Hugh smiled but returned after taking a few steps. He approached Kevin and asked cautiously, "You won't tattle to my parents about me, right?"

"I won't as long as you promise to do the same."

They had some control over one another.

Kevin was afraid of Hayden getting mad, while Hugh feared his parents urging him to marry.

Even if Donald and Sophia did not urge Hugh to marry, they would give him a good scolding.

Kevin had become their new favorite person. He was more adored than Hugh, the couple's real son.

Hugh often complained to Hayden that he probably was not their parents' biological son. Donald and Sophia liked Kevin too much. He and Kevin might have been switched at birth. Hayden's reply was an ashtray flying toward him.

Hugh felt he was at the bottom of the food chain within the family.

Sigh. It was because he was never in a serious relationship.

If he were to bring a girl home, his place in his parents' hearts would rise.

However, upon thinking about how much his parents looked forward to having a daughter-in-law, Hugh had a feeling that his position in the family would stay the same even if he brought his girlfriend home. His parents' adoration and attention on Kevin would simply be redirected to his girlfriend.

A son-in-law was still another family's son, and he would be taking their daughter away. However, their son's girlfriend would be marrying into the family, so naturally, Don and Sophia would favor their future daughter-in-law.

"Look at you getting all smug."

Hugh muttered, "Once I get a girlfriend and bring her home, my parents will lose interest in you."

Of course, he was only all talk.

He had not met a girl who could make his heart pound and end his bachelor days.

The timing was not right yet.

There was no need to be hasty, nor was there any use in being anxious.

Hayden only exited the conference room after everyone had left.

"Honey."

Kevin went up to her with the money bouquet and a huge grin on his face.

"Don't call me honey. It's cringey. I have goosebumps all over."

"Okay. You're the boss, honey."

"Kevin York!"

"Okay, okay. I won't call you that. This bouquet is for you, Hayden. It won't wilt, and it's super useful."

Hayden accepted the bouquet he handed over. She said, "I told you not to give me flowers, yet you continue doing it every day. These flowers won't wilt, but they still take up space." She already had many bouquets made of money, and it was all from Kevin.

She was extremely busy and would only return home late at night. By that time, she just wanted to wash up and sleep. She had no time or energy to unfold the money flowers.

If he kept on gifting her these, her room would be packed soon and the rest would have to go to her study.

"I heard girls usually love both real flowers and flowers made of money. I'm giving you both."

Kevin's voice turned gentle when he spoke. His burning gaze was directed at Hayden. His heart ached when he saw her fatigued expression.

He held her hand and said, "You're not allowed to work after returning from Fisher Manor tonight. Rest early."
