Chapter 125

Fiona closed her eyes as she tried to calm herself. She balled her hands into tight fists before opening her eyes. The room was empty now, her father king gone. For what felt like forever, her father's words echoed against her ears over and over until she felt a headache

coming her way

"Your father left. Elijah's i

's voice broke her stupor. She turned and found him standing by the door. "You don't look alright"

Fiona's lips thinned. "Close the door," she said.

He complied and immediately approached her, holding her hand. He stared at her, worry apparent on his eyes. "The banquet is about to star," he reminded her. "It will take at least twenty minutes for us to get to the palace."

She nodded before letting out a sigh. "I was right."

What?

My father and the can head before him are selling our blood. She had confirmed this from her father's reaction earlier. She swallowed.

During their confrontation. Fiona had decided to test her father, trying to gauge his reaction. Who would have known that he would react that way? "He asked me who told me those things," she continued. "He asked if it was you or the King"

She then met his gare. "Did you know?" Fiona asked. If he knew, then did he planned everything? Their marriage, their current relationship. Was it all a sham Fiona wanted to know.

"No." he answered without batting an eyelid.

She said nothing in response. There was no hesitation in his answer, However, her father's question seemed strange. Why would he ask about the King! Fiona wondered if the King knew about it too Was it possible! Was that why the King had mentioned her blood when they spoket Do you believe me?" he asked.

Fiona said nothing. Instead, she held his wrist and closed her eyes. Taking a deep breath, her fingers tightened around Elijah's wrist. Her energy moved instinctively, Bowing from her to him. It wasn't the first time she had used her ability on him, but this time, her focus was sharper. In the past, when she'd healed him, she had detected oddities in his body small anonplies she had dismissed, assuming they would resolve on their own. Now, her father's cryptic question gnawed at her thoughts, forcing her to dig deeper. Her energy coursed through Elijah, probing gently but meticulously. She didn't speak, her focus unwavering as her ability mapped his internal state. She detected strength and vitality-but there it was again, the same oddity she'd noticed before. Something subtle, dormant, yet unnatural.

When Fiona opened her eyes, her expression was unreadable, but her gaze locked firmly on Elijah's. "Why did you think you were impotent before?" she asked, her voice steady. Their deal had started because he told her he was impotent.

Thinking back, it would be easy for Fiona to believe he had fooled her into marrying him. However, there was no reason for him to do that unless be knew about her blood. Prince Elijah had no motive to save her from Zach's clutches.

Elijah's eyes widened slightly, caught off guard. He tilted his head, studying her face. "Why are you asking me that now?" he countered, his voice low as his body inched closer to her. The air between them seeined to hum with unspoken tension. "We're married, Fiona. You should know if I'm impotent or not."

She didn't back down. "Answer the question, Elijah

He let out a short exhale, the comer of his lips twitching into a faint smirk before he grew serious again. "Fine. I thought that because.... nothing ever happened My Lady didn't respond to anyone-no matter who they were, I chose to help you because I knew you were in a very desperate ultation. You would be willing to accept anything that would get you out of that place."

kabina nodded slightly, processing his words. She knew that the prince was cunning. He had a point. At that time, Fiona was at her lowest. She would indeed do everything to leave that place. So, he took advantage of her vulnerability and offered her a deal. Her freedom in exchange for healing his Impotence, test was never these in the first place.

"And now?" she asked.

He leaned closer, his hand ring to gently cup her face. His-thumb brushed against her cheekbone as his eyes softened, holding hers. "Now, it's different. It was different the moment I touched you," he said. "Imunediate. Uudeniable."

Her breath hutched as his hand lingered against her skin. The intensity of his gaze rooted her in place, as though he were baring not just his words but his very curte.

"Don't you feel it too?" he asked.

Chapter 125

She nodded without saying a word. She could feel it too-that electric feeling of his touch, the same tingling heat that had ignited her senses the night they first slept together. It wasn't just physical; it was deeper, an almost primal recognition that sent warmth spiraling through her body, leaving her both exhilarated and vulnerable.

She remembered that night vividly-how every brush of his fingers against her skin felt like fire and silk combined, how his touch seemed to awaken parts of her she hadn't known existed. It wasn't just the mating bond. It was the way he looked at her, as though she was the only thing that mattered, the way his hands roamed her skin, both possessive and reverent, setting her nerve endings ablaze.

The sensation now was no different. His thumb traced a slow path along her cheekbone, and a wave of warmth spread through her, pooling low in her belly. The bond between them pulsed like a living thing, urging her closer, demanding she give in. For a moment, her body betrayed her, leaning ever so slightly into his touch, seeking more.

The past few days had been hectic, and both of them had a lot on their minds. This was the first time since they arrived in this place that Fiona actual felt the bond.

Bur Fiona forced herself to focus. She tightened her hand into a fist at her side, grounding herself, willing her mind to regain control over the pull of their connection. She couldn't let herself get swept away-not now. Not when she had more pressing questions lingering in her mind. "It wasn't just an attraction, Fiona. It was my body knowing. Reacting You're my mate, and it's only ever been you" he continued

The sincerity in his voice sent a shiver down her spine, though she masked it with a small nod. Her hand moved instinctively, brushing against his chest as if to steady herself. Her mind was still in shambles, but Elijah really had no reason to lie to her knowing that they were each other's mate. Perhaps their marriage started with a scheme, but now? It is different.

"I needed to know," she murmured, her voice quierer now, almost as if speaking to herself. "Thank you." At one point, she wondered if the oddity running through Eliah's blood was a poison caused by her blood. But it wasn't.

This time, she made sure to check. That thing in his blood wasn't poison, but it wasn't anything good either. She silently decided to discuss this matter after the banquet.

However, he didn't seem ready to let it go. He tilted her chin upward slightly, his touch light yet firm. "Don't ever doubt how I feel about you," he said. "Not for a second."

For a moment, neither of them moved, the room silent save for the sound of their breaths. Fiona's eyes searched his, replaceing only truth in his words. Slowly, she exhaled, feeling a strange sense of relief mingling with the lingering tension.

"Let's get ready," she said finally, pulling back just enough to break the moment. Her fingers lingered briefly on his hand before she stepped away.

Elijah didn't protest. He simply nodded, his gaze following her as she moved toward the door. "I'll be right by your side," he said quiedy.

And Fiona, for the first time in hours, allowed herself to smile. "I know."
