's Pack
Elise sighed as she slumped deeper into the plush couch inside her father's office. The room, lined with shelves of leather-bound books and lit by a single dim lamp, felt stifling. Papers were stacked neatly on the large oak desk where Lord Thomas Rosenthal sat, reviewing the latest reports.
"Father," Elise began, pulling her legs up onto the couch. "The Alpha said he declined a few more invitations from other packs again."
Lord Rosenthal didn't look up from the letter he was holding, his expression unreadable as always. He simply nodded, his fingers drumming once against the polished wood of the desk before he set the paper aside.
"It's been non-stop since the incident," Elise continued, her voice laced with exasperation. "Ever since Fiona pulled off that ridiculous display, it's like everyone is crawling out of the woodwork, desperate to get into our good graces. Alphas, council members, even rogue! Gifts, letters, proposals -our pack is drowning in attention."
Lord Rosenthal leaned back in his chair, his sharp eyes flicking toward his daughter. "Did you expect anything less?" he said, his tone dry. "A Rosenthal flaunts their abilities in front of an audience, and the vultures come circling. This is the world we live in, Elise." Elise scowled, folding her arms across her chest. "And what about Fiona? Any news?"
Lord Rosenthal snorted, the sound carrying a mix of irritation and amusement. He picked up another letter, scanning its contents briefly before tossing it aside. "She's doing her best to attract as much attention as possible, apparently."
Elise frowned, straightening in her seat. "What has she done this time?"
Lord Rosenthal pushed his chair back slightly, resting his elbows on the armrests as he regarded Elise. "She's shown off her ability, that's what she's done. She made herself the talk of every pack in the world by going around and healing villagers, omegas and the weak. Her name is being praised as if she's some divine savior. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up touring every pack in the territory, healing their sick and injured like some traveling miracle worker."
Elise's eyes widened, a mix of surprise and disbelief crossing her face. "Why would she do that? The Fiona I knew hated attention. She went out of her way to avoid it."
Lord Rosenthal gave a humorless chuckle, rising from his chair. He walked over to the window, the faint light of the moon casting his features in sharp relief. "Then perhaps," he said. "You don't know your sister as well as you think you do."
Elise's expression faltered, her brow furrowing as she tried to process his words. "What does that even mean?" she asked, leaning forward on the
couch.
Lord Rosenthal didn't answer immediately. He clasped his hands behind his back, staring out at the darkened grounds of their estate. Elise continued, "Your plan... I mean..." She cleared her throat. "Do you still plan on killing her for leaving the clan?" Almost immediately, her father turned to her. "You think I didn't try?"
"Father..." Elise's voice shook. The coldness in his eyes shook her to her core. How could a father decide to kill his own daughter just because she broke some old rules? She pursed her lips. "What do you mean?"
"Since she left the palace, Prince Elijah has been with her, protecting her. She has become his priority."
Elise said nothing in response. She thought of the prince for a while before shaking her head. "She must have something on him." Elise refused to believe this was just because she was a Rosenthal. Why would a prince help Fiona without some sort of compensation? "Perhaps she made a deal with him. A lifetime of labor or something." Since Fiona could heal someone, it wouldn't be too far-fetched if Elijah asked her to be his personal
healer.
However, her father didn't answer.
After what felt like forever, Lord Rosenthal turned, his gaze sharp. "That's the question, isn't it?" Without another word, he strode toward the door, his boots echoing against the hardwood floor.
Elise stood abruptly, watching him leave. "You can't just walk away, Father," she called after him. "You're not even going to tell me what you think she's doing?"
Lord Rosenthal paused at the threshold, his hand resting on the doorframe. He glanced back at her, his expression unreadable. "Figure it out yourself," he said before stepping out, the door closing firmly behind him.
Left alone in the quiet office, Elise sank back onto the couch, her mind swirling with questions. Since Fiona left, everything around her had completely changed And Elise hated it.

Chapter 110
"What did your father say?"
Elise's thoughts were broken by her mother's voice. Milina entered the office, her sharp gaze sweeping the room before settling on Elise. She sank into the chair opposite her daughter, her presence commanding even in the quiet. "What is Fiona doing now? Did he say anything else about her?"
Elise pouted, her lips pressing into a tight line. She didn't want her father to actually go through with killing Fiona-of course not-but she was sick of the relentless attention her sister seemed to command. Fiona did this. Fiona did that. It was exhausting, like the whole world had suddenly started revolving around her.
Without a word, Elise stood, brushing off invisible creases from her skirt as she made her way to the door.
"Hey! Where are you going?" Milina's voice rose, irritation lacing her words. "Elise! I'm talking to you!"
"Why don't you ask her yourself, Mom?" Elise shot back, her tone clipped and cold. "I have other things to attend to." She didn't wait for a response, striding out and leaving Milina sitting alone in the dim office.
Meanwhile, Lord Thomas Rosenthal stood stiffly in front of Alpha Cris, his expression as unreadable as stone. "I have sent many people," Thomas began, his voice low and controlled, though frustration simmered beneath the surface. "As you requested. None of them succeeded."
Alpha Cris's growl reverberated through the room. "Those damn royals must have figured it out. They're protecting her in secret." He leaned forward, his piercing eyes locking on Rosenthal. "If you don't get rid of her, those people will turn their sights on us. The Lycans already know she exists. I'm sure the vampires-""
"I'll get rid of her before it comes to that," Lord Rosenthal interrupted, his voice icy and resolute.
"You better." Alpha Cris's sneer deepened, his words biting. "We don't need another war because of some damn woman."
Rosenthal swallowed, his fists clenching at his sides as a dark chill settled over his expression. Every attempt he'd made to eliminate Fiona had failed. The servants he sent were turned away. The assassins disappeared. Even the hunters-seasoned killers trained to strike without error-had failed to so much as graze her. It was all thanks to the royal family's interference, and, more specifically, that damn Prince Elijah.
But no matter the obstacles, he had no choice. He had to succeed. Failure wasn't an option.
Fiona needed to be dealt with-quickly and permanently.
